Yesss me too! This is an under talked about topic that really needs to be talked about haha. Sounds funny but really we need more info and sharing of this. Though I know accountants and CPA’s will have differing opinions obviously so it can be hard.

TH-cam is supposedly a job with a lot of freedom but you have to cater to viewers and sponsors to depend on income. It’s really tough but you’ve stood the test of time and changed up the type of content often enough to stay relevant!
I feel like if you just went ahead and started publicly documenting the Joshua tree house, it’ll manifest and start actually happening. The sustainable audience is also growing imo. You have an audience that would love the diversity of having a Joshua tree series. I know it’s a lot of driving but what a great fresh start to have on the channel. I imagine an hgtv vibe idk. long timer watcher who rarely comments but in regard to your main channel, whenever I watch those videos I just don't feel like they're topics you're genuinely interested in. I love video essays in general but I find myself watching the pretty oddly specific ones rather than the more "mainstream" topics unless it's posted right at the time of it blowing up. For example, I would've watched a trad wife video when it first got popular/picked up by the internet but not so much now.

I kinda agree with this comment. I love your vlog channel, and I feel your passion for renovating homes (I found you when you bought in Palm Springs). Some of the main channel topics are hit or miss for me. Looking forward to the Joshua Tree build and always the tennis content. I always look forward to your videos (both channels). I just seem to connect more with the vlog than the main channel-not sure if that feedback helps or not-but please keep posting😀
Fully agree. I scrolled through recent main channel vids and all the ones I haven't watched yet feel tangential to your interests. Does a millionaire really care about grocery prices increasing? What does a non-married, living-alone, no-kids person have to say about trad wives?
Where I really want Shelby's take is the downfall of Airbnb, the cost of building new quality houses, even the preservation of old house styles vs. new builds and if there's pressure to cheap out.

Her insight and first hand experience would be interesting, maybe that’s why I liked her home renovation so much. I’m hoping she buys a condo or home in LA to renovate. And yes on Airb&b, she hinted that she may convert to a long term rental, but I wish she would revisit the topic. I enjoy seeing her single life in LA along with her interests-she has been very successful, I’d like to hear more about that.

As a guy I can say that I love your videos about finance and building wealth and I would guess a lot of other men do too.
I think you should try making more optimistic videos. Try making a commentary video on some of the things AI could improve in people's lives. Or on how expanding the housing supply would make a lot of things better. Or about how the green energy transition is really starting to pick up and what that could mean for everyone.
When you go on a trip somewhere have you thought about extending your stay by a day and doing a video in each location. Ie a ditl being a tourist in South Africa and keeping a money element to it totalling up what you spend and see etc
Yes, I enjoy your perspective when you’re traveling. I don’t get to travel much and wish I could have done more of it at your age. It’s fun to watch all the places that you go. Definitely gives me ideas for travel.. and those are some of my favorite blogs of yours. Loved that we got to see Monica get engaged and how you & Sam showed up for she & Jason. And would have loved to see more of you in New York!

Is your dryer vent hose cracked ... you should have that replaced it can blow fine dust in your apt, not helpful for your sinus issues.

I’ve loved all your recent videos! I’m surprised they didn’t do better. The TH-cam climate is weird right now. Maybe it’s the changing of seasons? I’ve been busier than usual. They may do better later if you keep putting out reminders on your community post?
I watch most of you vlogs, but the main channel ones I can tell you from the past 25 vids you posted, I only watched:
5 problems with owning an airbnb, tipping culture is out of control, the Drybar owner one, and the house hunting in LA vid.
As a 27 year old girl who is in med school and not much time to spend on youtube, this is the kind of vids that I gravitate toward from your channel.

Maybe this is a creative block and not writers block. I'm a writer and I've gotten writers block but I start writing another book. Then when finish that book I no longer have writers block for the other book.

Everything in LA is interesting to me. I could watch someone just going on walks in different neighborhoods, visiting local organic cafes. Real estate, flipping houses, and estate sales are all fun to watch especially in LA.

I'd love to see some videos where you learn how to do things. Your woodworking class a while ago was cool, you have an ability to pick stuff up fast, going to some cooking classes or art classes or random diy skills and rating the experience would be awesome. Maybe even framed as a series as a carryover from the loneliness epidemic and framing it as social activities or "trying ways to make friends"
As a watcher, TH-cam has appeared pretty weird lately too. I keep getting recommended random videos with hardly any views and not channels that I used to watch
i can see you are struggling but just dont think people care about those topics anymore. i would love to see a reno series or house/apartment tours in LA , you know? something useful and fun instead of random trends explained.
I usually always watch your videos (love from Australia!!) but I'd loooove to see more personal finance content! It motivates me to do better with my own finances and you know people will be nosey and watch it 😂 of course it's your choice though cause being financially transparent can be a double-edged sword!

I would love to see open houses! Low end, and high end, would be great. Actually I was going to suggest more fun places to see in LA, as you already showed us one. It would also be fun to see Malibu and Venice Beach or some thrifting trips. You are young and fun and live in LA, so live it up,! 😆
Try not doing so many serious documentary type videos. Try just some carefree, less serious videos. Like travel in USA, shopping in different places, unique experiences.
If you have never visited Red Rocks Amphitheatre west of Denver, I highly recommend it. I just seen Trevor Hall with the Colorado Symphony perform there last night. Great views and great experience. Also, I highly recommend you taking a trip to the badlands in South Dakota. Needles highway has views that are incredibly spetacular. You might be able to get some decent videos too.

On your main channel, I really love the videos where you interview women who have built businesses. That’s super interesting to me. I also love when you do anything about business building. The video that got me started watching you was the one about Amazon. I heard you talk a couple of times about how you’ve structured your healthcare as a private business owner. I am most interested in that & have been watching TH-cam videos on it. I would love for you to take a deep dive into how you have done it. I know you have talked about a healthcare spending account and I think if you did more lifestyle stuff on the main channel would be so great all about tennis and the different places you can play and just other cold topics like that. But really I do like everything you do and always watch everything. I’m just curious though, do you get the add cents if the Watcher skips the ad?

I’m on Keto and and on zero carbs, so the pasta from Pasta Sisters looked amazing.
I noticed the people I'm following are doing more oversea trips (example: Europe, Japan etc) and that still seems to be the meta and helping their views. I noticed that a lot of your trips are the pandemic metas (Palm Springs and traveling within the US). But the TH-cam algorithm is feeding me a lot of those types of videos. It's unfortunate because I think your blog style videos are a lot more enjoyable than theirs

TH-camr Cash Jordan has had great success with his videos documenting the mess NYC has become with issues like migrants and crime. His views have gone up to way up near half million or more. Maybe Shelby should consider doing videos showing the similar dystopian mess that LA has become?

Video idea if you feel like doing a travel video again: take the Coast Starlight train from LA to Seattle together with Sam or Monica. The views will be magnificent, but the sleeping conditions will be less than ideal for you though :)

Ideas: Tiffanyferg has a video on natural blonde that was great but I would love to see your take on the topic. To possibly up the views on the tradwives video-I would watch a related video where you interview some real tradwives or former tradwives in the style of the other businesswomen videos you have. Maybe a TT one and also a non creator one. Maybe a former tradwife too. Asking similar questions, treating it as a serious topic. One more-Looking at the comments above about the dryer vent made me think about a video telling how to be a good renter. Like what you need to report asap or how landlords depend on renters telling them about repairs in a timely manner. How about basic info like how to turn the water off to the sink or how to flush the toliet when the water is off. My younger friends text me questions like that a lot. You have to learn how to be a renter.

I love your vlogs but I will admit your main channel is just not my vibe! I found you during your double jaw surgery and thoroughly enjoyed watching the renovation vlogs!
There was a period of time where everything that was for the main channel got shown here and you've gotten away from that, which is great!
I just don't relate to many of the topics on the main channel unfortunately.
I think it's also worth noting that I understand this is your job, but you're one of many I watch that feel the need to comment on lack of views. It almost feels like a waitress complaining about lack of tips, just doesn't sit right with me personally.

I love your videos and continue to watch every single one you upload. I find them very inspiring and even if the topic isn't of huge interest to me, I still enjoy your style. That being said, it seems that YT is going much the same way as other content and businesses these days - that is, you really have to niche down to stand out. There is so much noise on the internet and now more than ever, we have to have that USP for someone to choose us over someone else. Catering to too many themes/styles/people in your audience (being too much of a generalist) ends up appealing to no one and can make you seem unfocused. Although niching down can seem really scary at first, and even feel counter-intuitive (like you're alienating people) in the long run, it's what will pull in a more specific audience and ultimately help you grow (in my case, my client base). So yeah, I think with YT and like with any business, niching down and focusing on one main area (and being super specific about who your ideal viewer/client is) will make the difference in the long run. Niching down is hard but starting with what you enjoy, paired with what does well on your channel, could make a huge difference to your viewership and growth. It could ultimately be an exciting pivot for your career/your channel!

About TH-cam being weird now, I know right? TH-cam isn't what it used to be. Many youtubers don't post much these days. Some of them became influencers. Some of them became podcasters. Some of them became Tik Tokers. And some of them are washed up. All those TH-cam changes make me feel sad. :(💔
I am not a youtuber like you, just a regular guy that work for a company like for most people, I do enjoy watching youtube than watching regular tv, When Covid 19 hit a few years ago, when most people stay home, probably watch youtube more than going out, it a change of time every year, there time you make money there time you don't.

Your not the only one, most youtuber fell off the earth after covid-19 was over or not much viewer. Like any other TV show, there good for so many season. I don't see much of the other youtuiber I used to watch now than previous years.
