    Truly loved my 450 spent a fortune on it and was one of the most fun cars I ever owned. I’m very jealous and must get another soon. Good walk round, brought back lots of happy memories thanks. 😁

    I've got a 2007 450 passion 700cc too, 20k original miles, a full service history from mercedes & it's in mint condition too, had it now for a couple of weeks & loving it, so much fun to drive & so much power for such a little car. I would highly recommend one of these to anyone.

      Yep, the power to weight ratio!
      Caught mine squealing, even with a passenger!
      We both smiled in astonishment!
      Love it.

    The 450 is a lovely Smart, I now have a 451 Passion 0.8 CDI from 2010 😊, but used to have a 2004 0.8 CDI 450 Passion.

    Very nice! Little tip if you’ve not already worked it out - If you lift of the throttle off ever so slightly when accelerating it’ll promote the gearbox to change up at a much lower rpm. You’ll end up doing this trick quite naturally and it’ll change up at closer to 2k rpm normally. Also, check your front springs - looking a little low at the nose. Very prone to fracturing the top inch or so. Should be seated in a cup on the strut and not sitting in the top mount on the body.

      Aye this is something I learned quite early on. (I've had the car since 2019)
      Springs are ok :) had two new ones last year. If anything I need a new rear shock absorber as it's 'bottoming out'

    • @stpfs9281
      @stpfs9281 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a little lift off, seems to trigger the gearchange.
      I've heard that the gearbox computer adapts to your driving style,
      from a previous owner, it was horrible,
      but was much better after a new battery, that seemed to reset it's preferences.
      The key must only be turned and released, not held in start position, (it already had your instructions to start).
      Front springs, yes not a friend of potholes.

      @@JonCoupland there is a lot of people out that smart car did a diesel model. Ps cheaper to run then my old Honda St 1300 plus 100 pounds Road tax for the motorbike

    Mine had a water leak too. Changing both door, seals and sealing the rear side windows fixed the problem.

    Hi - looks like your front springs are broken - I would suggest to check them. The scodic grey clothing is known to be a dirt magnet - the higher specs have had better and much more durable clothing. I have had a Pure from 99 and have now a remapped Smart 451 Turbo convertible - so much fun with such a litte car - I love it.

    Never been my flavour of car but if it gas served you well for over a year then there is no arguing at £700 even with a bit of spend afterwards

    If you think the amount of money that Merc ( and indeed any manufacturer ) spends on designing a gearbox why would anyone they can do better than a boffin in terms of speed or efficiency ?

  • @KPF-I
    @KPF-I ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not an automatic gearbox. It's a manual gearbox with an electric shifter, since there is no clutch. Just look up an automatic transmission and a manual transmission.

    • @JonCoupland
      @JonCoupland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Automatic to me 🤣

      No not the 450, they had real glass roof, the 451 has polycarbonate, I have had both.
