Every time I see your lathe work makes me wished I paid attention at school metalwork classes....outstanding. You could hear the difference in the shroud, as you say though, not a great deal. The felt certainly makes it a thud and deadens it a bit. great work.
As you say, it's always difficult to record the difference in sound but I would say that (same as with all my same efforts like this) it usually just highlights the hammer/valve noise, making that the loudest noise after. I have often wondered if anyone has made some form of sound absorbing cover for around the hammer/valve area of a air rifle. I know it always sounds louder when out and in use because, especially on a bullpup, it's right next to your ear. Something for you to work on. As usual, another excellent video. 👏 👍
you are spot on, we try to quieten down the action with guides and delrin tipped hammer, etc before we do a mod or shroud for this reason but as you say the action always ends up being the loudest part
Stunning job as we see you perform on every video, just a shame you don't do custom work for customers. I suspect you would do a much better job than some of the so called tuning come customising experts out there.
Ah lads this quality of work is fantastic. Love the videos. Great to see the effort and passion in your work. I’ll catch up with at the northern shooting show again. The gun is extremely quiet all you can hear is the action imho.
Saluti dall'Italia
Great watch and as ever watched every second 👍 I really enjoyed this one and I think the results sum it up nicely and literally speak for themselves 💪 Well done 👏 another improvement to a cracking rifle 🤌 just goes to show perfection can be perfected 😊 Nice one jeff/jake 🙌 can't wait for the next one 👌 atb
Been waiting to watch this excellent as always extremely informative and great content my dad had his moderators made by hand for his powder burners at least six different calibers some very hot some not in fps i only shoot sub 12 so to seebthis level of lets face it artistry just wish i had the tooling proper lathe work that is grand to see cheers for the video it was a agood watch 👍👍😂
Hi mate, will do. I have a Weihrauch carbine with a integral moderator which has failed. i1m going to have ago at making the internals. Thanks regards Julian
@julianchambers8372 just use curling rollers ,felt, and washers ,I've done the same to my 97k ,but being a springer, you can't really tell ,but I've also fitted a stainless steel piston spring sleeve and the twang is not as bad but I've only put 8 pellets through the new gun lol ,it needs running in
UNF stand for Unified Fine just a thread type, the shroud is just a container for the pressure wave that leaves the barrel of a pcp when fired, it slows the wave down and restricts the expansion this helps to make less of a bang
thank you from Bangladesh. my gun is v 3 .25 700mm . I want to fit a silencer direct to the barrel thread , so which silencer is a great fit direct to the barrle thread. i want to remove shroud because of weight reducing. and want to fit a silencer with the barrel end. so which silencer will be nice fit in the barrel thread ??
I was thinking when i get my Vixen short ,i was going to line the inside of the sroud to see if it takes out the bark ,do you think this will work or what would ypu do ?
Hi, my friend, I have a good job, I would like to know if there is a way to improve the functioning of the side lever, why is it so heavy to assemble? very brave
I'm not amused by how well you manage them, that you don't test them with some sound meter and also with pellets, greetings and have a good day. It's just that I'm embarrassed to mess with them
Xin lỗi bạn có thể cho tôi hỏi đường kính bên trong của lỗ giảm thanh cho cỡ đạn 5.5mm hoặc 4.5mm là bao nhiêu để đảm bảo triệt âm tốt nhất được không ạ
Just converted my HW100 to buddy bottle and form stock but the supplied shroud is not the best, movement after a few shots its held in place with a grub screw, poor really. Do you know of anyone that could design a better shroud that will enable me to fit a moderator on the end as well. I have taken the shroud off now and I am using just a Wierhauch moderator, but the gap between barrel and bottle spoils it a bit.
I like air rifles. and I am very happy with your video, but unfortunately there is no Indonesian language, so I just enjoy the video without understanding your regrets. Please activate Indonesian so I can understand the details of your explanation. Sorry, I made this with the help of Google Translate.
It's a shame the brown shirts at Airgun Nation forums no longer allow this type of content. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
Our pleasure thanks for watching

A beautifully made moderator core for the V3. With the silencer attached the V3 is all but silent! Thanks for sharing the video 👍
Thanks Lee 😀

thanks Phil 😀😀
The best airgun knowhow channel. TX. Great job as always.
thank you

thank you, we would love to have the time to make custom parts for people but it's just not posable at the moment 😀
Thanks again for the fantastic depth and range of advice given here, both in terms of air gunning and engineering.
thank you and thanks for taking the time to comment 👍👍
the best art in airguns, please don't forget what you promised, pressure gauge for the regulator. Greetings
we will try 😁😁
My favorite airgun channel! Thank you for your content.
Wow, thanks glad you like it thanks for watching👍
Amazing piece of work

Moderator looks great, very well machined as always. Will be interesting to see what it looks like when the muzzle brake is completed. 👍👍
Thanks yes we are hoping it adds to the overall look
Fascinating process and excellent work as always!
Thank you! Cheers
Awesome machining as always.
It definitely sounded different IMO, new core without the felt sounded best imo.
we don't really do the felt normally, as long as it takes the bark out we are happy but it does make it a little quieter
As always very interesting, really enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you
Lovely job Jake
thanks Ian 😀
you're a pcp engineer it's sure to every one I'm still shocked bravo bravo bravo
thank you very much 😀😀

thank you fro watching 👍 we love to be able to make the bits available to people we just don't have the time or machines
unfortunantly less than 7.5 joules is useless unless 10 meter targeting and no hunting with airguns is rediculous
Great work as always Jeff, very informative and help full, great watch Cheers 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent work guys. I made a similar device for my latest build but for inside the mod. It's very quiet.
nice one 👍 thanks for watching
I just think it's wonderful how you do that with the explanation just supper
thanks very much 😀😀
Another excellent video 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Can’t wait for the alpha wolf videos😎
Thank you 😀
Any news on the carbon cocking handles 😎
Really enjoy your machining vids. Brilliant engineering skills. 😊😊😊

Always enjoy the metal work. awesome work as usual..

Hi, good video mate. I know its difficult but the noise level didn`t seem much difference. Have you ang drawings available for making a moderator.?
it just doesn't show up on the vids we was going to get a meter just haven't got round to it yet, sorry this one was done off the cuff so no drawings
Listen with headphones ,the mod sounds a lot quieter

Do you think, in general, that its regulator is good, or not?
What about the human regulator?

What Scope are you using there Jeff?
that is the element titan 5-25x56 ffp it's a heavy but a great scope
Hi Master Chief of airgunology.
Good work keep it up more.
Regard
Many thanks
sounded like the new one with no felt was the quietest

4.5 we use 6mm 5.5 we use 7mm that gives good suppression and clearance to minimise the chance of clipping 👍
