    This is a procedure on how to manually release the parking brake then get the computer to in sync that it's been released. These steps worked for me, they may not work for you. G'luck!
    If this helped you, buying me a coffee or three would be great! ☕️

    Thanks for the video I was literally stranded and about to call for a tow truck until I seen this video. Was back on the road and sorted out within 5-10 minutes. I appreciate your work....

    thank you, you helped me a lot, I had a problem with parking, I disassembled the unit, the negative wire fell off, soldered it, cleaned the errors and the parking does not work, then I accidentally found your video, I did everything as you said and now the parking works.
    good evening we are from Ukraine 🇺🇦 , and my x5 is from Canada. 🇨🇦

    I followed these steps and after releasing it in the back with the tool I came to the front to reset the computer when I pushed down on the parking break button for 5 seconds I heard a cranking noise and then I pushed up for 5 seconds and then took the key out and restarted and the light is still on saying my parking break is on.

    I didn't have the knob to be pulled up by the Red Tool. Mine had a looped wire instead. I pulled it up (separately three times) and it failed to release the Parking Brake. I am truly bummed.

      Yes same here it didn’t work. I had a looped wire on the end of mine as well I pulled on it and then did the steps to reset it and still didn’t work.

      Same, but I had to pull with all my might and it worked! Passed the first little “click” ..I was also on an incline, so it was harder to pull up the string

    I tried this and it released the parking brake but then yellow parking symbol stayed and no parking brake when stationary. Had to use ISTA to reset it properly.

    successful story: 1.after releasing it in the back with the tool , 2.put the key in 3. push down the parking brake button a few second 4. "step on brake pedal" messeage on center console 5. push down the blake pedal 6. you can hear motor sound which is pulling the wire in the back. done

    When you pull the emergency release, the force sensor is released from the motor unit. How in the hell it’s going to reattach the force sensor back to the motor unit ? Please stop giving misinformation dude
    The reset will work only after you either replace the park break actuator or open the unit and reattach the force sensor manually

      Not true. Just did it and it worked and my parking brake is back to working how it should

    • @minicooper6296
      @minicooper6296 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      May be you didn’t do the actual release. Google to see the internals of the parking brake actuator. You will understand what I am talking about

      @@minicooper6296 well I was stuck in a parking lot and I pulled the realease cable (very hard to get to release) and I was no longer stuck. I had a yellow park light and no cruise control. I got home and did this reset and now my parking brake works as it should. 🤷🏿‍♂️

    • @minicooper6296
      @minicooper6296 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s strange. I had the same experience, however, when I tried to do the reset, it did nothing . So I opened the unit, checked the motor etc to make sure it’s working, reconnected the disengaged latch, put everything back, still not able to reset. So I ordered a replacement from eBay waiting to arrive. But here is my point- when I opened the actuator what I noticed is , manually latching is the only way the release mechanism can be reattached. The motor inside the unit is the only thing that can move anything inside the unit and that is connected to the right hand side of the cable, so how in the world the reset will re-attach the release mechanism?

    • @eddy45686

      it worked for me last time and got it again today. I used ISTA to reset the parking brake as this method did nothing. Mine made a screeching noise when it jammed. So released it to get home. Never park on an incline that’s what fucked mine up.
