Not only he underrated most the songs, but he also misinterprets these lyrics as well. For example, Devil Pray is not a Satanic song. It is about her experiences with drugs and quest for spirituality.
I think you’re one of the those special listeners who prefers Madonna when she sings ballads and slow songs over her dance tracks, bangers, or more controversial tracks. I could tell by the way you were vibing to her slower songs. Madonna actually appreciates people who enjoy her ballads because most people like her dance songs the most, especially when she performs live as her shows are huge spectacles and full of choreography. I recommend you check some of her highly rated and received ballads like “Frozen”, “Power of Goodbye”, “Live to Tell”, “Crazy for You”, “Oh Father”, “Bad Girl”, “Rain”, “Intervention”, “X-Static Process”, “Paradise (Is Not for Me)”, and pretty much most of the tracks on her album Bedtime Stories which includes some great slower R&B inspired tracks like “Secret”, “Take a Bow”, and my personal favorite (not single) “Sanctuary”. I’m sure there are other great ballads I’ve left out other fans can fill in.

I never liked Bodyshop but for some reason listening to it now I heard it differently and I kinda liked her vocals. When I listen on the stereo I always skipped it though. I wish you heard Veni Vidi Vici. That's my cardio jam.

Hello buddy. I'm new to your channel. I'm a huge Madonna fan and I found your reaction very interesting. This is I think her most "generic" album. Madonna is a very versatile artist and she sounds very different in every album, like a whole different artist every time. She can be super experimental and she's done pop, dance, R&B, folk, EDM, house, trip hop and whatnot. But this is her most "safe" album I'd say. There's no such thing as a "typical" Madonna album cos they're all so different. Now, some tips, cos I think you misinterpreted a couple of songs completely. -"Devil Pray" is actually against drugs. It has nothing to do with satanism or anything like that. She's saying "look, you can do all those things, you can lose yourself into the abyss of drugs, but drugs will never be the answer" and so she prays to Mary, she prays to Jesus and the angels to come rescue her from the despair of darkness. It's actually a song about having faith and reaching out for help. "Illuminati" is an ironic song. Madonna is ironic a lot of times. She's been called Illuminati so many times by the tabloids, you know all those conspiracy theories and shit, that she uses that in an ironic way, as a joke about all that nonsense. Well, that said, yes I feel the same way about this album. Some songs are marvelous (Ghosttown, Heartbreak City, Hold Tight), but there are some songs I never listen to (Illuminati, Iconic, Unapologetic Bitch) cos I really don't resonate with them, and that's coming from a lifetime Madonna fan. So, if you don't really vibe with this album, don't throw the towel. Madonna is a journey worth taking believe me. Try more albums like Bedtime Stories, American Life, Erotica, Ray of Light, True Blue. I think you'll like those more.
i agree with everything you said about this album. Because the songs of this album where leaked before the album came out, madonna and her team changed a lot of the production of the music. The leaked demo's have different arrangement and sound. i prefer the leaked songs over the album version. Like " rebel heart', "inside out" , wash all over me" "hold tight" and "joan of arc" But it is a journey and what kind of a journey!! Not only the albums, but also the soundtracks, the b-sides, the unreleased tracks, the collaborations. Madoona songs can make you feel sad or happy, think about it or just dance and go with te flow :)
So the original concept of the album was that it would be a 2-sided album - the REBEL side and the HEART side, depicting the duality of her personality. The REBEL side represents all the naughty songs and the HEART side represents all the romantic songs. Looks like you didn’t like the REBEL stuff.
Holy Water is objectively a little blasphemous, especially after watching its live performance on the Rebel Heart tour. As a fan, I was disappointed by that performance (although the pole surfing was one of the best parts in the show), because in the past Madonna used religion to push strong positive messages (think of Live to Tell at Confession tour or Like a Prayer mv), meanwhile with Holy Water she used religion for the sake of provoke people. No wonders than when she toured in the Philippines, a religious country, she had to bow down and remove the Holy Water performance from the show. That part was clearly very offensive to Christian religion for no reason at all, she had no message or deep meaning to justify that performance, so she had to took it down.
if you look up the pictures from inside the sleeve of the Rebel Heart CD there is a picture of just her hand holding a real human heart I think that's probably what you meant when you said she should put something different on her cover check it out
I think this is where you honestly have to do your research on Madonna bc her discography is so extensive and each album can stand alone, but taking one album outside of the context of her entire body of work you will def be lost.
I love Holy Water. It sounds like video game sounds in the chorus. The instrumental is amazing. Also Iconic. Most of this album is in my cardio mix. Best Night is one of my faves.

Like Miles Away sounds a lot like Devil Pray, Candy Shop vs Body Shop, Joan of Arc is like ‘do some Like a Prayerish song’, yo Diplo, give me a somg with Bitch in it, 2 oh yeah let’s throw them on, Kanye give me anything to ride your wave. Madonna herself said she didn’t enjoy working on this album. I think she put a lot of time in the balad/slow songs which would be 1 part of this album. Anyways, still interesting in her catalogue but maybe MDNA has more good songs😅 Thanks for the reaction I agreed on almost everything and I’m a big fan🙏🏽
The track Living for Love features Alicia Keys. Alicia plays the piano part and provides the gospel sounding background vocals. Alicia was heavily pregnant when M was shooting the video so she had to refuse an appearance on camera which apparently Alicia was gutted about because surprising she is a massive Madonna fan. I never thought Alicia would be into M. Just shows you never know. ❤️❤️
