Thanks for the video and great work on restoring your TRC-975. We have to keep these old classics in top-top shape! Super job on using that L-bracket to fix the broken handle. That's a great idea and I'll have to keep that in mind in case the handle on my TRC-975 breaks. Thanks to your videos, I'll be playing my TRC-975 along with my TRC-931 side by side tonight. They look great right next to each other. I should get a TRC-935 to complete my Lasonic boombox trio. Shoot...old boomboxes are very addictive! Thanks again!
I have a few new dead stock TRC-935 in original packaging for sale if you are still interested. Just listed on eBay. Sold one in less than 20 hours and one is in active bidding.
Are you in Phoenix, that's the radio station I listen to. If you are do you know any place in Phoenix where they fix boomboxes I have a few them that don't play the cassette.
I need some minor things repaired on my trc 975, but I'm nervous about opening it. Both cassettes play, but they sound kind of muffled and one plays kind of slow
Sounds like one needs a belt replacement or maybe adjustment to the motor speed. Maybe the muffled could be azimuth adjustment, have you cleaned the heads with head cleaner or 90% higher alcohol?
@@Qosmokid I really don't remember if I tried the alcohol back when I first got it. I will give it a try. I had a guy that was going to get it in tip top shape for me, but his shop shut down after covid. I also think the inside needs a good cleaning. I can imagine how much dust is in there
My friend had almost every model. His dad owned an electronic store in Brooklyn. His dad described these radios as no name brand cheapo crap. Who knew they would be so popular today?
Oh yeah I remember seeing them at the swap meet. They were considered very bad compared to the established brands of the 80s. It's crazy that they cost as much as they do today
@bobbykelly7924 Anywhere you can buy old items like Ebay. That's where I bought both of mine. Actually I'm thinking I'm going to sell at least one of mine but I will prefer to sell it in person if possible to avoid paying the huge Ebay fees.
Great work! I've always been into these Boomboxes and have about 30 different kinds. I am currently working on a 931 and it has that hummm you mentioned. Any advice or suggestion on how to trouble shoot and fix? Thank you and keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Miguel, someone commented that is has something to do with the recording commutator that I talked about and pointed out in the video. All I did was spray electrical contact cleaner and moved it back and forth a bunch of times. Its not perfect but it helped.

I have a radio like this. I had it for 30 years and it still plays.
That's great. Have you ever had to recap it or do any service to it?
@@Qosmokid not really. Only the radio part works. Like the cassette player, it plays a little faster.
Wasn't thicker?

Yes they are, I'm still hoping to get a JVC or Sharp someday. Hopefully before they cost as much as a car

Hello, can you explain how to connect the external speakers and what kind of speakers can be used .
I hope you saved the cardboard for breakdancing.
Dammit I completely forgot about that. I did do a little breakdancing back in the 80s though
Nice I have the same one love these

No I am in the LA area, so I don't know of any repair shops. I dont even know of any here in LA but I've never looked
@@Qosmokid thanks buddy.

Lasonic. A name you can trust from a flea market seller you can trust.
Yup, but it's amazing these things are so collectible and expensive now
Would like to purchase one where and what is the price
Ebay or anywhere people sell things. As for price it varies depending on the condition.
Just saw this on Dangerous Minds Movie and looked it up. Happy to see the close up now.
Oh I never noticed it on there

@@Qosmokid What is funny is that today they are better made than most radios coming out of China.
They do bring back memories.
Hello, please I would like to know where you bought it, thank you
Hi there, I just bought it from a seller on ebay. It was a buy it now not an auction
Qosmokid how much did it cost ?
Where can I buy one
@bobbykelly7924 Anywhere you can buy old items like Ebay. That's where I bought both of mine.

You didn’t try the auto-reverse on the second cassette player 🙁
Yeah sorry, I didn't even think about that
These were sach great boomboxesr
Yes they were and still are. They are cheaper quality of course than the name brands but still awesome
I have one for sale if anyone is looking for one normal wear but everything works as it should
Where you located ?
Hello
I live in Iran.
What is the price of this product?
Hello Janice, depends on the condition. You can search on ebay. I have seen some from $500 all broken to over $3000 in almost perfect condition
What year was it mad
I think 1988 but don't remember if I saw an actual year on the labels
Hallo erg mooi wow.
Back in 90s I think it was thicker
