Fully synthesized engine sounds

  • Since I'm busy working on another video, and I havent uploaded a "proper" video in a while, I thought I'd make a showcase of an attempt at synthesizing engine sounds.
I demonstrate 2 V12 sounds, and a V10 sound. All of these sounds are very unpolished and unedited, other than the fact I tuned the EQ for the off throttle sound files (so it actually sounds like the throttle is closed).
If I end up getting these sorts of sounds with filters and effects to sound decent/convincing, I might make a tutorial/walk-through of my method.

Sounds like something I'd hear in an 80s racing game lol

Probably, afterall the sound is very simple

What’s happening as far as the tutorial/walk-through?

Not too long after this video, AngeTheGreat uploaded his engine simulation video, which produces way better sounds, so I pretty much cancelled the idea of doing this

You should definitely recreate these sounds in the sim and export it to beam

I know it sounds "synthetic" because it is, lol, but have you tried adding harmonics?

I havent done anything other than simulate the firing order with layers of different frequencies, however engine sounds in real life also have other components other than just the explosions in the cylinder, which this doesnt simulate (like imagine the intake resonances and exhaust headers). Realistically you can only fake this, which i wouldnt know how to at the moment.
