If the chamges are basically none except for a rewriting of terms to escape Hasbro's judicial grasp, then I guess they succeeded by their openly expressed metric. It's ideal for new players
Good point!
Most of the monsters are from bestiary 1. Others are from Bestiary 2 and 3, and some adventure paths.
If the GM has bestiary 1-3, there is not much reason to get the monster core. For new GMs that don’t have the ‘old’ books this is perfect for them. I did buy the Monster Core mainly to support Paizo and what they are doing with the Remaster, and I really like the sketch cover.
Thanks for the side by side.
Yeah, it has everything to do with publication. And they should have done this in 2019. But, because they didn’t, now they have to sell their books using the new words. So yeah, if you already have 2e then you’re good. This product version only exists because of lawyers.
It's a weird approach. Not a fan.
You should take a closer look. Several entries have been reworked either for mechanical reasons or OGL/ORC reasons, ghouls, for example.
I had no idea such a low level enemy had to be changed. Will take a look!
@@Classic_DMall of the monsters in the book have had at least a minor rework. The minimum was removal of alignment and rename.
