Hey knuklheds, y'all do me a favor and consider joining KBF if you haven't done so yet. You get back way more than the cost and if you can't do a paid membership, at least join as a free member so we can send you some decals and you can help us wave the flag. Thanks in advance, Chad

I own a itrek9 and the first fish I laned did puncture the deck wit a small pin hole from its dorsal fin. I have since purchased a rubber door mat from hardware store and Velcro it to the deck before outings and works a treat!

I've had my eye on this inflatable. Could be very useful with the camper. Easy to bring it along. Thanks for the overview.

I have the predecessor to this yak, the i11s. I love it! Owned it for two years now and have fished reservoirs, lakes, and the White River last year. I too had some very small leaks, but mine were more at the seams between the pontoons and the main chamber. Tip: do not try FlexSeal and do not spray down the whole boat like I did without testing first! Didn’t work and had to buy ~10 cans of Wd-40 to remove. A lot of elbow grease and time, but I finally got it all off. I bought Toobseal instead and worked like a dream - no loss in PSI! I assume it would work with the iTrek as well (at your own discretion). Thanks Chad for the walk around and discussion.

Definitely agree with moving towards light weight, and getting back to the simpler 2-3 rod and a day-pack for lures. If anything kayak fishing sure does give us the opportunity to complicate things!
This OG rocks an OS Jackson Kilroy that I wouldn't trade for the world, but I can't stand to fish. Also like inflatables for easier truck bed storage with the gate up, when towing our trailer.
Keep up the good work, and definitely hope to see more options like this one.

I fish on a SUP on the lower Colorado River and you're totally right about landing fish because I land 15 to 20 lb stripers and I've got a couple punctures and they are hard to repair

Two years ago I got a freein 11 ft iSUP, last year I got a fishing kayak. Love them both so much but without a doubt more people are fascinated by the fishing SUP. It gives people the inspiration to get out there and do it themselves

How does it compare to the Lynx?

I bought a 12ft Tuxedo Sailor sup, came w kayak seat (I use a cooler to sit on, can stash tackle in there too), a convertible sup/kayak paddle and 3 rod holders. Has d-rings every 12" so I attached an anchor trolley. The first outing I caught a shark. This platform is so easy to stand on and glides through heavy lily pads like it belongs there. Winds are the limiting factor.

I really can’t say enough about my iSUP. I don’t even have an expensive decked out one. But it got me out on the water more and lead me to my first kayak. So when I need a quick fix or the get into some tiny backwaters there’s no craft I’d rather have than my iSUP

    For this price
I feel it should have been supplied with 180 drive
Or an upgraded option at the ordering time.
Having forward only is kinda b.s.

Really cool boat, I ended up buying the Kuda instead because I think the material is thicker but isups/yaks are an area of growth for sure.

I own an i11s. Love it! I purchased an itrek 11. Quickly noticed the drive well was not centered - the drive unit sat in at an angle to the centre line of the bow! I worked with the retailer and had it replaced. However, I must point out that the replacement had the same problem with the drive well. Unbelievable! The third boat they gave me had a properly centre-aligned drive well. I had to go through 2 hobbies to get a proper drive well - ridiculous! Does this mean hobie’s build quality is starting to go downhill? I certainly hope not but I do believe my i11s is considerably better in build quality than the itrek.

The build quality is poor for a luxury boat.... All i trek I inspected have fine scratches all over the body.

I have the prior 11 foot model, the i11s, very similar dimensions. These are extremely stable, light weight, sit high, comfortable, capable kayaks.

Can we just save this is a soft shell lynx 🙂

They are both very stable and light weight. The inflatable is the more stable and a bit lighter weight. The Lynx wins with much more attachment options cannot puncture/deflate. The Lynx scratches, dents and has a somewhat fragile surface, but cannot sink. For light weight portability and stability the itrek 9 gets high praise.

I couldn't imagine paying very much for that and I'm sure Hobie is very proud of it
