watching that darkoath flesh instantly create a readable skin tone is kind of trippy
it's a pretty cool color isn't it!
I swear by Citadel’s flesh contrast paint. Absolute godsend!
@@nickwhitney5015 I recently moved to APs Crusader Skin and I definitely prefer it to the GW ones.
Really enjoy your channel. It's like the perfect middle ground for higher level army painting. Keep it up!
Thanks! That's great to hear. I'm hoping to add some higher/competition quality stuff in the future too. But army painting will always be the main focus.
Love the entire format of your videos. Keep the old world painting guides coming 👍
Thank you! Old World is my favorite, will have lots more to come!
your voice and music makes the video soothing as hell and your techniques are very approachable, love the vids
Thank you! That means a lot to me. Chill vibes all the way. Glad you enjoy the videos.
You’ve inspired me to try contrast paints! I feel like I learned a lot watching your techniques. Your archers look great.
Great to hear! They're a useful tool. I wouldn't use them for everything, but they're certainly good to have around. Good luck and I hope you enjoy them!
I just wanted to mention that the music is really fitting with this one, loved the mood.
thanks for watching (and listening)!
I absolutely love the banner you did. The faded checkerboard in the background of the banner is fantastic! I would definitely go with unique heraldry for your knights. I think it looks so cool on the tabletop and prevents the army from feeling monotonous.
Thanks! I think I'll have to make a banner tutorial video. Lots of cool details and things to talk about. I agree about the knights, and it also keeps the painting process from feeling monotonous too!
Congrats on 10k. They look fantastic. Especially with that green.
Thanks so much!
First-time watcher. Great video.
Thanks for watching! Glad to have you here.
Really cool set of archers! personally i like painting all my "peasants" in the same color scheme and paint all knights in different color schemes! Makes them stand out all the more on the tabletop
Great idea! I think I'm leaning towards that route. I may paint up some additional peasants in a second color scheme just to add a little more variety. Leaning towards blue and white
Dear Matt thank you for this video. I had doubts if I should buy contrast paints but now I see this will be a good decision. Let's hope my minifigures will look one day as good as yours.
That's great to hear. Good luck with your painting and thanks for watching!
I'm doing Bretonnians at the moment. I'm making having all of the knights wear the same livery (the duke's livery), and using their shields to differentiate them.
Knights errant have the duke's livery on their shields.
Knights of the realm and questing Knights get to have their own livery on their shields.
Grail Knights get to have their own livery on their horses and the duke's livery on their shields.
That way I'm not having to paint dozens of different colours schemes
great idea! I like that theme.
stunning color scheme. Good work in general.
Thank you!
Gonna have to remember that technique for the fire. It looks great.
Thanks! I bet it would look cool for lava bases too.
Fantastic. Now I can get started on my primarily green/yellow Bretonnian army.
"some may say" - lol
can't wait to see how you paint your Bretonnian army HTM! It will look a lot like your Space Marine army if you paint it yellow and green.
Fantastic skills. 100%
Thank you very much!
Sad to see those bases being cut away and replaced!
Me too! I love the goblin green bases. They'll live on in our hearts.
that was tragic
My first painted model was also done with model enamels. It was pewter, so I just never painted the silver parts. Yikes! I like the color scheme on your Bretonnians, and the no green rule must have been a later addition to the lore, because in my old army book lots of the knights have green as part of their heraldry. I also like the idea of each knight having his own unique heraldry, but I can see the appeal in terms of efficiency to paint them in a uniform way. Thanks Mr. Matt.
Yeah the 5th ed book had some green heraldry. Lots of inspiration. I believe it was the 6th edition book where the no green heraldry thing came up. I like the older Bretonnians more anyway, lots more character to those models!
I think i like a mix of uniformity and unique works best. As you know my grail knights and questing knights had a unique paint scheme for each model while the characters/lords led there own retinue of uniformed knights of the realm, knights errant, yeoman and peasants.
Yeah I really like the look and design of your army. Might have to go that route for the troops. Lots to think about!
👍👍
I think a few of the bretonnians bordering woodelves have green on their hearldry
that's good to know! I'll have to look in to it. Might be a cool way of adding some depth and history to the army. Thanks!
I really want to know how do you paint the rest of your army
I really want to know too! I need to make some decisions
black rims, just like Giles intended
I really wanted to do them Goblin Green!
It’s not green it’s a shade of hemp 😊
Yeah if you purely go for 6th edition fluff... In 5th Edition things were a different.
Yeah 5th is my favorite. Very nostalgic!
Lore has made too much damage to creativity… we all should paint our armies the way we want, the way we see it,the way we dream.
Mine is every knight different and also green in the heraldry: pure 5th Ed style.
Very well said! 5th ed style is my favorite. Great stuff. Thanks for watching!
To let you know. The no green heraldry is new lore (bad lore) they added with the new game.
Correct I believe it started with the 6th edition book. Lots of new players might not be aware so I had to add a little disclaimer. All about the precautions! Thanks for watching!
@MattsHobbyHour No. Plenty of Green clad knights in 6th book.
@@dakotah7683 You may have the 5th and 6th books confused. The 5th edition book lore allowed for green. However, page 61 of the 6th edition army book says differently. Read the excerpt under the Green Knight. (The heraldry info starts on page 58). Happy painting!
@@dakotah7683 to clarify that info/page number is from White Dwarf UK 290 and not the army book. My mistake there!
