This song belongs in every museum across America... I'm a 46 old Black man and everytime I hear this masterpiece I get to tearing up💯 You're a genius Kenny💯
This is probably the best live version I've heard of This Is It. That strong syncopation from the instruments and Kenny's vocal improvisation, you can literally feel the groove
George Hawkins, the bassist, had a particularly good voice and he and Mike, the guitarist, did a great job of recreating McDonald's part from the record.

Kenny is my second favorite all-time male vocalist behind Stevie. His voice gives me chills!! And his catalog is massive! So many great songs. Even songs never released as singles. Just amazing!
This was the ultimate back-up band - tight rhythm section, amazing harmony vocals, and the incomparable Tris Imboden with that slick jazzy drum groove.
Kenny said he wrote this song for his sick uncle as he was lying in a hospital bed` encouraging him to get better, to try and help himself....to survive....he told him, "This is it....make no mistake, your back is to the wall...until its over and done.....the waiting is over.....dont you run, dont hide....this is it......"

+Island Digital, that is the Great Tris Imboden on drums ( heavyweight session/live drummer ) from LA. He was the drummer for Kenny Loggins for quite a few years. He also played with Chicago for some time. You name it and he's done it. I believe that the bass player's name here is George Hawkins. This is a nice band. B/G vocals also sound smooth and they blend well together. Sounds like the record. How many musical artists can you say that about today. Kenny has one of the best voices in American music.
This jawn speaks to my soul bruh. Whenever I'm feeling so low that I feel I can't do it anymore, this song reminds me that my destiny is just that. MINE. One shot and I'VE got to take it.
Anyone who think he is under rated you guys are crazy! Along with Michael Mcdonald, kenny is widely recognized for creating a genre of music. His fusion on jazz, smooth pop and melodic vocals are truly masterful!
Always great is Kenny. The band kills it. Background vocals are spot on WHILE playing instruments. No vocal enhancement or auto tune 1979. What you saw, what you heard, you got.
Wonderful performance by Kenny Loggins. He also performed the more harder-edged 'Keep The Fire' earlier on the same episode of 'Live On Fridays' where he played electric guitar. This was actually the very first episode of 'Live On Fridays', broadcast on April 11th, 1980.

What an outstanding live version of this great loggins tune. Exceptional collection of musicians in this band with Kenny.
