@@loveme_official554 I have this dilemma too. I have so many irrelevant followers but don't want to lose all my content and memories from my account! :(
Hi, I've had a travel Instagram account for my blog since 2016, but have never been consistent on the app until about 6 months ago. I spent long stretches of time between 2016 and now not using the app at all (sometimes an entire year) and I'm now stuck at ~3,700 followers no matter how often I post, engage, or share stories. The first reels I shared in the beginning of 2022 got 12k-20k views but now the rest are stuck between 1.5k-2.5k unless I collaborate with a feature account. It's so frustrating as I see accounts that are way newer than mine with hundreds fewer posts and have 10k+ followers already. I'm wondering if my previous inactivity over the years is the reason why my growth feels so painfully slow now? Am I better off just making a new account? Thanks!
It's possible! Before starting over, I'd try analyzing what was working about the reels that performed really well, and try focusing on posting that type of content consistently for 2-3 months. If you still feel stuck, consider starting over!
Was it on your already existing account? If you're going to change the type of content you post, and your current audience is not into it, starting over is probably best.
Hi, I have a question please: My current account is from 2017 and saw now that I changed my username 18 times. Today, I created a new blank account and saw the newer account is better in the search algorithm. Should I switch? It bothers me that it shows that I changed the username 18 times and it harms the search algorithm as I see. My account is private, however it doesn't have too much of engagement. I upload often, and I have 240 followers of friends and people I know, while only maximum of 100 people see my stories, and maximum of 25 likes per post regularly. And there are some ghost or inactive accounts still follow me since I created it and sometimes spam bot direct messages. My account is only made for following friends and people I know, it's a personal private account, not for a business or professional.
My engagement is around 5-10% but the issue is my likes only come from my friends which means Instagram isn’t pushing my content. I have about 90 followers and I only got 95 plays. That’s more proof. So, trying to figure?
@@StephanieKase - Yup, been consistent 2x a week since Dec 17. Every Sunday and Wednesday, I post a music cover reel. Just to give some more context. My account started as a personal account in 2015 where I posted music here and there. I turned it into a business account sometime in 2020.

Thank you so much! I have a question: I started my account years ago and i got a lot of engagement. Then I changed my style 3-4 times and every time I changed my style, I deleted all my previous artwork. I did this several times (5-6 times), that every time I deleted all my previous artworks and started over. Most followers were gained in the beginning. Now my engagement is awful although I post daily, it's getting worse and worse. My concern of starting new account is that it'll be hard in the beginning as well. I might not get any view or 0 followers for a while. What do you suggest in this case? I would love to start over, but not sure if it's the best strategy. Thank you!

The important thing is that if a potential client visits your account, can they easily see how to hire/purchase from you?? If your old posts make that difficult to navigate, you could sift through them and only keep ones that help with your personal brand! Otherwise, it's not a bad thing to have them up at all!
I do all of that and lose followers like crazy.and I have seen some people on the other end having only 3 post and 0 reels swimming in the 10k followers. How does that happen?
More than likely buying them or they aren't real followers :) Those followers will do nothing "real" for their account (help engagement, create sales). If you're losing followers on a consistent basis, your audience is not in tune with your content. It might be better to start again.

Hi there I really loved your video I was wondering if you can help me. I have had my account for 6 years I grew quite well on there to 5,000 followers and then I stopped posting for 2 years due to being at university. I did do a post recently and it only got 60 likes and my stories only get seen by only 20-80 people. I have looked at the profiles of my followers and a lot of them haven’t posted since 2020 or 2021. I am thinking it might be best to start over or should I try reengagement ?
I've been at this for 7-8 years. Ever since I lost my main account back in 2022, I've been on instagram's shit list and have had a hell of a time getting any interaction on my posts. I've given up at this point. I make decent content, I'm consistent, mindful of what times I post, use engaging captions, use stories, use questionnaires and polls in my stories, even tried reels...I've *LOST* followers and my post likes and engagement is PLUMMETING no matter what I do. same thing with tiktok. for whatever reason, social media just doesn't like me..never broke any rules, it just happened one day. I especially gave up on hashtags because I don't show up in them anymore; my account is too small. I don't even show up on the explorer page. first it was because I was shadowbanned but then I realized that only top accounts are even shown when looking through hashtags..
I have almost 1000 followers on my account but those people are all from old fandom and I changed to draw my original characters and others fandom, the likes went from 200-400 to 40-100 on my post but there’re still (100-200likes on my story) I even got 200-400shares around 4 posts and then I disappeared for 4 months (I know it’s bad habit but I was busy with my college work) when I come back again, the likes went from 40-100 to 20-40…what should I do?
Hello) nice video ❤ I created my instagram account in 2021, and since then I haven’t been consistent( because I created it to connect with friends, and be inspired by bloggers). I had like 100 followers. Then I decided to become an influencer and started to post some reels, stories( never consistent- once in couple of weeks, months- sometimes didn’t post anything in 3 months). One more problem- I changed languages of my videos ( firstly I made them in Ukrainian, then I learned English and wanted to have English instagram account). Also my type of content was never clear ( from lifestyle to science to filmmaking) and in different languages, and not consistent 😂should I try to continue and post consistently with one niche ( I have 170 subs now who are my friends, etc), or start over with one niche ? (Thanks ahead ❤)
i have 1200 follower..i was not active when i open this account in 2015...now i post regularly but reach is only 60-100..should i post consistently or open a new one?
hello! my instagram account starting with good rate, my reels were getting likes and fews that were satisfying, but after few months, the reach has dropped down and the reels maximum get 200-300 likes with 2k-3k views, ans the reach is slow, even tho that i post every other day, what should i do or how can i fix this ?
Hello 👋🏻 thank you for this video. I have my account since 2017 and back in 2021 it did really really well I even got 1m views on a post 500k on another and just basically every bad post even got tons of views. 11000 people followed me in two months. I got up to 13k and then it just stopped and started going down to 12k. I didn’t do anything shady but I wasn’t consistent and took many many mental health breaks during covid for one month each time. In 2022 I deactivated my account for 11 months and now I’ve reactivated it again. My first story after the return got 3000 views but my posts got 400 likes While my reel got 2000 views. Do you think I should start over?
I will admit, I did have a friend who wanted to test my account and boost followers (fake followers). I was also sponsored by a company who had more than 10 accounts with followers ranging from 500K-2M; I’m assuming every time they reshared my posts their followers were bought as well since my followers would increase immediately but barely any comments, likes or saves. This was all happening 2-3 years before the pandemic. My account went from 15K+ to now 11.2K and currently an average of 300-1K views and 30-90 likes. I’ve been having the urge to start a new account but still feel uncertain about it, I guess because I have my own little community but I know I have potential to aim for more if that makes sense
I had a few reels that went viral and I gained a good amount of followers however they aren’t the “right” followers and I think instagram is pushing my content to the wrong demographic. Is there any way to reset my algorithm & who they push me to? Thinking of just starting over 😕
If your current audience seems completely NOT in tune with what you are doing, then it might be best to start over! First, I would try spending serious time interacting with accounts in your niche - where you would want your content pushed to! If that does not help, consider starting a new account!
@yourblissful7758 sure! I didn’t delete my old one, I just added a new one to my account by using a different email. Also I think on the app you can log out and when you log back click “new account” or whatever it’s called.
I'd say that's pretty typical! IG will push out a new account much more earlier on to find out what types of audiences like the content. Getting more specific with your niche/ideal client might help a lot. Are you posting a good amount of reels? That's the best way to grow your reach!
I started my page back in 2022 and Instagram actually pushed it a lot. One of my reels got 120k views and after that it was basically 10k 15k reel views.I had 500 followers at that time but I stopped posting and after a while my reach dropped down to 5k reel views and I restarted it after a year (now) and my reel view is limited to 1k or 1.5k and my story views are 80 views maximum with 700 followers. I dont know what to do. Should I start a new page ?or remove the inactive followers and continue with this page.
I didn't buy followers but my account is so old and when I click through the followers randomly most haven't been posting since 2012 or so. So I guess there is no chance to bring them back haha ;(
Actually It had a private account before. Then in Dec 2022, I made it as a public profile and started Posting. I changed my niche again and again. I posted about different stuff every time. Sometimes, I posted about travel and study or religion etc. I also used instagram ads many times. Now I am serious about Instagram growth and also selected a niche. I want to be consistent with that niche. My engagement rate is 0.19%. Should I start a new account or use the same one?
My personal account(with family photos 📸, road trips ✈️, selfies 🤳etc) has 2.000+ followers!!! Started in 2019, My best post barely has 290 likes and the last 3 months my newest posts have below 60 likes 🙃!!.. I was thinking 🤔 to start to create a specific content about languages 🇬🇷🇨🇵🇩🇪🇳🇱🇮🇹 and their differences 😎👑!!.. Should I delete my old and make a brand new IG account based on my specific content 🤔? Or Make another account and boost it with my personal one ? 🤔
I'm a big fan of combining personal and business content - I don't see why you can't just shift your content on your current account! Bring your audience along in the journey with you!
Hey Love your content so much 🫶🏻: Its very helpful. I started my instagram page in 2020 , just when tiktok is banned in India and reels were introduced into Instagram. My reels got very good views back then but followers were not increased comparatively. Then due to whole covid scenerio, I was not giving my 100% to my page & followers , took so many breaks , posted here there. Also I joined engagement group once and so many bot accounts were added to my page when I realised this is not happening I removed so many bot accounts but I guess still many are there. I m not growing since las year . Thinking to start fresh with new page. What would you suggest? Plzzz answer it would be great 🫶🏻

So in March 2024 I had like 600 followers and I get around 150-200 likes and then for some reason I stop Post April may and June and now I get around 40 like so should I create new one or revive this account? Reply please
I would keep showing up for 2-3 months and posting consistently, try to build that engagement back up before abandoning the account!
If your content is the same, try re-engaging. If you're rebranding or beginning a business journey, start new!
Try using this IG checklist! stephaniekase.com/checklistyt
Try posting consistently for 12 straight weeks. If you do not see good engagement rates after that (1-3%), try a new account.
@@StephanieKase Thank u
i have 1560 followers but usally only get 300 reach and 50-80likes from my followers. Is it the case?
A 1-3% engagement rate is normal, so that sounds about right for your follower count!
Hello) nice video ❤
I created my instagram account in 2021, and since then I haven’t been consistent( because I created it to connect with friends, and be inspired by bloggers).
If you've been posting consistently for a few months without seeing traction, I'd start over!
i have 1200 follower..i was not active when i open this account in 2015...now i post regularly but reach is only 60-100..should i post consistently or open a new one?
Was your reach ever higher?? It might be a matter of a need for creating more engaging content!
hello! my instagram account starting with good rate, my reels were getting likes and fews that were satisfying, but after few months, the reach has dropped down and the reels maximum get 200-300 likes with 2k-3k views, ans the reach is slow, even tho that i post every other day, what should i do or how can i fix this ?
Try niching down and seeking out a specific audience so that IG knows who would like to engage with your content!
My first story after the return got 3000 views but my posts got 400 likes
While my reel got 2000 views.
Do you think I should start over?
If you are still targeting the same general audience you had before, keep the account! It's just going to take some work to revive it!
Hmm it sounds like you have decent engagement! But, a lot of fake followers could prevent you from moving forward.
@@StephanieKase thank you for the helpful info! I’ll try this.
@yourblissful7758 sure! I didn’t delete my old one, I just added a new one to my account by using a different email. Also I think on the app you can log out and when you log back click “new account” or whatever it’s called.
TH-cam is doing much better.
Yes, we love TH-cam!!
If I delete all my fake followers can I revive the account or should I still start fresh?
It depends on how many there are! If it seems feasible you could try it!
Thank you for getting back to me!@@StephanieKase
In the starting i had good reach but now it is decreasing day by day what should i do ……
I'd say that's pretty typical!
If you are not seeing a 1-3% engagement rate, I would definitely consider starting a new account!
I deleted ny insta account. Do i need to wait 30 days to use same number to create a new account?
I'm not sure! Might be a question for Meta!
I didn't buy followers but my account is so old and when I click through the followers randomly most haven't been posting since 2012 or so. So I guess there is no chance to bring them back haha ;(
Starting new might be a good idea!
Should I start a new account or use the same one?
.19% is pretty low! If you've tried posting consistently without successful results, might be best to start over!
How do you calculate engagement?
Look in your professional dashboard for specific information about accounts engaged! Divide that by total followers!
Plzzz answer it would be great 🫶🏻
In this scenario, I'd definitely recommend starting new!
