Is Symphony BETTER Than Utopia? Royal Caribbean Oasis Gen. 2 Compared to Oasis Gen. 3 Cruise Ship

- The Utopia of the Seas is the 3rd generation of the Oasis Class Cruise Ship from Royal Caribbean. I was lucky enough to cruise with the Utopia from Port Everglades in Florida in August of 2024. Let's take a look at some of the differences between the Utopia of the Seas and the Symphony of the Seas in this side by side comparison. Which one is better, or are they just different?

Thank you for this. Finding any information on the differences between ships or classes is almost impossible. Although you compared only 2, this is an excellent example of what we seek. I wish their website had a side-by-side comparison (like when buying a computer, etc.).. More of this, please! Thanks!
For Royal, Royal Caribbean Blog has good posts regarding differences on each ship within a class
@@nbajammer2 They all write a title as if its a comparison but they don't show anything. They say, this class one is bigger and more slides, etc. but no true comparisons like this.
I will qualify my comment by saying I am 65... The more I see the large ship reviews, the more I don't want to go on one of them ( unless of course you are paying, and then I will enthusiastically join in ) I remember thinking 20 years ago, the the idea of the Booze Cruise won't last... my 1st cruise was with the then Carnival Triumph, and even though it was a 7 night cruise, it was still very much a drinkers paradise. ..yet, here we are in 2024 and Royal built the largest cruise ship going, expressly for the 3-4 night booze cruise industry... there was recent news for RC about a new line of smaller ships.... it will be interesting to see those plans.
Freedom class is the best imo!
I just watched a review of Icon of the Seas that said it was clearly built for families.
Tiki Bars should have Tiki Mugs...
Thanks Morgan looking forward to our trip on the ship.
Thanks for the comparison Morgan! It must have been tough having to go on cruise ships to do all of this "research"...
I love both ships. I thought Utopia had a more fun vibe. I especially liked the Italian restaurant on Utopia. And yes, Symphony has a much nicer solarium.
I think Pesky Parrot probably uses regular cups because people will walk off with tiki cups and then they'll run out. But yes I love a tiki drink in a tiki cup! Johnny Rockets is less expensive than anywhere else but it's twice as much as it was a couple of years ago! And you have to pay extra for milkshakes on top of that if you don't have the drink package. I love JR but I'm not paying $15 to eat there when there is so much free food on the ship (including burgers & hot dogs).
I was going to say the same thing about the glassware! 🍹
@lisaanderson8235 I'm thinking that could be covered by charging it to your cabin. They keep up with beach towels?
@@stevemccord6927 I don't mean that they would steal them, just that they'd take the drink to another part of the ship. I don't always stay at the bar I order a drink from. They'd end up all over the ship. Maybe staying in the bar could be a stipulation but it would have to be made very clear and I don't think it would be worth that hassle.
@KK-FL Sure, but that would ensure that they got turned back in where they belong.
I'd buy one for my collection even if it wasn't necessarily amazing or unique. But that's me.
I stayed in a Boardwalk Balcony on the Symphony and our room was directly under the sports deck. Surprisingly, the only sound we heard was when the door to the sports court slammed closed
Just an awesome video Morgan! Been watching for over 7 years now keep up the great work!
I absolutely LOVE Johnny Rockets!! Especially their milkshakes, which are included in the Refreshment Package!! I was disappointed to find out there isn't a Johnny Rockets on the Ovation of the Seas when we cruised to Alaska this past July!
Johnny Rockets serves full breakfast and it's complimentary!!! A lot of people either don't know it or forget so you can usually get a table pretty fast. Eggs, bacon, french toast, pancakes, omelettes, breakfast sandwich, bagels, etc. Otherwise their burgers are okay but not worth the upcharge, at least not to me.
That was a brilliant video, very surprising to see this video only get around 5000 views 🤔
Thanks! I had fun making it. Feel free to share it anywhere you like! When is your next cruise?
Definitely for a future video, if you could point out the differences in the cabins that would also be great content. I have heard Utopia/Wonder > Symphony/Harmony > Oasis/Allure in terms of cabin design, electrical plugs, etc.
Awesome comparison of the two ships
❤
When we went on Symphony, my Mom and my daughters were in an ocean balcony deck 7 aft. I had heard of those shared balconies, but when we tried to explore, the cabin steward in that area said you couldn't go out there.
Live the big ships especially if there is a weather change event and half to stay out in the seas. So much to do for everyone
My daughter and I loved Johnny Rockets on the Freedom of the Sea where it has outside tables overlooking the sea, we love their onion rings, we also ate inside at counter and enjoyed that too. We will be sailing Symphony in February and plan to try it, but we are not excited about it's location on the boardwalk. I'll let you know which we thought was better.
Went on Symphony in November 2023 and still didn't get to see the whole ship but I will someday because I really enjoyed that ship. Saw my other favorites in your video Ben and David. Thanks for the comparison.
great comparison
I think i like some of those Utpoia changes more than i thought i would.. especially the solarium. When we sailed on Oasis vs Quantum ships we prefered the sealed weather proof environment of the Solarium on Quantum ships for those rainy/windy days. Then again.. most of those are adult only and we've got a kid now so i imagine it will be quite some time before i enjoy one again lol.
One more difference is Symphony has 2 flowriders, while Utopia only has one.
Rockets is great for an awesome milkshake.
I think the changes all sound great. Would love to cruise on either.
You get Corona with your Kayasadilla, oh dear 😷😱🤣🤣🤣
One of the differences that you didn't mention was the giant TV screen being added to the pool area on Utopia. I haven't sailed Utopia, but have sailed Symphony and Wonder of the Seas. I really liked that Wonder of the Seas had the giant screen added. That was something that I thought was lacking from. the previous Oasis class ships.
So nice really ❤
I've only been on Allure but hopefully will try Symphony out of Bayonne NJ soon.😊
😲 Your video really makes me want to book on both of these ships. Great information; Royal should post this in their feed! Oh, I would love the cool styled cups on The Pesky Parrot menu but can see how having to keep that much extra inventory and learn what drink in what style would be a pain in the tush. 🧉🍹🍸🍺🍶
Thanks for this. Sailing on the Symphony next month. I didnt know about the Deck 7 space.
I just got off that boat before labor day I hate it wish we were in a smaller ship.
@bright6200 Sorry to hear that you hated it. I like big and small boats. Maybe, try Celebrity next time.
Yeah Morgan, you bet those are cameras unfortunately
I don't remember the pool in the Solarium on Symphony. I know we went in it! I remember the lights! Symphony doesn't have those loungers in the pools like in the Utopia Solarium. The pool deck on Symphony was the hottest I ever felt! So the Windjammer is now split into two very separate areas? I remember it seeming too small and annoying it wasn't on the pool deck level. El Loco Fresh was hardly open when we were there. Long line for it at lunch. Interesting to see just how different they are! I don't think we'll be going on it, we weren't impressed with Symphony (we had liked Allure when it was new).
Am I the only one who likes bionic bar?

I was on Independence of the Seas for a 4-day cruise to raise my status (I needed 3 days and I was there anyway, hehe). There's no way you can see the entire ship in 4 days. I'm on Odyssey of the Seas in November for a transatlantic. We were looking at the Wonderland menu and we won' be going there. Ever. Big ships are not for me. The itinerary is what draws me.
Kaysadilla? What’s that ?? The L’s are E or Y sounds. Quesadeea
I know! It’s an inside joke 😂😉
Johnny rockets no I personally do not eat hamburgers and hot dogs on a cruise
