0:15 this is when Hollywood showed that it had turned on George and was trying to stop him which is the reason he funded his own movies and it's why star wars was sold to Disney
He talked about doing a Rome series at this time to Carrie Fisher. He also had ideas for one in the 80's about Alexander the Great. Unfortunately neither one came to pass. If you want to see George's proper take on history watch Young Indiana Jones!
@@darnellmajor8895 He actually can be if you're talking about something that interests him. The problem is he's often asked the same questions time and time again.
You have to remember George had the prequels envisioned while he was doing episode 4,5 and 6 he just needed the technology required for it so as soon as CGI was popular through toy story which Lucas himself was involved in he could finally use that technology to make the prequels should he have waited yes, but George was really ambitious about the prequels and it's why he chose to go down the CGI path for the prequels that he didn't do for the originals especially the lightsaber fights and Yoda fighting
Just like Revenge of the Sith where you see the collapse of industry and a Republic. Oh wait, that's in those damn Prequels. He can create his films however he wants. He doesn't owe anyone anything.
I hope you enjoy the editing software you use for your videos. You have George to thank for that. Or any modern movie for that matter has benefits from his endeavours.
@dicaajr @@darnellmajor8895 He's probably referring to the first two films of the original trilogy, which were shot in England, Tunisia & Norway to save money. He primarily employed English actors besides the three main stars.
@@walterlacayo6503 It's not luck. It took hardwork and not giving up. No one believed in Star Wars but him. Especially on the first film. He made American Graffiti with a super low budget and created one of the first (and most everlasting) truly teen films. Not to mention creating Indiana Jones and a television series in the early 90's that pioneered what the medium has become. This is not even getting into all of his business and educational ventures. It took more than luck for George to get where he did. Let's see your own c.v. as I'm sure you've done just as much as he has.
@@zoetropeguardian Yes it was just luck. But it took one man with vision in power that discovered Lucas and "green lighted " the project . I've seen many talented people that are far more creative than Lucas (... and Lucas knows it ) that were never found nor discovered in Hollywood and to add more , Lucas him self has sabotage these people , because he knows that they will over shadow him and he will no longer be on top . Although he created Indiana Jones he stole the story from some one and that was the "Raiders of the Lost Arc" . But he renamed it and that's it . @@walterlacayo6503 I see you only like to spill nonsense when it doesn't meet your agenda. I, myself, don't connect with Steven Spielberg either but to deny his talent is absurd. So I'll assume you're just being critical for a reaction. Have a good one. "In my experience there is no such thing as luck."
I like George Lucas, but I don't believe it's right for one person to be worth billions. Don't you think that's evil? With all of the societal problems we have why is it ok for the top 1 percent of the usa population to have more wealth than the bottom 99 percent combined? Jesus taught against people having too much while the majority suffers. I like star wars but being filthy rich is disgusting to me. The working poor and disabled people have it the hardest. We should have laws that prevent people from owning way more than they need, and use the freed up wealth to benefit the people who need it.
Well, he earned it. Now maybe the parameters under which he earned it (entertaining us) are twisted by your standards. But regardless, he offered ideas to the marketplace that people responded to and was rewarded for that. These 1% and 99% issues you’re talking about have to do with the central banking system, which is quite literally slavery, wiping out the working class for decades by transferring wealth via inflation and debt. That’s not capitalism it’s socialism.
If you prevent people from owning more than they need, you unintentionally invite tyranny. I suggest you read about Lenin treatment of the middle-class farmers known as “Kulaks”, and of Stalin’s disastrous forced collectivization of agriculture.
I think it depends on the industry. I don’t think it’s fair in the pharmaceutical or medical insurance industry for example, where people get rich of somebody else’s misery. Entertainment is different you get rich off of people enjoying your work.
23:32 finally found an interview with George discussing about Peter Jackson & Lord of The Rings
God bless you for this comment
Hahaha George Lucas can be so funny: “He said, all three movies are going to cost as much as one… and somebody bought that story.”
Thanks for preserving this for us to enjoy
Fantastic interview
Lucas dressed like pimp Lando
Just raising kids without working, that's a luxury.
he did work.
George Lucas is life
The force is one with Lucas
18:11 what a sound to make

This interview might be from about alternate universe because George is wearing different clothes.
This is absolutely amazing.

I can't say I'm a fan of Charlie Rose; there's nothing worse than an interviewer interrupting their interviewee.
George has earned that. Good on him for living his dream!
You just gotta love how down ti earth he is 😅
Just doing what feels right, going where the universe, the force, points him.
he is a very tight editor
5:06 Extreme humility

I love Lucas! I like Charlie Rose too, too bad he got caught up in some crazy crap
Wonder what historical films he is talking about…because until now none of them came out
Probably what history star wars is based off but since he sold to Disney he never did them

Now that I think about it further he also probably meant Red Tails. Do watch it!
I’m really glad they let us know he came from a REPUBLICAN HOUSEHOLD.
Why is George exploiting me . a -I own a home with an extraordinary bi-racial history .
Charlie Rose is annoying, let George talk.
I like Rose's style because Lucas isn't much of a talker so we have Rose here to get some great responses out of Lucas.
@@darnellmajor8895 Good for you.

The worst is when a guy starts giving his answer and Rose will keep talking over them

The technology did not improve his movies at all. In Star Wars, the rebel's victory is when the technologic world collapses.
It is ironic.
The “hi tech” of his prequels is rather laughable. Even in Revenge of the Sith, all the obvious CGI is just nothing short of terrible
