Astronomical tide causes flooding in Southern Taiwan | Taiwan News | RTI

Affected by the annual astronomical tide, flooding occurred again early this morning in the Cijin District of Kaohsiung.
Seawater surged into the streets, forcing pedestrians and motorcyclists to wade through the water. Nearby residents are troubled, as the area floods every time there is a high tide, and they hope for improvements soon. Similarly, in Donggang Township's Dongjin Village in Pingtung, flooding also occurrs at the low-lying terrain. Although the water has receded, the Central Weather Administration reminds residents of the coastal areas in the southwest to be on high alert for high tides until the 24th.
