  • Soilless Farming, a technique of growing crops without soil, has grown exponentially in Nigeria and Africa, over the years to the enviable state it is now.
It all started as a dream, inspired by a documentary that Debo Onafowora saw on CNN about a decade ago, that crops can be grown commercially without soil. This dream was passionately driven from a very humble beginning to the success and systems change level where it is today.
Presently, over a hundred thousand people have been trained by BIC Farms Concepts and other Organizations in the Industry; several thousand acres of Hydroponics greenhouses have been built, from just a small wooden greenhouse built on his demonstration farm in the town of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The dream has extended to several cities and countries. More than a thousand permanent jobs have been created within the value chain from this same industry and more disciplines will still emerge as more potentials are discovered.
Therefore, in order not to lose the lofty details of this story, Adebowale Onafowora accepted to do this documentary from his personal perspective, and that of the major actors in this epic food system change endeavor.
