I'm a chauffeur, and we have a Town Car with 296,000 miles. It's still in service, and the customers love it. My bosses Town Car has over 400,000 miles on it.
have a 98 with 232K and an 06 with 260k. Cars are whisper quiet. Even my P71 that I beat the hell out of was nice and smooth. Only got rid of it because the body was practically rusting off of the frame.
Well if buyers wanted these HUGE cars they would be in demand. But all the younger cars want today are small to midsize which will dictate their buting habits in the future. The full size car today or recent past grew up in the 1960s and 1970s. Yes they complained about the smaller cars of the 1980s.
My first car was a 2001 Lincoln Town Car with 495,000 Miles, ran like a best and lasted me a while until I decided to sell it, currently own a 2009 Town Car and still love these panther platforms
J. Ramz.78 dude look up a 96 crown Vic it has the same exact interior ... How am I trolling. I'm pretty sure saying a 1996 all hard plastic interior is trolling. Now a 03 Navigator interior is lovely for the year
That Guy You should try the new Navigator. They legitimately have the best interior ever produced; even Rolls Royce/Bentley and MB don’t compare. The carpet is like 2” thick.
That's one thing that people never talk about with the final generation Town Car...interior fit and finish. It's very impressive, with good materials and very small panel gaps.
Just over a year ago I bought a beautiful black 2003 Lincoln Town Car Signature with just over 118, 000 miles on it. $5,000 cash scored me this beauty and I love this car! I just turned 49 and driving this car is second nature...no problem going from 45 to 80 on I 10 in Texas, It unwinds quite nicely! Long Live Lincoln Town Car! Don't Fu*k with it
I am looking into either a Jaguar XJ8 or a Lincoln Town Car 2006/2008. The Lincoln scores on replacement parts and repairs. Still have a bunch of homework to do on both. Both have a bunch of old school features.
@@paulbroderick8438 Don't even think Trust me, the Town car any day over jaguars Lincoln is the best car for point A to B in best comfort and reliability However if you want something between a Lincoln and a Jaguar Go check Lincoln Ls, it has a jaguar v8 if I'm not mistaken and the Design and interior of a Lincoln But the Engine does have some problems, well because of the Fast jaguar engine installed in it Thanks for reading.
+Alex Dean It truly is. In a way, the Panthers were the last "American" car--they were big, simple, and comfortable. We may never see anything like them again.
Alex Dean I'm a cop and I can say say in full confidence that I don't miss a thing about the crown vics. They were slow, uncomfortable, handled poorly and drank fuel like crazy.
Most of the people that bought these are either dead or so old they are not driving any more and outside of the livery trade, there really isn't a New car market for these cars any more.. The Lincoln LS was a great car, but it was too expensive to compete with Cadillac and Lexus with their then CTS and IS or ES
califdad4 no, the Lincoln LS was competing against a Cadillac Catera or STS back then. And the STS was far more successful, because it was more powerful and better equipped. A 300 horsepower Northstar shit on that Lincoln LS, nobody wanted one. The STS was a horrible car in my opinion, but it sold very well and was indeed very fast. Cadillac killed the Lincoln LS.
A Lincoln Town Car is the only way to travel to or from the airport in style, comfort and luxury. You just sink into the leather of the backseat and pass out to enjoy the peace and quiet that you couldn't get on the airplane.
I own a 2001 Town Car. Just a great reliable and comfy car. Like riding on a cloud. It's like a classic car with modern technology and styling. Love it!
Absolutely! I bought one too, about two months ago. I'm only 19 and it's funny seeing people's reaction to it. It's a lot of car for not a whole lot of money.
I just test drove one the other day..and just like when I test drove one a few years ago..I was very disappointed in the car. First of all..the air conditioning fan is HORRIBLE. Incredibly weak..and it could barely keep the car cool on an 86 degree day. My old Lincoln from the early 80's could literally freeze you to death on a 100 plus day. Second..the ride was very busy and "jiggly". Every ripple on the road was felt..albeit not in a hard fashion..but still..a car this big and heavy shouldn't be transferring that much motion and vibration into the cabin. Third..The acceleration was very poor and inadequate for a car this big. Fourth..The interior just felt cheap. The wood trim really did look like plastic. The leather felt more like vinyl. And for such a large sedan the interior didn't feel as large as it should. No comparison to the beautiful ride of the Town Cars of the 80's. No thanks..
A full frame, RWD, V8 is the perfect platform for a "Luxury Car". They should have kept tweaking that, instead of dropping it. That was a huge mistake. I snagged a 2006 Designer from Alabama with 52K miles, and I'm glad I did. I keep it garaged, out of Ohio weather, and put maybe 500 miles per year on it. I think I'll grab another to use as a daily driver before they're all beat up. I don't give a damn what anybody else thinks of them. I've got mine, to hell with everybody else!
I just snagged a 2006 Designers Series with 34K. It is painted A darker shade of silver (Pewter Metallic) that was only offered that year. I love this car and will probably never sell it. They were great.
0rnery the problem that I find with modern day "luxury" is that's it's all in the infotainment. "How much expensive deal can we shove into this cheap frame" There's no soul, no character. I don't feel connected to the car. With older cars, esp my town car and other older panther platform vehicles, I do get a sense of that. The car has enough to keep me comfortable and entertained (mainly music) and the soft suspension and sturdy frame make me feel as though I'm connected to the road but not abused by it.
0rnery the manufacturer follows there financial benefits. They are not ready to care about there old Customers needs. They are an aggressive comparators. We who owns the Towncar since 90s get the chance to know the meaning of comfort 😂
I am 21 and a software engineer. I bought one of these as my first car while in university. It's rock solid reliability and amazing ability to insulate me from the rest of the world is why I chose it. I frequently drive 600 mile trips on weekends to visit family in other cities and it is perfect. And despite what people think, it handles cities well. I never have a hard time making it though down town Ottawa finding a parking spot, before I go to a pub. Plus it makes being stuck it traffic tolerable. I simply turn on a good radio station or a audio book and wait for traffic to get moving. I've been stuck behind an accident before and had to wait 2 hours for it to be cleared on a northern Canadian highway (no detour around it). I sat in the back with my little brother and watched a movie, on a fucking full sized TV I was transporting! I am personally going to drive this car until it's in the dirt. They literally don't make them like this any more. I don't car if it gets 15mpg in town and 25mpg on the highway.
Don’t forget: 2003 was a major chassis upgrade for the Panther platform: zero-offset wheels (2002-earlier do not fit), new frame, new engine cradle, etc. To your credit, you touched on this but only lightly. There is a big difference in the feel of a 2002 versus 2003 Town Car. The highest-mileage one I saw was 589,000 miles, at which point it needed a transmission. The engine was fine. My Town Car L once fit a full-size bureau and more in the back seat with the doors closed! Later on, I loaded it with 1100 pounds of 18” square x 3” concrete pool pavers in the floor, seats and trunk. Thanks to self-leveling, it got home with no issues. Trivia: the Town Car L will self-level up to 700 pounds in the trunk. That’s two big fat dead Mafia dons.
I just inherited my father's 2003 Town Car. I was considering selling it, but after detailing it and seeing just how many unique little features and amenities it had, I think I may just hang onto this relic. It has 89,585 original miles, so it has lots of life left and was pristinely kept.
but you dont need a real job!!! no onoe wants these cars anymore because of the stigma that goes with them - big, bulky, bad on gas..... got both my 98 and 06 for under 2000CAD (separate sales). Hell you can afford one on a minimum wage, part time job. Insurance is also laughable; under 150 for both cars. I'd suggest getting one before I come along and snatch it up ;)
Perhaps THE best review videos I've ever seen on youtube. I have a clean 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and it's just fabulous. What a waste companies don't make these cars anymore.
trigga ville I'm looking at buying a used one soon. I have a new 2016 hybrid sonata limited because I drive 80 miles round trip to work 5 times a week, but I've always wanted one of these since my grandpa had one when I was younger. I love floaty comfortable slow old people cars and I think I'm going to buy one. Do you think it would be good to drive this to work and back going that far everyday? Reliable?
yes, i purchased my 1996 town car from a older gentleman with 205,000 miles on it, i was afraid it was worn out with that many miles on it but i drove it everyday for three years 100,000 miles and today i'm at 306,000 miles still drives runs great haven't had any major issues yet, feel free to check out the vid of it starting up/running
I havew a 2003 Lincoln Signature. She has 107,000 miles and I wouldn't trade her for anything! I love my car! Paid for and still runs so incredibly awesome. I may be old, but she is my dream car and paid off!
What a really great video. I enjoyed this a lot AutoMoments. Thank you. I own a 2006 Town Car I bought new. Going on a little over 10 years old now, it rides like a dream, and only thing so far I have done is a new set of tires in 2012 and on my 3rd battery. Problem free. Only 42,775 miles too as of today. Best car I have ever owned. Top notch video. Thank you again.
Thanks for this Joe! My last Lincoln was an '07 Town Car. I loved it, as I did almost all of my other Lincolns. By the way, you are right about the lumbar on this generation.
Bentley and Rolls-Royce didn't downsize. Lincoln should've been the American Bentley, offered at BMW prices. I think Lincoln is starting to get the idea with the latest Continental. Now they need to revive the Town Car and make it an "affordable" Bentley Mulsanne.
@@Lincolnator721 The town car was lacking in horsepower, they just had to add a 4-valve V8 engine with 305 horsepower and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It would really be a great replacement for Bentleys and Rolls-Royces.
Your backs hurts in a Towncar? Sounds like you have a bad back. I recently bought a 2003 with only 92k miles on it. This thing is like sitting in my living room on my couch. I mostly drive my Benz and my Sportwagon TDI. But when I want a night out on the town with my girl and some friends or a long drive vacation my German friends stay home and I take the couch. Super smooth, quiet and comfortable and getting around 23 m.p.g. at highway speeds all the while stretching out on my couch in my living room at 75 m.p.h. Read up on the dependability of these cars. They are VERY reliable and run over 250K miles with ease. Love this car.
I had the opportunity to drive an 06 Town car for a mechanic friend of mine to return it to its owner about 15 miles away. I was never in one before. I was so impressed w/that Lincoln I got out of the car and proclaimed that this car is so fine it will make you a better man.
I own a 2000 TC given to me by my dad. I deliver pizza and groceries for a living and I use the Town Car when my back is hurting or its gonna be a rough day, compliments the 13 Abarth 500 work car and my 06 Dodge Ram 1500 in my driveway. The comfort for professional drivers is unmatched! I see why they're loved after spending time with mine. 200k miles runs like a clock!! I turned the car down multiple times and I finally took it, took car of deferred maintenance myself and now I'm in love! I got the second auto seat button set to fully recline and go back. So nice for breaks!! my favorite feature and that comfy recliner like chair, plus the Factory Alpines still kicking it 21 years later!
I feel like the new Continental is the spiritual successor to the Town Car even though it isn't body on frame. I say that because it is focused on comfort and is the best they have to offer, while other brands have forgotten about what makes a great luxury car,
Mine is upto 290k now, in the dead cold of Alberta ! Shes got rust but interior is immaculate still, the air suspension just gave out but abt to go in the shop for the coil conversion. now looking for another low mileage towncar and plan on passing mine to my wife as her first car.
excellent video. i am one those people who don't like the hard suspension as noted. when i bought my lincoln mks i truly thought something was wrong with the suspension. i will forever love my town cars and am thankful so many were produced.
I have four Fords including a 2006 Ford Taurus, a 2004 Mercury Marauder, a 2002 Ford Ranger, and a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. My Town Car is the one vehicle that demands a relaxed driving demeanor, no hurry, no rush, just serenity.
I drive a 07’ town car. Just bought. Learned to drive on a 01’ sig limited. Amazing engine, I love the underpowered v8. Starting it up sounds so good. Steering is pretty good also (better than my ranger). Drive is so quiet on any street. I could easily go 80 in a 35 without noticing. Literally no road noise. Also for the V8: it punches when you shift down into another of those huge 4 gears.
1 year ago since I bought this for the parents, we watched your video together. Great job, love it. It's becoming nostalgic, we will make it our yearly town car anniversary video lol
I love watching your videos especially this one as I own a 2006 Lincoln town car designer series and your narration is spot on and easy to understand👍 The only thing I don't like about my town car is that they don't still make them..
RICHARD- The Designer is the one to own! Only TC to have adjustable rear seat head rests also has better leather and better wood too. I hope yours has the Fog lights. Those look nice. After the Designer, they started to de-content the cars basically for livery service. You got the right one dude!!
The front seats are buckets and are very snug. It handles very well and rides nice. The rear deck isn't very long at all, it looks long because other cars have virtually no deck. If you have the trunk organizer you have a big trunk and an underneath storage area. It is very trim and if you know how to drive it is easy to drive in a city. My goodness, I learned how to drive on a bigger car.
Lincoln Town Car IS what luxury should be. I am the original owner of a 2001 Cartier, the then top of the Lincoln line. And to this day after all these years of daily driving, I still get compliments. I have recently turned 208 thousand miles and it's not stopping ay time soon. There are more fuel efficient vehicles on the road today. Although I still get 22 to 26 depending on where I drive. But for me its not about fuel cost. The sheer size & weight produces an unsurpassed comfort as it floats down the road. I have rented many cars at airports and can confidently say, there is nothing on the road that feels like a Lincoln. This video nailed it. There are still drivers that don't want to feel the road. I choose to be driven in quite comfort. Lincoln. My car is far from new. But at the end of the day when it goes in the garage and I close the door... its still a Lincoln!
O-60 in?? Who the hell gives a damn! Just let the world go by!! I will be checking out a 2006 Lincoln Town Car next week after a monster search. Hope the deal goes through.
The Town Car, Crown Vics and Gran Marquis are the last good cars built! Some one should start building these again! RWD, V8 and body on frame is the way to go!
Perfectly well done!! I love my Town Car so much. Being an enormous Mark VIII enthusiast, I was really surprised how quickly this luxo barge with her couch-like seating, ginormous trunk and surprising acceleration got under my skin. Complete antithesis of the Mark VIII and that is just fine. =)
I feel like the town car is the perfect luxury car. Maybe it should have more power behind the wheel but the most important part about a luxury car should be the luxury. I think the Town Car had that.
It certainly would have been nice to have seen an updated version, with a more modern powertrain and some interior updates. Ford could have kept selling it for another 10 years! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2005 TC, and I think it's sexy looking. And I and my dogs look sexy riding in it. We don't care who thinks we're outdated. If anyone wants to get my Town Car from me, they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands (along with my firearm)! If it's uncool to drive a Lincoln Town Car, I'm fine with that. It's been years -- decades, actually -- since I cared about what's hip.
Haha. When you're riding in your comfortable Lincoln Town Car, who cares what the rest of the world thinks? They'll never know the secret of what makes it so great. Haha. Thanks for watching!
I miss this era. I really do. I would like to own a 06 Grand Marquis. It’s something about a big American sedan with a V8 and rear wheel drive. Bring it back
Having owned and experienced numerous German cars, I can say that my 2001 TC isn't a luxury car in the European vein -- Rolls Royce, Mercedes, BMW, Bentley, etc. It's a large, capable, practical, comfortable, and nearly bulletproof car that is cheap to buy and cheap to run. Those are its virtues. On the technical front, it's a Ford F-150 in a tuxedo. They share engine, transmission, rear axle, and body-on-frame construction. With a 3.55 gear and a serious transmission cooler, a Panther can tow just as much as an F-150 with the same gear (about 7000lbs). It's a workhorse, not an Autobahn missile.
Really enjoyable to watch and to listen to again. Another good job for those of us who remember that these were actually pretty good cars back then. Great to get a close-up look at one of these again though... Travelling in comfort ? Well that's Never going to go out of style, is it ?
Overall this was a great review of the Town Car. This truly was the last of an era and the last of the good Lincoln's. Personally the 90-97 Town Car was always my favorite generation next to the 80-89 Town Car. But still excellent cars no less. You should do a review of the Cadillac Deville or DTS next. That;s what I have myself and are also some great cars.
I loved my 2003 Town Car...200K miles when it was retired due to a rear end going out...I dare say that car was one of my favorite cars that I have owned and I have owned over 54 cars as well as 9 motorhomes..(RV's)...I can't say enough positive about that Town Car..I did miss the front window vent windows that my older Town Cars had..the little triangle section that would go down before the main side window would for a small vent..
Funny, people who are spending 60k+ on a decked luxury coupe don't realize that SUVs and Pick Ups are becoming the new luxury. They now combine the power they desire, the space we miss, and the elegance that's been unaffordable.
Watching you emerge from the trunk is priceless! Personally, I prefer the first year styling of these cars, but that generally holds true for me. Greater risk taking and usually purest in form.
IMHO a luxury car is a car that is built to provide comfort for the driver. In that regards, only Lexus, Lincoln, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and maybe Volvo and Mercedes are real luxury cars, as the other brands go too much into the sporty territory.
Yes it's sad. The current Cadillac executives are young and into all the modern crap making them just like every other new car and not staying true to there own. Cadillac and Lincoln both need to go back to there roots and remain different than every one else.
Agreed. The 2003 doesn't ride like a Lincoln at all. A friend has one and you feel every bump. Find me a Lincoln from the 60s-90s that transmitted potholes or expansion joints to the passengers.
I just got a '98 executive series town car in such good condition it's almost new. (About 75k miles after being lightly driven for all these years.) The design of the car feels markedly different than those released in the last decade. It's overly sized by today's standards but the amount of space and those sofa like seats make the experience truly comfortable. For some reason I find the creamy white leather seats and faux-hardwood inserts genuinely classy in a way that not many cars are anymore. Call me an old soul but it's been a blast so far. And from what I understand these are extremely reliable cars with long lifespans. Thanks for the video and the close-up of this models features. Mine is a different year but many of the same things are true for both cars.
The 1998-2011 Lincoln Towncar could go 400,000 miles with good maintenance ... the MKX and these front wheel drive Lincolns were created so Ford could make money from service and parts. I will never buy one of the high tech luxury cars ...
We let go of our 1991 Chrysler 5th Ave about a year ago...Wish we still had it for our friends to drive us around on holidays when we would be the lucky rear seat passengers. Those tufted (and rarely used) rear seats were the best! That little 3.3 V-6 moved it around just fine and could return 28 MPG on the highway!
Its a real shame. If you were playing that game where you say a word and the other person is suppose to say the first thing that comes to mind, what do you get when you say 'luxury'? My mind says 'comfort'. Maybe someone else would say 'power'. After that you might get into some other multiple word statements like 'great fit and finish'. So, what kind of list can I make with those words? - Luxury car must be exceptionally quiet and smooth. Town Car excelled at that at least through '97. The wider tires and suspension upgrades required to out corner and out stop Cadillac Sedan Deville likely came at a sonic penalty. In addition, the latest technologies should be applied to maximizing the smoothness of ride and minimizing sound intrusion. Lincoln did this well through 1990, being early to the gas shock party and the steel belted radial party (at least in America). They were also early to the electronic fuel injection party, offering it standard in 1980. - Luxury car must be powerful. 0-60 should be in the top 10-15% of cars. At the same time it still needs to be quiet. I don't want a luxury car that SOUNDS powerful, I want a luxury car that IS powerful. There is a difference. Up until the introduction of the PI engine the Town Car was respectably powerful. No it wasn't as fast as the Caddy, but who cares. At least the torque went to the correct end of the car. - Luxury car must have the ultimate fit and finish. If I see steel in the gaps between the door panels and B pillar covers and it was't meant to be there, as were the window frames on 1980-1989 Town Cars, it isn't luxury. A feature most people don't even think about that I miss dearly from my '93 Town Car is the sill plate. Most cars today still don't have anything near as substantial as that was. It aged pretty well too, looking almost brand new when I cleaned it. What other items would a Town Car driver use without thinking that other drivers don't know they're missing? How about dual sun visors for both front seats? If the sun is at an angle or you aren't driving in a straight line you can effectively block out 30% of the area where the sun might shine into your eyes. Thats a big deal that I sorely miss. Honestly I was surprised to not find that in my wife's 40K SUV. In closing, I just want a darn Lincoln Town Car with truly modern powertrain and suspension. Install the BOSE active suspension, or the active sway bars BMW and Lexus have used. Include DSC and all of those other driver aides, and make available EVERY comfort feature that can be found on a car for less than 100K standard. That's right, standard. No options, no tiered pricing, just either you can afford it or you can't.
My multi word statement is to watch the Motorweek video of the 82 Continental, starting when they leave the studio parking lot. If you get lucky, the Hyundai Genesis, Kia K900 or 1 item from Mercedes may meet that standard. I would add only a sirius xm satellite radio.
It is now 13 years since the town car went out of production and i still have my 03 town car i have also owned an 05 and a 96 town car as well as an 03 Grand Marquis. They are excellent cars and definitely not like anything built today and i plan to drive mine until i cant anymore
A luxury car should be: Big on the inside! These days even "luxury" cars that have plenty of gimmicks are cramped on the inside, with high, wide center consoles (despite having no manual clutch) that preclude sliding across the seat to enter and exit through the curbside door.
Update: Some female dog decided to turn left directly into me as I was crossing an intersection with the green light, with a combined speed of 50+ mph, basically a head on. My '01 LTC saved my life! In the process it was totaled. Adding to the bummer factor is the fact that after reviewing how little I'd spent on it since right after I bought it in September 2015, I took it to my favorite shop for an alignment, brake bleeding, and fixing the parking brake. It was running smooth and sweet. I even was figuring on another transcontinental trip in it this Winter. RIP '96 LTC Signature in harvest gold. The replacement is a '96 LTC Executive with only 102 kmiles. It's got some cosmetic issues, but throws no codes and drives just fine. I'll tinker with it as time, weather, and money permit to fix the squawks, and enjoy driving it daily as I do so.
I have a 97 Lincoln Town Car with 177,000 miles on it. Did $1,000 worth of repairs on it. Runs even better now. My doesn't like 87 octane. I put 92 octane in it. A Lot of west coast 87 octane is crap anyways. I'm going to upgrade to the last generation Lincoln Town Cars when my 97 finally poops out which will be a while. LOL
I have a 2003 Town Car and a 2000 Grand Marquis, I love them both. Neither car has any trouble with Interstate speed and both are like riding a cloud. I will keep them until I die.
Veikra The best method is to dip the corpses in liquid nitrogen and then crumble into itty bitty pieces and dispose them in your preferred spots. Its not messy at all. Might not be cost efficient, but hey, you can keep your town car trunk clean.
Born in '57 grew up first as a passenger in my father's Fords big cars from the '60s. At the '70s I used to drive the Fords LTD's until the end of the '80s. Later I bought my 1993 Lincoln Town Car and after a gap (due to the 2008 recession), I found a 2003 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series garaged for over 8 years. Pure and simple: I love comfort and silence driving and yes is pure luxury.
I have a 2009 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and my great aunt has a 2004 grand marquis, she put it best when she told me “I just want a comfortable car the lasts, I feel like I’m driving my lazy boy, I love it!”
I'm a chauffeur, and we have a Town Car with 296,000 miles. It's still in service, and the customers love it. My bosses Town Car has over 400,000 miles on it.
With proper maintenance, these things will just keep going and going and going... Thanks for watching!

Trust me its cheaper rebuilding those Lincolns vs buying a new.
Well if buyers wanted these HUGE cars they would be in demand. But all the younger cars want today are small to midsize which will dictate their buting habits in the future.
The full size car today or recent past grew up in the 1960s and 1970s. Yes they complained about the smaller cars of the 1980s.
I hate the design of current cars with their hunchback trunks and cramped interiors. The Town Car is what a luxury car should be.
"Hunchback trunks"! What a great way of describing it! We agree with you. Long and low luxury cars look the best.
Anurania I'm right there with you! I hate newer generic looking mid sized sedans. I love the big boats of old
Anurania Exactly. I love cars that looks solid and drives smooth.
Anurania Amen Brother and The Town Car with a 4.6L SOHC 2V V8 will outlast the new overpriced puny luxury cars.
You mean a crown victoria with plastic wood inside with seats that make you ache? Yeah, how luxurious.
My first car was a 2001 Lincoln Town Car with 495,000 Miles, ran like a best and lasted me a while until I decided to sell it, currently own a 2009 Town Car and still love these panther platforms
Wow, that's a ton of miles. Panthers are amazing! Thanks for watching!
That interior is lovely!
styldsteel1 lol is disgusting same as a 1996 crown vic
Don't Fu*k with it
glenn taylor i just bought an 03 two days ago. 80k on it. I paid 4200. I love it as well.
These will all do about 130 MPH, so plenty of speed available... and 25 - 30 MPG at Expressway speeds...

But the Engine does have some problems, well because of the Fast jaguar engine installed in it
Thanks for reading.
Panther body cars will always be my favorite. It's a shame they stopped making them.
+Alex Dean It truly is. In a way, the Panthers were the last "American" car--they were big, simple, and comfortable. We may never see anything like them again.
+AutoMoments The last of the rear drive, body on frame, bench seat v8 American sedans.
2007 Executive L with 400k miles in my fleet, still the no.1 requested car by airport clients..
Love it!
Town Cars really are great! Thanks for watching!
David Topchiev damn
I have a 94 town car signature. Trans went out about 4k miles ago. Love the car so much I rebuilt the trans myself and it's still going strong!
Alright alright I love my 01 signature series
I have the 2000. 😉
I just bought a 2000 Lincoln town car. It's the most comfortable car ever! Plenty of room ,and just the right amount of tech.
Absolutely! I bought one too, about two months ago. I'm only 19 and it's funny seeing people's reaction to it. It's a lot of car for not a whole lot of money.
Sounds like you hit the sweet spot! They're great cars.
MetalGear That's Dope. I'm 19 and Now have a 2000 Lincoln Town car Signature Series. 114k miles on it as well.
No thanks..
I bet you got rid of it ha ha ha ha
A full frame, RWD, V8 is the perfect platform for a "Luxury Car". They should have kept tweaking that, instead of dropping it. That was a huge mistake.
I snagged a 2006 Designer from Alabama with 52K miles, and I'm glad I did. I keep it garaged, out of Ohio weather, and put maybe 500 miles per year on it. I think I'll grab another to use as a daily driver before they're all beat up. I don't give a damn what anybody else thinks of them. I've got mine, to hell with everybody else!
Haha. They are great cars! Too bad they didn't keep making them... Thanks for watching!
Like my 2000's Crown Vic, but because of it's Ford unreliability and 'modern' rough ride, switching to 1969 Chevy Caprice...
Yes, please take care of it! These cars are so special. Thanks for watching!
When I graduate college and get a real job, I'm buying this car
+King Whombat Sounds like a good life goal! We're in complete agreement.
but you dont need a real job!!! no onoe wants these cars anymore because of the stigma that goes with them - big, bulky, bad on gas..... got both my 98 and 06 for under 2000CAD (separate sales). Hell you can afford one on a minimum wage, part time job. Insurance is also laughable; under 150 for both cars. I'd suggest getting one before I come along and snatch it up ;)
you should try buying it while it lasts they are probably gonna be more expensive when more of them start dissappearing
Joking right?
King Whombat
This for formal events and a 1998 Ford Taurus with split bench seat for daily driving!
Perhaps THE best review videos I've ever seen on youtube. I have a clean 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and it's just fabulous.
What a waste companies don't make these cars anymore.
The BEST? Wow. Thanks for the compliment! Be sure to subscribe and share our videos. Thanks for watching!
my 1996 town car is at 292,000 miles, still runs and drives great
They are amazing! Town Cars will go on forever. Thanks for watching!
TH-cam
trigga ville I'm looking at buying a used one soon. Reliable?
yes, i purchased my 1996 town car from a older gentleman with 205,000 miles on it, i was afraid it was worn out with that many miles on it but i drove it everyday for three years 100,000 miles and today i'm at 306,000 miles still drives runs great haven't had any major issues yet, feel free to check out the vid of it starting up/running
trigga ville ok I will thanks man.
Just bought a 2009 Grand Marquis, I love it!
Who wouldn't? Haha. Thanks for watching!
The panther platform is the best. Gotta love it.
My brother loves his zippy, got-to-fold-yourself-into-it sports cars.
I just bought an '04 Marquis and *love* the car for it's comfort and size.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
He's describing the sports car
I've had two Grand Marquis and a Colony Park station wagon. Best cars I ever owned, good for 290,000 miles with very few problems
Thank you so much for watching! We're glad you liked the video. Be sure to share it with your friends so we can get more views!
Thanks for this Joe! My last Lincoln was an '07 Town Car. I loved it, as I did almost all of my other Lincolns. By the way, you are right about the lumbar on this generation.
+dRockOhio Thanks! We're glad you liked the video! And I guess we weren't the only ones bother by the lumbar support--good to know!
Bentley and Rolls-Royce didn't downsize. Lincoln should've been the American Bentley, offered at BMW prices. I think Lincoln is starting to get the idea with the latest Continental. Now they need to revive the Town Car and make it an "affordable" Bentley Mulsanne.
Nick de windt yea I’d take a Lincoln or a Cadillac over a bentley
Bentley would be in history if it wasnt for VW
Don't people that can afford Bentley's basically give them away after 50k miles? Lol.
@@Lincolnator721
The town car was lacking in horsepower, they just had to add a 4-valve V8 engine with 305 horsepower and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It would really be a great replacement for Bentleys and Rolls-Royces.
I own Lincoln 04 more than 10 years and don't want to change it. in Russia very difficult get any repair parts, but I love more and more!
Wow! There must not be a lot of Lincolns in Russia. Thanks for watching!
I just bought a 2005 town car with 98k on the clock, it’s like new and it’s hands down the best car I’ve ever owned
I had the opportunity to drive an 06 Town car for a mechanic friend of mine to return it to its owner about 15 miles away. I was never in one before. I was so impressed w/that Lincoln I got out of the car and proclaimed that this car is so fine it will make you a better man.
C Moore it gives you a feeling that you are a well put together man when riding in a town car
This video did a justice to the town car, thank you so much sir for your time and effort to make this video
I have a 2011 ford crown Vic Police interceptor and I Love it. looks great, rides great and affordable. all around get car.
And a good deal, too!
Me to, it rides like new, I love driving it.
I say that because it is focused on comfort and is the best they have to offer, while other brands have forgotten about what makes a great luxury car,
You've got a good point! We're yet to drive one, but hopefully sometime soon... Thanks for watching!
They need to get rid of that massive center console. Or better yest, bring back the bench seat.
Parker Weatly I agree
way to small in the front row.
Parker Weatly especially for tall people like me. I love not having a center console to bang my knee against in my town car
I've always wondered how many bodies could fit in that trunk, so I'm glad you answered that for me. All joking aside, thanks for another great video!
scott braden Thanks Scott! Of course, that's just an estimate; you should never attempt that...
Depends if they whole or in pieces. In pieces I guarantee at least 15 easy. Maybe more.
They neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to make the good old classic trio back
Yes! A modern version of the Panther Platform would be great. Thanks for watching!
Mine is upto 290k now, in the dead cold of Alberta ! Shes got rust but interior is immaculate still, the air suspension just gave out but abt to go in the shop for the coil conversion. now looking for another low mileage towncar and plan on passing mine to my wife as her first car.
When I think about how a car should look like, I always think about the panther platform.
I have a 2002 Towncar with 68,000 miles that was left to me by my 101 year old grandmother. A total dream to drive around town. I miss you Granny!
excellent video. i am one those people who don't like the hard suspension as noted. when i bought my lincoln mks i truly thought something was wrong with the suspension. i will forever love my town cars and am thankful so many were produced.
We're glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching, and be sure to share it with your friends!
This and the Crown Vic - last to have a full frame + rear axle + V8 engine, all in one. Mileage mandates also helped kill this model.
+tim jones Yeah; we're sad to see it go. Thanks for watching!
Another one of Obama's blunders!
Glad to hear you love your town car!
Another great episode. These are consistently well-written, so keep it up! Would like to see a 94-96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.
+kevin9c1 Thank you so much! We're glad you like it. A friend of ours actually owns a Fleetwoood. We'll have to pay him a visit, soon...
1 year ago since I bought this for the parents, we watched your video together. Great job, love it. It's becoming nostalgic, we will make it our yearly town car anniversary video lol
Absolutely LOVE the 80's Town Car; 0:52
Hope to get my hands on one some day. My old man has the 70's fullsize Mark 3 Lincoln continental.
MannerMan The Continental Mark Series cars are awesome! We need to get our hands on some for a video... Thanks for watching!
I love watching your videos especially this one as I own a 2006 Lincoln town car designer series and your narration is spot on and easy to understand👍
The only thing I don't like about my town car is that they don't still make them..
RICHARD- The Designer is the one to own! Only TC to have adjustable rear seat head rests also has better leather and better wood too. I hope yours has the Fog lights. Those look nice. After the Designer, they started to de-content the cars basically for livery service. You got the right one dude!!
I own a 04 Lincoln town car signature series with only 97,000 miles on it wouldn’t trade it for none of this new vehicles
How's the air ride ?
I once drove the Towncar. I was blown away. The ride and comfort are second to none.
I miss my 2003 Town Car. Best car I’ve ever owned. Smooth ride, reasonable power and quite luxurious.
One of the best cars ever manufactured.
No doubt!
Bought a 2003 Lincoln Town Car as my first car. Bought for 3,000 which is a steal in today's market. I am only 17 and I love this car dearly.
Great video! I was wondering though if you're making another documentary soon. A one on Plymouth would be cool. Keep up the good work!
Get it!
It's well worth the money and wait 😊
I had the car for a few days as a rental and drove it from Orlando down to Miami SoBe and the Keys, loved it.
The Town Car, Crown Vics and Gran Marquis are the last good cars built! Some one should start building these again! RWD, V8 and body on frame is the way to go!
It's literally impossible with modern safety standards and emissions standards
Perfectly well done!! I love my Town Car so much. Being an enormous Mark VIII enthusiast, I was really surprised how quickly this luxo barge with her couch-like seating, ginormous trunk and surprising acceleration got under my skin. Complete antithesis of the Mark VIII and that is just fine. =)
Between a Town Car and a Mark VIII, you've got the perfect combo! A car for every occasion. Haha. Thanks for watching!
No problem! Love the videos you have so far!
Terrence Lowe I love my 01 signature series
Lincoln Town Cars are so reliable I think it's the only car that I would buy with a hundred thousand miles on it and not think twice about it
I have a 2005 TC, and I think it's sexy looking.
That's impressive! Thanks for watching!
I miss this era. I really do. I would like to own a 06 Grand Marquis. It’s something about a big American sedan with a V8 and rear wheel drive. Bring it back
The limousine version can be used to house the bodies of six senators behind the tinted glass. 1990s Town Cars are a favourite of mine.
1990s Town Cars are so good looking!
Yes 90-97 was a great generation and one of my favorite's.
+MungoidHen You're absolutely right! Thanks again for watching!
AutoMoments I was going to say, 'My Pleasure' but it does kinda seem like you enjoy making these uploads. Heh heh. I know I would !
I drive a Mercury Marquis 2010 , totally comfortable, low maintainence, worth the money ,bought it used.Love it.😊
Overall this was a great review of the Town Car.
The 2003 Lincoln Town Car is a V8 powered leather lazyboy recliner.
This is the best luxury sedan at an excellent price, but the lack of upgrades and Ford's lack of interest in it caused its death.
Loving this video so much. Causal music, background info, perfect length, similar to top gear style mixing with some other new car reviews
Funny, people who are spending 60k+ on a decked luxury coupe don't realize that SUVs and Pick Ups are becoming the new luxury. They now combine the power they desire, the space we miss, and the elegance that's been unaffordable.
There is rich people that also like to DRIVE their luxury car.
Not just beeing transported in a high tower that only look cool.
True...the same kind of people that may have once bought Town Cars are now buying crossovers. Thanks for watching!
Yes, have you noticed police are now turning to SUVs and pickups now that full size cars are no longer available?
Watching you emerge from the trunk is priceless! Personally, I prefer the first year styling of these cars, but that generally holds true for me. Greater risk taking and usually purest in form.
Hahaha, we're glad you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching!
IMHO a luxury car is a car that is built to provide comfort for the driver. In that regards, only Lexus, Lincoln, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and maybe Volvo and Mercedes are real luxury cars, as the other brands go too much into the sporty territory.
It's funny, Cadillac works so hard to make world-class sport sedans, and then their best-sellers are comfortable SUVs. Thanks for watching!
Yes it's sad. The current Cadillac executives are young and into all the modern crap making them just like every other new car and not staying true to there own. Cadillac and Lincoln both need to go back to there roots and remain different than every one else.
Cadillac still has a nice luxury car that people are buying today
Agreed. The 2003 doesn't ride like a Lincoln at all. A friend has one and you feel every bump. Find me a Lincoln from the 60s-90s that transmitted potholes or expansion joints to the passengers.
a older Northstar Cadillac will out run this and ride much better also. I drove a later 90s Town Car and was NOT impressed
Thanks for watching! We're glad you liked the video!
The 1998-2011 Lincoln Towncar could go 400,000 miles with good maintenance ... the MKX and these front wheel drive Lincolns were created so Ford could make money from service and parts.
I will never buy one of the high tech luxury cars ...
Some of the miles on these Town Cars from rental fleets are amazing. 300,000+ is nothing. Thanks for watching!
Best review ever of a Lincoln Town Car!
Thank you! Be sure to check out our other videos, too!
AutoMoments
Alright! I liked the green Cadilac convertible review you made.
lets not forget you can get these with 70,000miles for under $13K
Or you can get one with 250,000 for $3,000. Hahaha. Thanks for watching!
Bought an 08 with 68k on it for $6400 last summer, in perfect shape.
Just got mine for 2500 and it only had 105k
We let go of our 1991 Chrysler 5th Ave about a year ago...Wish we still had it for our friends to drive us around on holidays when we would be the lucky rear seat passengers. Those tufted (and rarely used) rear seats were the best! That little 3.3 V-6 moved it around just fine and could return 28 MPG on the highway!
+shopwithaaron Wow! Those old Chrysler seats were awesome. Thanks for watching!
Abram McCalment the said above are the basic qualities of a Phantom
If only it came with a slightly more modern infotainment system and sat radio with awd I would be set
My multi word statement is to watch the Motorweek video of the 82 Continental, starting when they leave the studio parking lot. If you get lucky, the Hyundai Genesis, Kia K900 or 1 item from Mercedes may meet that standard. I would add only a sirius xm satellite radio.
I think you know the lack of promotions since 1992 has killed this platform
A town car with dual exhaust can do 0-60 mph in 7 seconds
I love the fail safe cooling. It saved my engine and got me home when the bearing went out in my cooling fan.
Land yachts forever I say! Comfort, cruise control and some nice music... oooyea
Oh yeah! We like that.
Big band or jazz?
It is now 13 years since the town car went out of production and i still have my 03 town car i have also owned an 05 and a 96 town car as well as an 03 Grand Marquis. They are excellent cars and definitely not like anything built today and i plan to drive mine until i cant anymore
A luxury car should be: Big on the inside!
These days even "luxury" cars that have plenty of gimmicks are cramped on the inside, with high, wide center consoles (despite having no manual clutch) that preclude sliding across the seat to enter and exit through the curbside door.
You're so right! Modern cars can be huge on the outside and still snug on the inside. Where does all the room go? Thanks for watching!
I love my 1998 Lincoln Town Car Signature Model! The ride, the handling, and of course it’s styling.
I’m 18 and it’s my first car
Love My 1997 Lincoln Town Car
They're great! Thanks for watching!
That's one of my favorite generations of the Town Car. Great year!
0:56 Massive is kind of an understatement, if I'm not mistaken, the Continental still holds the record for the longest American built passenger car.
+Will Poundstone That's pretty amazing! What word would you suggest instead? Enormous? Gigantic?
+AutoMoments Gigantic, I guess
+Will Poundstone You would have to check out pre 1978 Lincolns and Imperial for the longest cars of those makes and pre 1977 GM cars.
Will Poundstone
Wiki says up to 221”. Our ‘59 Caddy was 225, and it wasn’t the longest of its day.
This is my current car, absolutely love it
you can fit more than 6 bodies, if you cut them
But that just gets messy. I'd rather just make two trips.
Veikra The best method is to dip the corpses in liquid nitrogen and then crumble into itty bitty pieces and dispose them in your preferred spots. Its not messy at all. Might not be cost efficient, but hey, you can keep your town car trunk clean.
cut the throat and hang the body up by the feet to drain. After that they should compress alot better. Damn it now I'm hungry for jerky.
This was an outstanding video from start to finish. You have gained a subscriber and a fan.
a town car is nice but I do love my 2008 Cadillac DTS.
Ahhh, the DTS is a nice car, indeed. Thanks for watching!
AutoMoments thanks for making such a great review, make more and I'll subscribe.
This is more realiable
@@AutoMoments town car 100 % more reliable !!
I’m buying a 2003 Lincoln Town car in 2020 cause I love these cars! Only has 112,000 miles for $3,750 cash
NOT THE DOGSHIT WE HAVE BEFORE US NOW(300 NOTWITHSTANDING) ! LONG LIVE THE OLD-SCHOOL!!!
Haha. All the more reason to cherish the Town Cars we have left! Thanks for watching!
I have a ‘99. Love it!!
muy bonitos los town car... yo tengo.. un..03..;)
y que tal anda, estoy importando uno 04..
I was really hoping Lincoln Continental be RWD and new V8 engine but instead still having FWD and Ecoboost engine.
+selerim it will be a streched Fusion. I will never sell my 2011 Town Car purchased new.
+Károly Halász Exactly, Cadillac gonna have their new CTS 8, RWD twin turbo V8.
I also have my 2004 Town Car and not going to sell it at all.
The Lincoln LS could have been a competitor to the CTS if they had put the Ford Modular V8 into it. WHY did they use a Jaguar engine???
David Topchiev
AWD with a front wheel bias, so it'll still drive like a FWD. Not impressed.
David Topchiev
I'm talking about manual transimissions though, not automatics. The manuals need a new clutch every 110k miles almost like clockwork.
Phenomenal video. The music, transitions, and commentary blend spectacularly to create something special.
Thank you thank you thank you! We're so glad you liked it. Be sure to share our videos and subscribe to our channel!
This a luxury car? My S500 from 1998 eats this for Breakfast lol
with it's ugly styling and it's unparalleled complications and unreliability
Niko Strohmann oh is your computer throwing a check engine light because your trunk light went out? Boohoo😭😭😭
1998.... Isn't that the period Mercedes started going to shit and their cars would rust before they even left the dealer forecourt?
S 500 looks, drives better and its better LUXURY car.But they rust away quite quickly.
Had an 05 that got to 544K on the original powertrain, I want another one...
Absolutely Gorgeous Automobile. !!!!!
I have a 2009 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and my great aunt has a 2004 grand marquis, she put it best when she told me “I just want a comfortable car the lasts, I feel like I’m driving my lazy boy, I love it!”
