  • This video, RS232 serial communication tutorial - Industrial communication protocols for industrial automation -2, is the second part of RS-232 tutorial.
In our previous lesson, which was the first part of lesson on RS-232, we studied about the electrical characteristics of RS-232 and we had seen what voltage range represent logic 0 and 1 for Data lines and Control Lines. Now we will proceed further about mechanical characteristics of RS-232.
This video explains about the type of control lines.
It will explain why a 25 pin connector was used instead of 9 pin connector, when 9 pins are sufficient for data transmission.
All the pins of a DB9 connector are explained for understanding the SR-232 protocol data transmission.
Limitations of RS-232 Protocols are also explained in this video.
Hope you will like the video. If you like my video then do share it with your near and dear ones, who could be benefitted from this lesson. Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and like this video. I always need your view about the session , so do provide your feedback in the comment section. If you need video on any particular topic, mention it in the comment section, I will try to make a video on that topic too.

RS-232 is not a protocol. That standard only defines pins and voltage levels. What you are referring to is the NRZ protocol. It stands for "Non Return to Zero". You can run this same protocol over RS-422/423 or RS-485.
