Thank you for the two videos comparing these two big Lasonic boomboxes. I already have a TRC-975 and a TRC-931 and lately I have been thinking about adding a TRC-935 to my collection. It's really nice to see it directly compared side by side (inside and outside) to something that I already have so I know what it will be like if I decide to actually buy a TRC-935. Thanks again!
@@OpenRoader Oh man...don't tempt me! Haha! These old boomboxes are addictive! I've got my eye open for a TRC-951 too. My wallet is lucky that I haven't found a nice one...yet!
I noticed that the Mic and Phones jack plug in on your TRC-975 are not red and blue like I see on many others. Why do you think that is? The reason I ask is because I just bought one and it looks just like yours.
I never noticed that with the 975. The 931 had all kinds of tiny detail differences throughout it's production run. Boombox Magazine did an in depth explanation of this in issue 6. You can find that at www.BoomboxMagazine.com For what ever reason, Lasonic made mid production tweaks during their manufacturing process.
I had another question. I noticed that you removed the foam sheets that cover the woofers on your TRC-935. Did that make an audible difference in the sound at all to your ears?
@@OpenRoader Ah, got it - thanks! Exposing those beautiful white woofers and shiny silver dust caps for everyone to see definitely makes any TRC-935 look much better!
They do, and if it is you, i see you have classic cars, I got a 70 caddy convertible coupe, not a hotrod but it's awesome, thanks for the help in either
I finally just bought a TRC-935 after looking for one in good condition for a while. I'm very happy with it and it looks great on display next to my other two Lasonic boomboxes that I mentioned before. One thing that I was wondering about is the LED digital clock on it which is fully functional. It completely drains a new 9V battery in about four days when the AC cord is not plugged into a wall outlet. Is that normal? It's not a huge deal to me though but I was just curious.
Mine kills a 9v just as fast. I have other radios that use AA's that last years. I've had the same battery in a Dynasty HT-959 that has been in there for five years and it's still working!
@@OpenRoader Ah OK - thanks! I have only burned through two 9V batteries in my TRC-935 so far since I have only had it for about a week or so. I was thinking, "I could have sworn that those were new batteries" after they were gobbled up by the LED clock. It sounds like that is totally normal though. Thanks for the sanity check! All of my other boomboxes that have digital clocks in them are LCD type clocks that are powered by a AA battery like the clock in your big Dynasty HT-959 "Wheely." Here's a list of the other models that I own with clocks: Sharp HK-9000 Sharp WF-939 Helix HX-800 (Rebadged Sharp GF-800.) Helix HX-910 (Rebadged Tristar 5890.) Just like you mentioned, the AA batteries that power the clocks in all four of those models will last an extremely long time. It seems that the TRC-935 just loves to chow down on fresh 9V batteries!
Hello- I've got a question that maybe you can help me out with- are you able to record the line in feed to a tape on either of these models? For instance, I'd like to use it for portable DJ gigs, I'd run my turntables into the Lasonic via the line in and would like to record my set to tape. Is that possible? thanks in advance
I have a 2nd gen TRC-931. And for some reason the radio sounds better than when I play tapes. Every now and then on tape mode the speakers will make "fuzzy noises" when i turn the volume up and down, but not on radio mode. Is there any way to fix that problem? Thank you in advance to anyone to replies (:
Just got a 935 like yours but the clock doesn't work. Confirmed 9V power from the battery to the circuit board of the clock but no display. No burn areas...nothing. Any ideas?

Your also gonna need a 951 to round out the big three Lasonics

The 951 is super rare for sure. I also run Boombox Magazine, I did a full issue on Lasonic. You can have a look at www.boomboxmagazine.com
I have a 935 missing 2 buttons and one cassette door needs repair
Thanks for review. I just started doing my research on which ghetto blaster to buy. This video was helpful.

No difference in sound, just appearance

I agree, I think Lasonic was going for the home stereo up scale look, but I prefer the ghetto blaster look myself
love to ask question on my 975, volume knob pressure causes right side to come in and out, tap or pressure makes it come back, what do i do?
It needs to be cleaned with Deoxit Fader Lube
@@OpenRoader where do i get that or i guess just do a search LOL, much appresciated on the rapid response is this the man himself answering?
@miaggi2 Amazon may have it

@miaggi2 super cool car

Yeah, Lasonic didn't use a good clock for this application. You got some great radios there. Nice list

I have a lasonic trc-975. new with plastic still on it lol. It was my grandpas and he gave it to me
I'm glad you see that the 935 is an over all better box, the 975 is always hailed as the king of the Lasonics, but I think the 935 is better!
I have a 935 missing 2 buttons (FF and program on 2nd cassette) and one cassette door 2nd needs repair. But it sounds great.
Try www.boomboxery.com maybe you can find someone with spares
@@OpenRoader Thanks and it is also for sell
Sorry, not for sale

the 975 has more of a street beat look to it while the 935 has more of a home system look to it both are great in their own way
I 100% agree with you. Thanks for your comments

Appreciate that, just created my profile. dope ass forum! Thanks Again!
Both the 935 and the 975 have AUX IN, but the 975 does NOT have AUX OUT.
