In going straight up, the motion highlights abduction of the hip. Rotation can of course be added to increase mobilization of the hip joint and can even include adduction where the pelvis and trunk are rotated toward the floor. I suppose it just depends on what you want to accomplish with the movement.

Shouldn’t you be rotating the hip more in the oblique sit? And not just go straight up?

I have torticollis probably due to weak front neck muscles as my head falls backwards while walking or standing. Any thing you can suggest to help me with the condition? 🙏

I've never worked with someone with that condition Eujanio and therefore have no experience with it. However, most people I have worked with lack responsiveness in their deep cervical flexors and benefit from learning ways to use those muscles more in more of their movements. I'd suggest finding a trainer who can help you with learning how to do that. It's also possible you could see some improvement from using some of my videos. I would direct your attention to "Abs, Neck & Shoulders" and "Spinal Extension" in particular. I just made those 2 videos public for your convenence. Best of luck!
