    We are so hyper fixated on the results that I believe sometimes we forget to enjoy the time we use to create it. And this can be said both in art and in our day to day life. Video was incredible and I love the cinematography in it. Please keep making more :)

    • @alyssayeungofficial

      THIS!!! You said it perfectly… When I’m so focused on the result, I’m not really having fun anymore. I get scared about if it’s going to turn out good or not, instead of doing it because I love it. And that mindset slips into everyone’s daily lives… Thank you for watching and for your insight. I will keep making videos!! 🌜🌟

    i'm a fulltime artist and what you describe is what is making me hate the thing i devoted my entire life to. thanks for the reminder to try to take things slow. money is nice but i'd rather be poor and happy than keep chasing unachievable art speeds for more money and more misery. studio environments are the worst for this and i didn't have this problem before i started working for studios

    I’ve been drawing for 8 years now, and it’s been rough sometimes, but I think at the heart of every artist is to show the beauty of the world around us. It’s an instinct, to want to be able to show people what you see as art in the world. This video was really sweet to me, and so have no doubt you’ll become great over time. Take it slow and enjoy the world in your pencil.

    I'm rarely moved to commenting but I had to. This is the same thing I am struggling with and I've been so hard on my self for not being able to draw and create all the art that I envision in my mind. I feel like I should just be good and I should just be great at this thing that I want so bad.
    And then in bed last night I realised that I am the only one pressuring myself to be perfect, I started this because I enjoyed the process of discovering something new, and exploring what art means to me. But instead of focusing and enjoying the process of learning, I am now focused on the supposed final version of myself I am seeing in the future and getting frustrated at myself for not being there already.
    Anyway, one long ramble short, thank you for putting this into the world and for reflecting our shared struggle. I am also thinking of starting to share my journey on TH-cam and seeing you doing it is giving me the courage to start as well.
    You have a subscriber for life.

      Wow… your comment hits really close to home. It’s so shocking and comforting to realize that other people feel the exact same way as you. As a kid, I always loved to colour and draw, but when I got older, the pressure to be perfect made me lose that happy, magical feeling it made me feel. And I love how you brought up the “final version” of ourselves because there is no final version, there are only better versions. It’s a life journey… We never stop growing even when we think we’ve finished learning.
      Pls share your art and your journey on TH-cam!! That is an amazing and beautiful thing to share. I’m so thankful to have come across your comment, it’s incredibly healing. Wishing you and your art all the best 🎨🖌

    I'm doing the exact opposite right now. I mean, being forced to do. Just finished my undergrad and now getting my master degree, but it's being too... Calm? I actually don't have much to do yet, and I just got out of a super stressful moment (the end of my undergrad). And it's killing me, having nothing to do, not being forced to get out of my comfort zone at every minute. I got so used to that constant anxiety that calming down is actually making me fearful. Like, I'll have to pay for that moment of calmness later, as if I didn't deserve or as if it was wrong to rest. I feel the fear every day of how it's going to be once this is over, and because of that it's really hard to enjoy my rest. What have society done to us?

I’m still so young; not even an adult yet, but I already feel this huge pressure to make progress, constantly improve, crank out new art pieces frequently enough, be the best. It’s so mentally exhausting that I’ve found myself to completely have lost all the enjoyment of the art making process. The only focus is results.This film was so well crafted and it truly inspired me. I appreciate every detail and thought put into making this ❤️

It’s because I felt myself going crazy at the pace of things that I decided yesterday to take an extensive break from the socials, and I can already feel the difference in my head, pacing, and actually am spending more time in my studio than I have in weeks. This is such a beautiful and cinematic video!! I adore the lighting/ color correction you’ve used to highlight the fast paced life and your message.
    I’ve always wondered if because art and creativity take time it’s why society is so hell bent on squashing it. It’s not “productive” so we replace it with robots generating it more efficiently, but there is great power in rejecting what we’ve been told since we were young and slowing down. I’ve been on a journey this past year in a half to unlearn so much nonsense and to listen to my body again. I recommend the book laziness does not exist. It helped me reframe my mindset about productivity and I’m able to provide a safe space where I can create without any pressure to finish, to make something or even monetize it. We need a break from all of this and I’m so happy you’re sharing your story about it!

    • @alyssayeungofficial
      @alyssayeungofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s such a good point you make. I feel like our society definitely prioritizes speed and efficiency, so it permeates everything we do and how we think. I also find people tend to think of art as unimportant because it doesn’t serve humanity. But that’s not true. Art inspires and brings life in our sometimes dull world. That book sounds really interesting! Thanks for your thought-provoking comment 🐛

    • @artbyinky
      @artbyinky หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alyssayeungofficial I agree! Art is super important as it’s not only inspiring, but can help us heal too. I also recommend the book rest is resistance. It’s a very progressive way of thinking about rest not just for your health, but for the world around you and those who came before you. I struggled with breaks and relaxing until I saw it as a way to push against the way society pushes us. I wish you the best on your journey. Life is much more beautiful when it’s being enjoyed at a slower state. We miss so much when we’re consumed by work and productivity.

    Bro this is what I needed. This resonates with me especially since I have adhd and I have this irrational fear of being left behind, but like this saying goes, the long way is the short way. If i keep trying to "shortcut" or speed up the artistic process, when i havent established a strong foundation, ironically, im worse off that way and stifling my growth.

    • @alyssayeungofficial
      @alyssayeungofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know so many people who have add/adhd and they tell me how hard it is to function in today’s society. I could see why you would have such a fear with the overwhelming amount of information and hustle culture. But as you said, speeding things up doesn’t necessarily make things better. Please go at your own pace, even if society tried to rush you. Rooting for you!

    It’s a lovely perspective. I feel like as people we tend to focus on results over the process and that’s generally the mindset growing up due to school. And then once you transition to adulthood (or even sooner) it can lead to living day by day almost on autopilot, looking at things you want, wish you had, places to be, things yet to accomplish, who you wish you were and creating this big mess of end results in your mind that can feel unattainable or like you’re falling behind. But when you start to change that perspective to the everyday process, the little wins, the growth and just working towards who you want to be without timeframe. It becomes a lot less messy.
    Also your videos are very well made and it’s only a matter of time before you start to see results! But of course enjoy the process and the growth to come!
