I'm distraught that I missed this episode! The Shadow Rising was the first Wheel of Time novel I read. It's also my favorite novel in the series. I have this book to thank for changing my life for the better, forever.
@@MrJballn This book really distinguishes the characters so definitively in a way that the first three books and even the ray of the books kind of fall short of. Perrin especially shines. He's very solidly portrayed. A lot of people kind of write him off as boring in the later books, but they forget that in this book he's the character who loses the most. He loses his entire close family. Afterwards he only really has his wife left who he really loves left. Protecting her is tantamount to preserving his soul, his humanity.
I started to be “obsessive” in your videos😅 only one big mistake is that when I’m on your “home” channel tab, you have there like 7 videos only, you have to search while your channel to be able to pick up a video
I’ll admit Robert Jordan had the hook in my gums at The Great Hunt and the flicker chapter. However, I do like The Shadow Rising more and the history of the Aiel chapters was when I knew I was reading this series many times.
@@TheDustyWheel yea it has its challenges for sure. I break the series down by sections as opposed to books though so 1-3 section 1, 4-6 section 2 and so on, so by the end of season 2 of the show we could be on our way to the waste, or maybe on the way back out if they really change things up for section one. I need a trailer lol I am climbing the walls waiting.
I think Brett has a point with cutting Couladin. For the adaptation, that can clean up a lot of future complications and it wouldn't ruin the main plot getting to the last battle.
Okayest innkeeper in Caemlyn! 🤣 how did I miss that. Someone is throwing shade and I don’t think they are Aiel. We all know Basil Gil is a close second to Matt Hatch for the best innkeeper in Caemlyn.
If season 2 did Great Hunt and Dragon Reborn in 10 episodes, then season 3 could do Shadow Rising and Fires of Heaven in 12 and keep that pace. Season 4 books 6, 7, & 8, season 5 books 9,10,11, season 6/7 the SandersonWoT
Well this is very late but I think that the reason why the main character women are so entiteled is that women are dominant in the WoT world from small things like the details around Rands marrige to the larger structures of the world. Presumably the reason for this is at least partly the tainted male source. This is reinforced by being part of a powerelite that consist only of women and are fairly isolated from the larger world. And they are kids. At least that was what I thought when I read the books 20+ years ago.
Yay! Love new reader videos and love The Wheel Weaves Podcast!! So excited to go back and watch all of these streams once I'm done with the series. :)
Yay! Thank you so much! :)
Wooooah as an audiobook ONLY guy i did NOT know that part about the Avendasora tree burning! That's so crazy to me 😮
Starts at 2:15. Remember, no spoilers after The Shadow Rising in comments!
"Faile is Gandalf", I'm dying of laughter right now. 😆😂🤣
This was fun!
My favourite book is 4, 5, 6 and 13, 14.
I'm a 2,4,6,5,13...but it's so difficult.
@@TheDustyWheel to choose? Yeah, I feel that. Keep up the great work on the channel, amigo!

Now I'm considering recommending a 4, 1, 2, 3 read order for newcomers and treating the original trilogy as "I Know What You Did Last Winternight"

I hope they can catch how expansive this book feels, in the first season of the TV Show.
My favorite book changes a lot but I right now book 5 is it for me

June 7th was my 1 year anniversary of finishing the series. 😎😭
Gratz! How quick did you pick it up from the beginning after finishing?
@@MrJballn I started with the audiobooks shortly after. Lol
Still gotta get my audible on, I'm missing a crucial chunk the fandom fawns over.
The Shadow Rising, the tome that turned WoT from series to epic. The high shadow raises all boats. Or something like that.
:) I agree with all of this sentiment. Definitely turned WoT into something epic.

Oh man! I’m reading the series for the first time and just finished The Shadow Rising last week! It’s so nice to hear fresh opinions without spoilers!
Sad I missed this one, best book in the series the whole book has to make the show.
I can't see many spots they could cut. I think this will prove to be the most difficult to adapt of all the books.

Don't let Brett hear you say that...if we let him know he is right sometimes...it'll go straight to his head! ;)
Dragon Reborn book 3 is my favorite thus far. Seven books in as of…..now….

@@Spthomas47 Sorry, grammatically operating under the premise it's already written.
Cut the Shaido. 😉
Please, yet keep Dumais Wells regardless the enemy.
