    Lancer kept living because in his legend, Cu chulain was just built that different. He tied himself to a boulder with his guts to continue fighting.
    Avalon is the reason for Shirou's healing ability, as well as the reason he summoned Saber in the first place. You can actually see Avalon in episode 1 when she was summoned.

      @BekindBekbek หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Not to mention that Avalon, as part of Arthurian myth, was one of big points of Fate route. So UBW route assumes that you already aware of it, and anime just adds a couple of hints to that, nothing more.

    3:15 This particular Lancer has a skill known as Battle Continuation that allows him to fight a little bit more even after fatal wounds. Because in his own legend he also refused to die for surprisingly long time and even managed to kill one more enemy after death.

    10:44 yeah that’s the whole issue though. Shirou can’t just save others, he is completely obsessed with always saving everyone without ever losing or failing to save someone. Balance is what he lacks.

      Eh thats moreso Archer's problem. Shirou's is hinges more on him being unable to cherish his own life to the point of being willing to die at a moments notice if it means other people are saved

      @@TheGenreVerse welp the problem is that Shirou without his ideal is selfless, after the fire he became empty as person, without personality, desires. feeling only regret that he survived instead of other who asked for help from him, he completely forgot who he was before fire, forgot his parents, name, his personality and etc. He was born from that fire and the basis of his new personality became the envy to Kiritsugu who cried of happiness when he found the only survivour from this fire - Shirou. His envy to this feeling of happiness of saving even one person grew to admiration of Kiritsugu's ideal. THis ideal became the main basis of Shirou's personality, he can't not to put everyone more important that himself as it's his core, his personality itself that was born from his survivor guilt. If Shirou wants to live as normal person in society he has to clinge for this ideal. He's traumatized person from the core, he thinks that he has no right to choose who should live or not, he just try to help everybody even if it means it's going to hurt him
      It's an empty man who was filled by other's desires and ideals mixed with his survivour guilt

    Other curiosity Lancer(Cu Chullain) had a lot of problems with women in his legend.
    that's why before dying he told Rin "I wish I could had a partner like you, but I've never had any luck with women"
    Dude had it rough.

    7:10 One more thing about Tracing: it`s not only makes copy of form and material of object, but also reads object`s entire history of using, making possible to recreate it as well, to a degree. In case with Archer and Shirou this effect basically doubles down.

    12:10 Tanned skin and white hair are most likely side effects of overusing magic. And probably partially because he spent a lot of time under the sun.

      Not any magic tho, projecction ones because you create materials from your own body, destroying your pigmentation in the process. That's why he got tanned skin, white haire and grey eyes.

    God I love the visual poetry of this episode, Shirou and Archer clashing with Kanshou and Bakuya where they hit the opposite swords at the beginning but during the last few scenes you can see both Bakuya (white is sword) are the ones clashing, The broken down Bakuya being repaired as well rathern being summoned symbolizes Shirou being slowly broken down by Archer but still continues to rebuild himself, and the King Arthur parallel during his flashback. I love this episode visually, Aimer's singing is also plus made the scene a lot more powerful.

  • @BekindBekbek

    17:04 And another meme was born
    Also, I prefer version where instead of repeating Archer`s chant, Shirou makes his own "My body is made out of swords". As far as I know this is correct translation.

  • @Gaming_Groove
    @Gaming_Groove หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    "I am the bone of my sword" is more literally translated into "(my/this) body is made of swords", which you'll note he said in Japanese here for the first time (karada wa tsurugi de dekiteiru). Aside from the implications for his abilities, there's a lot of symbolic meaning you can derive from a phrase like that regarding how Shirou sees himself. A noble blade to defeat evil, a tool used in service of protecting others, and so on.

      I have overcome countless battlefields undefeated.
      Not even once retreating,
      Not even once being understood.
      Always alone, intoxicated by victory in a hill of swords.
      Thus, my life has no meaning.
      And my body was certainly made of swords."

    This fight wasnt fair at all. According to the Visual Novel Archer Emiya was almost out a mana when this fight started so he couldn't use any of his powerfull Noble Phantasm like Caladbolg, Excalibur, Gae Bolg, Aestus Estus ,Nine Lives Blade Works and etc.
    He couldn't even use Avalon to heal himself.
    Hero EMIYA's Unlimited Blade Works literally has all the Noble Phantasm of all Heroes just like the Gate of Babylon of Gilgamesh, including Divine Weapons like Vajra, Sul-sagana and etc, and if he had mana and use one of those, Shirou would be desintegrated instantly.
    and when he clash blade with an enemy he trace their fighting ability and steal it through his magic circuits.
    Archer Emiya is pretty OP if you ask me.

      Aren`t his capabilities very limited when it comes to divine weapons? Like he can`t make any of those with exception of Avalon and Excalibur.
      Not to mention that it was never about simple killing. It was just very aggressive arguing. Archer said it himself - he needed to destroy the very idea of Shirou Emiya.

    • @SoufodahXX
      @SoufodahXX หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BekindBekbek Actually I think he can, In Typemoon official database says that Unlimited Blade Works has the copies of divine weapons too so if is there he can use it.
      He can use Excalibur too and Excalibur is divine weapon as well, so I assume he can use others too.
      In the fate stay Night series he can't cuz he is nerfed. but at full powered by Alya, he can. if he couldn't it wouldn't be in his Reality Marble.

    • @BekindBekbek
      @BekindBekbek หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SoufodahXX why he can`t make Ea then? To quote "I can`t read that thing". Or Enkidu. Excalibur and Avalon can be exceptions to this because he carried one of them in his body for most of his life and they have same origin. But i can`t say this about others divine constructs. The only thing I can imagine is to abuse "can copy what was made on Earth", but it also not really relatable thing. Also, the only time when we actually can see Archer making copy of Excalibur is Extra, and it has different system and set of rules. So it`s a very tricky question.
      Also, basically everyone in Fate is OP if you look deep enough)

    • @SoufodahXX
      @SoufodahXX หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BekindBekbek It was stated that Ea and Enkidu are a divine weapons made from materials and means that existed before the world was conceptualized, it's also says that it was created by a God before humanity, so they are beyond human compreheension and EMIYA can't scan Ea, because he cannot copy what he can't compreheend.
      It's literally in the Fate's official Lore, dude.
      He has divine constructs in his UBW and he can use it if he has mana to do it.
      that is not debatable.

    2:03 And so the battle begins.
    2:19 Archer’s basically saying, I might be nearly dead but I’m still far above you.
    2:38 ah Shinji, you seriously think you have any say in the matter
    3:14 This is Lancers skill, Battle Continuation. Basically, he can continue beyond the point that he’d otherwise be a corpse. It’s a skill that comes from just how hard to kill he was in life.
    3:52 ah Shinji, very brave when everyone inclined towards hurting you is either dead or incapacitated.
    4:33 truth
    4:43 I’m remembering that his uncle did the same thing to Rin’s mother…
    5:02 one thing to respect about Lancer. He’ll keep his word even on the verge of death.
    5:24 yeah, Gilgamesh is busy.
    5:35 godamn cowardly rat.
    5:49 truth. Except for Sakura. And she’s adopted.
    6:37 back to Shirou and Archer
    7:30 basically a resonant sort of effect. They used something similar in one of FGO’s events.
    7:46 unfortunately more than technique’s and Skills are flowing into him.
    8:36 this part is completely anime only. In the Visual Novel, Archer was to low on Mana to use Unlimited Blade Works a Second time. But the people who made the anime decided it was cooler. And I agree.
    10:07 and with those flames he makes certain Kirei is dead.
    10:44 yes he is. He is Shirou’s ideal self. Which is why shirou instinctively hated him the moment he saw him.
    13:35 Archers brutal deconstruction of Shirou.
    14:52 where it ended and began.
    15:22 and the moment where Shirou found his path and answer.
    16:30 indeed. He is one who both lived and became one with a sword.
    17:16 Indeed. For both Shirou and Archer, that’s the only battle worth fighting.
    18:30 no one’s arguing about any of that.
    Anyway congrats. Good job.

    To be fair, what Archer experienced is true to life somewhat if you met a truly selfless person, one who always put others before himself. No one would be able to understand him. Its hard to understand someone like that because no one strives for that kind of life

      Soldiers put an entire nation above themselves and their families for anywhere been 2 and 30yrs. Having done 17 years myself, and being raised by a career Soldier father who now serves his community as a teacher, I know a thing or two about selfless service.
      I love to serve others. My God, my country, my family... My audience.
      I'm so low on my own totem pole, Christine has to remind me to do stuff for myself. 😆
      But I'm a realist too. I know my limits, both personal and to what I can actually effect change in. I also know, if I'm to be here and serve others, I have to actually be secure and healthy enough to do so.
      I don't have mystical powers to allow me to do what Archer does, going through time and all over the world, but even if I did, I'm still aware of human nature, and the importance of free will.
      Free will results in some causing pain for others, but that's the exchange... It's an unfortunately valid exchange. It's why the only way for world peace to exist is due humans to not exist.
      But that's the same for the majority of animals. They all fight over territory, food, resources, mates... Existence comes with struggle.
      Ideals are fine to have as long as you understand they're unattainable. That the perfect world cannot exist. You do your part to get closer to the ideal, but didn't become a slave to it.
