You weren't kidding that store had sooooo freaking many!!!
so many! I can't wait to go back and hunt again.
Beautiful! Vows is gorgeous!
So many gorgeous books!! Loved coming along with you as you shopped and seeing all the beautiful covers and stepbacks!
glad you joined me!
YES!!!!! I love this soooo much!!!
Love book shopping vlogs, and your dedication. That romance section was huge!
I was getting so overwhelmed.
Oh my gosh I would DIE to go into that place!!!
I love that you 1) went there twice and 2) ended up with a signed copy of a book!!!
it was too fun to not go back!
The cutaway in the Spencer book! (I'm gonna stop yelling through this video, LOL.)
I loved this video. What a great book store. I would go crazy there. I wish they had one in my area.
I definitely underestimated this place.
The damn mustache in Mischief!!!!
RIGHT!?
I know a lot about vintage historical romances since I am a vintage person ... so to speak.
I was a pre-teen when Kathleen Woodiwiss' The Flame and The Flower was first published, and I was caught up in the first modern "bodice ripper" in real time, having only read chaste Harlequins before that point. Kathleen Woodiwiss blew our collective heads off in the 1970s.
I am stunned that you have Patricia Gaffney's Sweet Everlasting. That's one of my favorite historicals. It has some real American history in it, which makes sense since Gaffney was noted for that. (She doesn't just write wallpaper historicals.) Her books are a treasure.
I also recommend LaVyrle Spencer. I haven't read Vows, but I've read The Gamble and that was very good.
Just want to say one thing ... don't just buy books based on step backs. There are some absolute classics without step backs. I honestly don't understand the obsession with these.
Speaking of medievals, I would suggest four: Laura Kinsale's For My Lady's Heart (she is superb.), Judith McNaught's Kingdom of Dreams, Penelope Williamson's Keeper of the Dream, and Mary Jo Putney's Uncommon Vows.
ETA: I always get this mixed up. Blame my old age: Penelope Williamson is the sister of Candice Proctor who also wrote wonderful historical romance. They are both very good and I would never pass up any romance I see of theirs. I know Williamson no longer writes romance. Don't know about Proctor.
haha step backs are definitely a visual thing for me. i have a ton without but when I go thrifting I definitely look for those more often. stepbacks are definitely "in" right now so perhaps it's more a trend but they just don't do them anymore and it's a shame. it's a big selling point for the sub genre that I think publishers are missing out on.
That Patricia one! I need ❤
yeah you do!
Thanks for the memories
you're welcome!
The Kleypas Prince of Dreams!!!! (okay I didn't stop yelling)
hahaha I love all the reactions.
The selection!!! 😍 I don’t have anything like that near me! 😭 Such a fun Vlog/haul!
yeah I was shocked and pleasantly surprised cuz I usually don't either!
What an amazing book store! I don’t know how you didn’t come out with half the place! 😂
it was so tempting! and I still have credit to use from selling her books.
Oh my God you found the holy grail and for me I can’t find those books . Where Barnes and Noble please?
this was actually from a uses book store and not Barnes and Noble.
You bought way less than I would have. I would have had zero self contol 😂
I talked myself out of a lot lol like I want to go back and get that ghost horse one lol
And you got one SIGNED?!?
this surprised me! I didn't see it when I got it.
