    I am thinking about to get the new 50mm 1.0, I just got the Nikon ZF, I still have the 50mm 1.1 M mount, don't understand why people don't like this lens much, my copy is sharp.

    Thanks for another stylish video. I’m after the perfect 50 and I think it will be the Summilux will be the one as you’re assessment is right, the Nokton is just too big. In terms of your videos which you clearly invest a huge effort, it would be great to see more of your photos, more time to digest them. All the best from England Marcus

      Thank you for watching and your support! Nokton is a bit too big in my opinion. Let me try to put up more photos in my next video. :)

    This VM Nokton 50mm f1 lens Asph is the best alternative for original M normal lenses, indeed.

      not if you like the pretty bokeh of the original Noctilux 50/1.0, unfortunately that can't justify the price

    I can't wait to try it on my Canon R6 once it's available, as it should be the first manual focus lens for Canon RF mount that supports not only focus peaking, but the actual focus guide - as if you switched your autofocus lens to manual. If I like it probably my EF 50 1.2 has to go ^^

    • @Tahusaco

      Yes, I used a Pro-Mist for the video, but I didn't use a Pro-Mist filter on the Nokton images shown in the video. Hope that helps!

    Can you see in the viewfinder electronically if the subject is in focus?

    • @Tahusaco
      @Tahusaco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Using an electronic viewfinder, you can view the focusing peaking with this lens. Yes you can tell whether it is in focus.

    Tahusa, greetings and salutations from Okinawa, Japan. I am on the fence between this Nokton f1.0 and a used Noctilux 0.95. This video, your review has given me pause for thought. Is this Nokton 50mm f1.0 VM in your opinion better optically than the current Noctilux 0.95? I'd be mounting it on the M3, MP, M11, and SL2-S. Continued happiness and success to you and yours. Be Blessed, "Doc Chaps"

    • @Tahusaco
      @Tahusaco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for your comment. I think Noctilux 0.95 gives you better mood, “softer” images compare with Nokton. It creates very nice cinematic shots and warmer tone. In contrast, Nokton 50/1 gives you extremely good details and sharpness, clean images that is more “hard” and cooler tone.
      It depends on what kind of tone you want to create? Sharper (Nokton), creamy and cinematic (Noctilux)
      The main reason I am still holding back for a Noctilux 0.95 is because of its weight. So I am still keeping my Noctilux 50/1.0 for now.

      @chapsibnnoel3626 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tahusaco thank you for your quick and much appreciated response to my inquiry. I don't want that SUPER sharp, clinical look at all. I like sharp but prefer character over clinical. And while your concerns wrt weight is fair, the weight doesn't bother me so much -- especially if I were to mount it on the SL2-S. And I'm very sure about that because I already own the Noctilux 75 f1.25. Gorgeous hunk on glass! I'm now going to seriously consider the Noctilux 50 0.95 and/or the Summilux 35 FLE to complete my kit. Continued happiness and success to you and yours. Be Blessed, Doc Chaps

    Do you think that this lens has as much character as the 0.95 Noctilux ?

    • @Tahusaco
      @Tahusaco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it depends on your preference. I prefer lenses that is less sharp at wide open to give me more tolerance. 0.95 gives me different field curvature that makes me feel like a painting.

      @@Tahusaco True. I love the 0.95, apart from the weight.

    WRT min focus distance. sure, the Voigtlander may have a shorter MFD of 0.9m but it's hardly an advantage. the subject in focus at that distance, the CA and color fringing is much more pronounced compared to focus @ 1m. IMO, Voigtlander should have just made the MFD to be 1.0m because it's not doing anyone any favor by making it 0.9m.

    • @Tahusaco

    I wonder how this lens would be useful on the M system as the rangefinder needs to be accurately calibrated with such shallow depth of field at F1.0. The lens itself might also need to be calibrated properly at the factory. This is more evident on digital especially with high megapixel sensors and less so on film. From what I know, after sale support from Voigtlander is almost non-existent. I had to send my Nokton 35mm f1.2 to DAG Camera for calibration since it back focus right out of the box. Had 3 other Leica lenses to check my rangefinder to make sure the rangefinder calibration is not the culprit. Cosina Japan never responds to my inquiry.

    Thank you for your sharing on the Nokton 50, f1.0.. I have purchased this lens some months ago, however the purple fringing on bright edges and vignette is quite obvious if the lens fully open. Do you observe those problem too?

      It is also corrected by clicking a button. Purple fringing is simply rendered depth.

    how do you like this compare to the tt 50 0.95?? I am using the m11

    • @Tahusaco
      @Tahusaco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. I haven’t yet tried the TT 50/0.95 lens. From what I read online, some personal finding is that TT 50/0.95 is much softer and has lower contrast at wide open. Nokton 50/1, however, gives you a much sharper and more solid image at its maximum aperture value. TT 50/0.95 great for some b&w shots or moody shots at night.

    Extra sharpness at the cost of bokeh. Shame, I liked the Noctilux 50/1.0's bokeh, the newer lenses are more clinical.
