Thank you so much for this comparison! It was super helpful to me in making my decision! I appreciate the time and effort you took to research the products and then to video and share the results with us! All the best to you.

If you were using the denoising with the deblurring in ON1 nonoise the latest update has a fix for some of the splotches that were showing up in some places. I think it can still happen in some instances but none of my photos are doing that anymore at least

Thanks for the comparison, but I think you should try it with "Nonoise AI" Button only. The first button "Nonoise AI" usually gives much better results than the "Both" button. Also, the "Tack Sharp" button is only the second choice as it often produces more artifacts than the "Nonoise AI" button. "Both" is usually the worst choice. The sharpening in Nonoise AI is often absolutely sufficient. Best regards

Is it compatible with Macinstosh Catalina (OS10.15.7); Photoshop 21.2.4, and Panasonic .RW2 files?

@@AustinJamesJackson Downloaded the 30-day free trial: Yes, Yes, and Yes -- and it works with JPG as well as RAW files

Please compare Topaz Labs Photo AI with DXO Pure Raw. Thanks in advance.

I wonder how much the camera sensor effects the results. I use a Canon R6, full frame with only 20MP, which is less noisy than most. A lot of my photography is birds, so here in the UK I am often shooting at high iso. I use ON1 Photo Raw, and although I generally have to reduce the sharpening am very happy with the results, I used to own Topaz denoise as well, but didn't feel the need for both ( Topaz Sharpen on the other hand is head and shoulders above ON1 for me, so I still occasionally use that as a plugin for birds in flight).
I don't photograph people much, but had some images shot a couple of weeks ago at iso 6400 so I did some experimentation to see whether I could get the plastic look, and no matter what I did couldn't reproduce it. Having said that, I am still using the older version of NoNoise as they haven't upgraded it yet for those of us using the full package.

That is true! Each camera sensor may make a difference.

I appreciate that ON1 includes NoNoise / TackSharp within the larger Photo Raw suite without a separate charge. They continue to update the individual product and they incorporate those improvements into their suite. I also own Topaz Sharpen AI for its better handling of motion blur and focus improvement, and it includes substantial noise reduction, too. They began the combined suite product approach a few years ago, but they discontinued updating their separate products. ON1 noise reduction handles raw files better than for JPG. Within ON1 I haven't ever liked the Micro Sharpening and I pull its slider to zero. Luminance I usually keep around 75%.

Yeah, it’s nice having it as an add-on to the full suite without paying more.

Thank you for the good comparison between the different packages.
I am a current ON1 user and are waiting for this to be incorporated into the 2024 version package.
To me ON1 is a good package for those on a budget who can only afford one package, not the best but ok overall. If you are a professional or someone who sells photos it maybe a different matter.
The biggest issue I currently have with ON1 is the new interface, really do not like it. Just have to suffer using it. Other than that hope they update the current version with this new noise reduction very soon.
Just found you channel, looks like you have some interesting content.

Why did you use tiff files, even 8 bit tiff?

    • @AustinJamesJackson
      @AustinJamesJackson  หลายเดือนก่อน

      They process better sometimes.

@@AustinJamesJackson But tiffs already have some kind of processing done to them. Using noise reduction on an 8 bit tiff is not usually going to look good. You should be using RAW files. I've seen other reviews and the results are much cleaner than what you're showing.

100% agree with you on the ON1results.
I shoot Olympus so I rely on good noise reduction software.
I discovered ON1 does not work well with the human face and brings in artefacts, the face looks like a plastic surgeon has done a bad job! It’s ok with daytime photos but forget dark scenes with very high ISO.
I think ON1 needs another slider to get rid of that splodge lol.
Great video as usual Austin, thanks.
