"The Stiff Woodies were an early version of Nirvana from Olympia, WA Band members included: # Dale Crover (drums) # Krist Novoselic (bass) # Kurt Cobain (guitar) # Mike Dillard (drums) # Buzz Osborne (vocals)"
Stiff Woodies were NOT an early version of Nirvana, but merely a "Melvins + friends" side project. The tracks in this upload are not in the correct order, should be Sin City / Breakdance Boogie / Loose / C'mon And Love Me. The band lineup in this recording is as follows: Sin City: Kurt Flansburg (vocals), Dale Crover (guitar), Matt Lukin (bass), Buzz Osborne (drums) Breakdance Boogie: Krist Novoselic (vocals), Dale Crover (guitar), Matt Lukin (bass), Buzz Osborne (drums) Loose and C'mon And Love Me: Buzz Osborne (vocals, guitar), Matt Lukin (bass), Dale Crover (drums) (classic Melvins lineup) Yeah right, Buzzo on drums. No Kurt Cobain involvement in this recording, but he was part of the Stiff Woodies at some point.
jesus christ, not a single nirvana related video without someone suffering from brainworms. dude killed himself and abandoned his wife, kid, friends and fans. you've been brainwashed into this alternative reality where his wife murdered him. seriously fucked up beyond belief. get help
I love the photo kn him playing guitar at home, cause behind himbtheres a black flag/meat puppets concert poster and a Creedence clerwater vinyl on the box on the floor
I have a feeling they' would not had the success they did with out the element in the name nirvana. All pieces, all elements , the time and place....along with Dave Grohl on the drums made what it was.
As well as I do not think they would had the same influence on me as an adult than at 11. At least IMO. The right place the right time the right stuff ... Like new kids on the block once sang. Lmao Coincidence? Brilliance? Genius? Or simply a strong witted marketing move?
this has been circulating for at least 10 years if not more but it’s been kept in trading circles because its connection to Nirvana is tenuous. Somewhat recently it was discovered that Kurt Cobain is not on this recording and Stiff Woodies was more of a Melvins side project. One of these songs was actually on a tape compilation that came out in the 90s and the lineup was able to be sussed out from that (Dale, Buzz, Krist and Matt Lukin)
are you sure that´s him on the ACDC one? well yeah the scream at the beginning sounds like him but ...well, the rest... or he is making fun of the song and adjusted his voice... idk...
I’m guessing Kurt honed his vocal style at this time, largely influenced by Buzz Osborne’s fried gravel yelling heard in the first two tracks in particular.
Gotta love the deep put on southern drawl on "C'mon and love me" vocals. 😂 PRICELESS!

Exactly! After that they became Skid Row in 1987 then Pen Cap Chew and in the beginning of 1988 Ted Ed Fred and late 1988 Nirvana

Foreshadowing
Just a roadie....with a dream.
The Stiff Woodies- best band name ever. Imagine if Nirvana kept it?

Thanks for uploading the whole thing :) Also, pretty sure that photo from 13:00 or so is from 1989/1990.
i'm amazed. nice recording. btw wondering where u found this one
On TH-cam, just write Nirvana - (insert title of one of the songs).
But I'd say like most Nirvana stuff, it probably leaked on Reddit
When the hell did this leak????
One or two years ago, but I haven't seen anyone combining all the videos to make the full broadcast

@@grimgolf79 yes plus his voice was less developped and his style as well. Pretty sure he was doing even the big man voices in there. Cool to hear
Nope, Kurt was on drums
