Maybe because you needed to buy the DVD to get these bonus features? Also were you an active Star Wars fan on TH-cam 5 or 6 years ago? Wasn’t that before Force Awakens too... were you interested in SW back when the last movie was a prequel? So many reasons for why TH-cam didn’t show this yet besides the obvious exclusive bonus features
I do see your point and I wasn’t aware that this was bonus feature. I’m actually happy that you told me and I will look further into this. But yes, I have always been an active Star Wars fan/watcher since I was 6, I am now 16. I didn’t start watching Star Wars on TH-cam until I was 10. Then again I probably wouldn’t have understood any of this at that time.

@@PhoenixofMyr episode 3 too I'm 17 the first one I watch was episode 1 and because the prelogy was the first I saw I never understood why it got so much hate, the 3 for me is perfect because of that anakin vs obiwan fight and because most of the fights were so good.
While the prequels weren't near as good as the originals, I still respect Lucas for the risks he took with them. Plus, he has never seemed rude or mean before, just tired, which makes sense for his work.
Such a heartwarming interview. I love to see Mr. Lucas talk about stuff other than Star Wars. He's just a simple man trying to make his way through this rough world we call reality.
I loved all of the Star Wars films, I grew up with the prequels and sure they did have a couple of downsides but on the whole I loved the entire saga, George is a brilliant filmmaker and the new film has brought back so much nostalgia for me.
How can anybody dislike that man? I have been so grateful to George Lucas my whole life. The man *is* Star Wars. People who bash him, or his ideas...I just can't fathom it. He's a good person and great storyteller.
It pains me to see such a kind and passionate man like Lucas get so much hate. He is simply a man that embraces the kid in him in his filmmaking. Hate his films or not, this man is/was just doing what he loves and striving for mastery, fueled by passion. Nothing but love for this man.
@@MrZackavellibecause his films are different than your typical mainstream films. He was an indie filmmaker, not a corporate one. That’s why I love and respect this man.
The whole two suns tatooine symbolism to me was; you cannot avoid destiny. Anakin was from tatooine and Luke was raised in tatooine. In episode 3, Owen Lars holds Luke as a baby and does the same pose we later on see in episode 4 where Luke raises his foot into the rock staring off into the sunset. Why? Because no matter how hard Luke tried to avoid the obvious he was always falling back into the road that lead him to be who he is, just like his father. Yoda (who's never wrong btw) said if you leave your training right now you will encounter pain and suffering. Also, when he went into the cave he saw darth vader and when he defeated him, the guy behind the mask was Luke. Lastly, in episode 1, Anakin's mom tells Anakin right before leaving with Qui Gon, "you cannot avoid your destiny just like you cannot stop the suns from setting."(somewhere between those lines.) So in my perspective; sunset means, you cannot avoid your fate.
When you were asked why you chose to make this movie, you said: "I'd always wanted to see a movie like this and no one's ever made it. And I figured if somebody did, and did it well, then everyone would try to copy it, and then I could sit back and relax and watch the copies." This part cracks me up XD
My brother went to Berkeley and majored in film studies. He met an awesome connection at Lucas Arts studios and he gave us a tour. We toured the whole facility and right as he was leading us out, Lucas himself walked by (with two suits on both sides of him). I actually bumped into him and said sorry, and he said “oh I’m sorry too!” Even though I actually never “met” him I’ll never forget that. Even the guy giving us the tour was surprised because apparently he hardly ever visited that area
It's cool to see Lucas loves his family so much. I kind a feel like Seth struggles a lot in his personal life, especially since he says he feels like he's always working. I think he asked Lucas how he separated work and leisure time because Seth internally is trying to understand how he can do the same.
Best question/answer was about the sunrise/sunset shots. Can't believe Seth pulled out the THX 1138 reference - and George's answer was surprisingly deep. Would have loved more of that in this interview.
I remember once reading an interview with George Lucas shortly after the first Star Wars movie was released where he said "I created Star Wars because the only hero's kids have today are Kojak and The Six Million Dollar Man." He nailed it.
I love George's eyes. He's old now but even now, you can see the softness in it. He looks so innocent that it would hurt to know he's secretly a mean guy.
9:23 “Life begins at 40, cuz you’re either dead or you’re so burned out that you can’t think about what you’ve been doing and you sort of wander into a whole other vocation.” I’m 36 and my life has already fallen apart once, hence the burnout, and I wandered into a different vocation (from education to 2D animation) and made me realize how important family is……it’s like he knows. Life is weird.
I’ve never hated George Lucas, ever since I watched those making of dvd extras as a kid and to me he seemed like this super smart dude that made amazing films that no else had ever made before, and he did because he loved it which was the most inspirational part. Mad respect.
The new movie was so trash people are watching more OLD Star Wars stuff like this to try and remember Star Wars. Therefore the algorithm starts suggesting it to anyone logged as Star Wars fans
It’s funny how George Lucas is hilarious in this interview as he is usually serious. he is a inspiration to film makers and television creators everywhere. I grew up on Star Wars and auditioned for a part in one of the movies
Two brilliant creative minds get together for an interview, and the pretentious snarks on TH-cam whine incessantly about it like a bunch of pissy little kids. Why am I not surprised?
"I come up with an idea and I just want to see it. And in the worst possible situations, I've had to make it myself. And in the best of all possible situations I've gotten Steven Spielberg to make it." LOL. Crazy he never got Steven Spielberg to direct a Star Wars movie.

I miss the good old days where it seemed like nobody had any real issues with Star Wars, sure the prequels were a mess but it created so many possibilities for the stories that could be told, and without its failure we never would’ve gotten unforgettable icons such as The clone wars. George genuinely just wanted the best for Star Wars, he wanted to have other people direct his ideas and visions but they told him to do it and as a result we had the prequels that despite lacking in acting direction were Captivating from a story perspective and managed to delve deeper into the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, give him credit George had innovative ideas and pushed technology to its limits. Nowadays most fans just don’t shut up about the Sequels, and always make it a point that The originals or prequels were so much better. Now with this interview George technically got his wish, The sequels copied the greatest parts of Star Wars and managed to tell an entertaining story, an unoriginal one, but a great story nonetheless. About the Descendants of Iconic characters, it’s just a shame that the Finale to the Sequels wasn’t a spectacle like Return Of the Jedi or a tragedy like Revenge of the Sith...The Rise of Skywalker much like The force awakens played it too safe, and the only movie too take the biggest risks of them all was the one that stirred up the most controversy, and divided Star Wars fans even more then the prequels arguably did. If I had to put it a certain way: *“No one hates Star Wars more then Star Wars fans.”* -Cosmonaut variety hour The future of Star Wars May just be in the hands of streaming services at this point, because taking a chance to make another set of Star Wars movies is just not worth the risk, not until Hatred towards the direction of Star Wars movies has died down.

I like ep 1 because of nostalgia.
I like ep 2 because of Geonosis and Jango.
I like ep 3 because of the action
I like ep 4 because it’s ep 4
I like ep 5 because of the story
I like ep 6 because of the ending
I like 7 because it introduced me to Star Wars
I like ep 8 because of the jokes
I think ep 9 is dogshit.

@@ova524 episode 7 introduced you to star wars. well I am certainly really sorry my friend.
@@ybk6858 It’s a pretty funny story. After we watched it we bought ep1-6 and started watching them so we could understand the story. And I really liked them. But the funny thing is that you dont need to watch ep1-6 to get what is going on in ep7 because the worldbuilding in ep7 is horrible.
George deserves more credit. I mean honestly, he is a different breed of film maker. I'm just glad that he was even able to tell the story he was able to.
George Lucas just tells it like it is and says the honest truth how he sees it, even about his own roles. Love this guy.

11 year old video and it’s in my recommendations now. Why not like 5 or 6 years ago? This whole interview was amazing.
Elijah Vierra same dude, what was the first one you saw and what’s your favorite movie in the saga ?
If you’re referring to the first Star Wars movie I ever watched, it was a New Hope. But my all time favorite Star Wars movie would have to be episode III, just because of the whole Anakin VS Obi-Wan fight. What your favorite movie?
@@PhoenixofMyr episode 3 too I'm 17 the first one I watch was episode 1 and because the prelogy was the first I saw I never understood why it got so much hate, the 3 for me is perfect because of that anakin vs obiwan fight and because most of the fights were so good.
"if i wanna see a movie, in the worst of all possible situations, I make it, in the best, I get Stephen Spielberg to make it" lmao
"I can fall asleep for weeks, months, or years and nobody notices."
It's true. Prior to Disney acquiring Lucasfilm, he just kind of popped in and out of the frame every few years.
George Lucas seems like such a sweet, honest, humble guy, I wanna be friends with George Lucas.
In fairness to George, the Battle of Hoth music only starts like that on the CD, not in the movie.
While the prequels weren't near as good as the originals, I still respect Lucas for the risks he took with them. Plus, he has never seemed rude or mean before, just tired, which makes sense for his work.
Too old to direct the Prequels as he did with the OT.
That's also the reason he sold it to the Slavers. 🤣
Prequels are better than originals.
i think Lucas is kind of stunned that he created fiction that spawned so much fandom and inspiration.
Anybody would be stunned if their creation spawned so much of that.
+Jamie Guest Amen!!!
A couple downsides? The prequels were an abomination with political bullshit in them fuck off
Not to mention the fucking terrible ass CGI and horrible fucking lifeless characters the only good actor was obiwan
Yeah Obi Wan was a great actor, what the hell was he trying to be a Jedi for?
Same. I was born around the time of the prequels, but I saw the originals first. I love all 7 films.
Thank you Seth and George for all you do for humanity.
How can anybody dislike that man? I have been so grateful to George Lucas my whole life. The man *is* Star Wars. People who bash him, or his ideas...I just can't fathom it. He's a good person and great storyteller.
The haters just have small dicks
George says he did it out of love.. A word Disney refuses to acknowledge.
I dont think they even know what that word is lol
Or obsessive fans, you may note.
reignofrock It’s not that they can’t acknowledge it , it’s that if you don’t know what Love is how can u , they r driven strictly by profit.
The only word Disney acknowledges is "money"
They thought it automatically came up with the brand.
It pains me to see such a kind and passionate man like Lucas get so much hate. He is simply a man that embraces the kid in him in his filmmaking. Hate his films or not, this man is/was just doing what he loves and striving for mastery, fueled by passion. Nothing but love for this man.
Why would anyone hate his films?
@@MrZackavellibecause his films are different than your typical mainstream films. He was an indie filmmaker, not a corporate one. He never goes by the polls, what would be the most popular approach, he goes by what he feels is good for the story he’s telling, even if it isn’t the best idea. If it works, it works. That’s why I love and respect this man.
Crazy that I'm just seeing this, George & Seth's creations have both been big parts of my life. Love this interview.
This is one of my favorite interviews ever...
Lastly, in episode 1, Anakin's mom tells Anakin right before leaving with Qui Gon, "you cannot avoid your destiny just like you cannot stop the suns from setting."(somewhere between those lines.)
So in my perspective; sunset means, you cannot avoid your fate.
+Vilma Salamanca had a likewise thought like this!
+Vilma Salamanca you right but I'm sure Luke was able to change his destiny.
I am going to actually post videos lol
+Vilma Salamanca Lucas just explained it means change.
So you entire interpretation is based on the prequels, which is fine but completely flawed taken production order and intention into account.
George probably appreciated those interview the most. Mostly because it wasn’t Star Wars focused and just a mix of both
that's funny, i watch family guy while i play star wars battlefront 2.
No! He's alive. Search your feelings you know it's true
What’s great about Lucas is that he has the ability to laugh at the weaknesses of his movies.
george looks so un happy im glade he retired so he can just relax with his family and friends

How tf could TH-cam hide this gem from the recommendation system for 11 years?! This was the best interview (without Eric Andre) I've ever seen!
Because star wars is trending now
When you were asked why you chose to make this movie, you said: "I'd always wanted to see a movie like this and no one's ever made it. And I figured if somebody did, and did it well, then everyone would try to copy it, and then I could sit back and relax and watch the copies."
This part cracks me up XD
If you close your eyes and listen to the interview, you imagine Brian Griffin interviewing George Lucas 😂😂
I love Lucas, his so cool, honest & humble
John Petan hes not humble lol
My brother went to Berkeley and majored in film studies. He met an awesome connection at Lucas Arts studios and he gave us a tour. We toured the whole facility and right as he was leading us out, Lucas himself walked by (with two suits on both sides of him). I actually bumped into him and said sorry, and he said “oh I’m sorry too!” Even though I actually never “met” him I’ll never forget that. Even the guy giving us the tour was surprised because apparently he hardly ever visited that area
Great man, great father. Prorities in order. Thanks for so many classic films.

the clone wars animated series was amazing
I don’t care what anybody says, George is cool. He always has been and always will be. I’d love to hang out with him and watch Jackass.
I have qualms with his film making, but even my cold heart can recognize his pure humanity.
It's cool to see Lucas loves his family so much. I kind a feel like Seth struggles a lot in his personal life, especially since he says he feels like he's always working. I think he asked Lucas how he separated work and leisure time because Seth internally is trying to understand how he can do the same.
Wish we had George Lucas running Star Wars and not Disney.
That fan fic trash disguised as canon?
George wanted out, he got so much hate for the prequel trilogy. I personally don’t like that trilogy but I respect george

The prequels are the only star wars movies I own
#metoo, I also love the Clone Wars series.
The most important filmmaker of the last 40 years for sure. Complete respect to this genius.

I remember once reading an interview with George Lucas shortly after the first Star Wars movie was released where he said "I created Star Wars because the only hero's kids have today are Kojak and The Six Million Dollar Man." He nailed it.
George always seems like a really humble guy. Very respectable
George will be missed deeply, once he goes😔
I wish family guy make more star wars sequels & prequels too

I love George's eyes. He's old now but even now, you can see the softness in it. He looks so innocent that it would hurt to know he's secretly a mean guy.

love george lucas, quality writer. love his short films before star wars. they prove he is talented. and seems like a down to earth guy
It’s funny how George Lucas is hilarious in this interview as he is usually serious. he is a inspiration to film makers and television creators everywhere. I grew up on Star Wars and auditioned for a part in one of the movies
Really? That's awesome! Which one was it?

If I had to put it a certain way:
*“No one hates Star Wars more then Star Wars fans.”* -Cosmonaut variety hour
The future of Star Wars May just be in the hands of streaming services at this point, because taking a chance to make another set of Star Wars movies is just not worth the risk, not until Hatred towards the direction of Star Wars movies has died down.
