I’m a big fan of your videos, they are very educational. I am a studio one user who’s learning protools for those clients that must have a protools session. I use automation a lot on my daily workflow and I think it’s a great tool to have in your back pocket to spice up a track. As I watched the video, I couldn’t help but notice that the result you’re aiming for in this tutorial is very similar to the results I use a different technique for, especially on this specific effect type. When using this type of effects, I use side-chain compression on the return track itself and have it triggered by the main track running through it. Then I would play with the attack and release to get the right timing for the compressor to be compressing and let the effect through. I find that to be much faster because I don’t have to “write” the automation the entire track and that my level for the effect is more consistent without having to edit. What are your thoughts?

Ok. I'm back... I wanted to put fab filter on certain parts of my instrumental (like 40 and Drake). But I wanted to automate it. My workaround? Also simple. Just duplicate the track and add the fab filter to one of the tracks then either touch, write or even delete parts of the track that didn't have the filter. I think with this style you made, it blends in with the track almost like parallel compression. I didn't want that. In Reason or FL or maybe even Logic, I can actually automate the VST by right clicking the parameter and creating an automation lane. That's how I normally do filtering.

I downloaded the free trial of Auto-Tune EFX 3 based on your recommendation and now I'm trying to learn how to use it before I buy it. I don't use Garage Band, I use Pro Tools 12, so how do we record those "hard EFX" in Pro Tools? I'm experimenting on my own music before trying to embarrass myself on someone else's music. Hello Wayne , I have a question. I tryed this effect and its works ok, but the Level of the Audio in the Delay is Low is there a way to increase the Level of the effect.
You can do it both ways homie. If you know what plug ins you're using already and with what settings, and want to hear yourself record that way as you sing or rap you can put them on. Otherwise record without plug ins and apply them after to get your sound right.
So when is the h delay video I often see you use a 1/4 and 1/8 delay and I'm confused on how to bring the delay without delaying the input signal itself
