Austin is the new updated version of those old Pokémon guidebooks. Thank God for the internet. A lot of gen Z and Alpha gamers won't ever have to know the struggle of trying to figure out how to complete a game with little to no help. Part of me will be jealous of that, but I'm mostly glad this fountain of information exists.

Note for Pawmo: it requires the 1000 steps, but it will only evolve when the steps are reached AND it levels up. I walked in a loop for about 3 hours before learning about this as seribii just says walk in the overworld
So finizen evolves, with the power of friendship, into a pokemon that can transform into a superhero if they are allowed to go back into their pokeball to do a quick outfit change.
If it wasnt mentioned yet in the comments, to get the Dusk Lycanroc, as said in the video, you need a Rockruff with Own Tempo, after that level it to 25. Then the ingame time matters, when you open your map a little symbol on thr top appears, that will indicate the time, and once it hits dusk (orange symbol) that is when you need it to level up. The dusk period is around for about 2 or 3 minutes, thats why you might have had trouble evolving him.
Dusk Lycanroc uses in-game time! A sunset icon shows at the top of the map screen for reference (roughly a 5-10 minute window between the day>night cycle)

@@curiouscreator8806 funny seeing as dusk form lycanrock can't be encountered in the wild... it can only be found in dens (if you're extremely lucky like the first dude in this comment thread) or evolved from a rockruff with the own tempo ability while the sun is going down, the only lycanrock's you'll encounter in the wild is regular lycanrock and night form lycanrock

For those of you who don't have anyone to play a group session with in order to evolve finizen, you're still in luck. I also don't have anyone to play group sessions with or trade with and am very happy that palafin appears in raids (I think 5 or 6 star raids, I can't remember which one I caught mine in) just like all trade pokemon in this game. Even though you can't get version exclusive pokemon without another person or buying the other game, I'm very grateful that gamefreak implemented a way to get every co-op/trade 'exclusive' pokemon into the game without the afformentioned requirements. It makes it so much easier to catch some often out of reach pokemon for us lone players.
Imagine how much easier it would be if they found other ways to evolve Them. Their solution is to make Them available in raids instead of making evolve without connecting to another game. So many steps for nothing
You actually can get version exclusive Pokemon in tera raids. I see Armorouge and Ceruledge quite frequently and I also have caught Tyranitar, Hydregeion, Skelp, etc. The only ones you can't get obviously are the paradox Pokemon.
This is what happens when new games drop :) Austin gets to work to make sure he gets accurate videos out there. It's why I subscribed and bookmarked about 6 of his on PLA and BDSP. (And made sure to do so for Breath of the Wild for when I pick that game back up.)
@@AnywhereMiami they have all been shown in previous videos lol don't look at poke content if you you don't want spoilers since a new Pokemon game just dropped. That's common sense mah boi, you didn't get forced to watch.
There is a terrastalized own tempo rockruff that’s static. It depends on the in game time. You can check your map and if the icon in the center top is orange resembling sunset that’s the time to level it up and evolve. Sunset only lasts a couple minutes so you have to be quick
I'm guessing Pawmo's logic of having the step count evolution is you're just taking your pet on a walk and it triggers a similar response with friendship evolution but instead of affection your relationship is based on mileage
My thinking was because it's fighting type and gets bigger like it's been working out, the walking thing is because you're exercising it. Once it's got hench enough it evolves 🤣💪
@@UnderChromey I've seen another comment say the reason why Pawmo evolves by walking is because it needs to generate electricity by moving to use the revival move it learns after evolving, similar to how a defibrillator has to charge itself up before being able to revive someone
Anihilape is easily my ace. I love it. 20 plus years of Primape being on the back burner but they did him justice. I especially like that cracking sound he makes when he gets done beating something. Sounds like bone joints popping.
9:40 you can refuse the battle and she will say she needs to change her team up to face you. then she will come back and face you after the gym. its a weird mechanic since normally, refusing a battle like that will cause you to back out and come back later, but instead if makes your rival back out and come back later.
Never was huge into Pokémon but these last 2 games have made me a huge fan I finally see why people love the series the fighting is fun and building a personal team and beating other guys teams is so much fun
6:25 Pawmot does have a signature move, but it's not Revival Blessing (Rabsca also gets it). Its signature move is actually Double Shock, which is basically an Electric-type Burn Up.
I do believe the story beats with your rival are dynamic. I did the psychic gym as my 3rd gym, fought my rival and was so cocky about it, just for the gym leader to almost scrape the floor with me lmao. My rival was in the 20s but the gym leader was in the 40s lol, really set me up to not be ready for the fight I was pretty confident about and I loved the thrill of that lmao.
The story beats with your rival, and the NPCs that you meet before/after the gym battle, are in a set order. Which is why what you described can happen.
I actually really like that feature in Legends Arceus in which your pokemon won’t evolve until you want it to evolve. I wish this feature was in Scarlet/Violet. Kinda makes the everstone useless though. Also, I think Girafarig should have evolved by learning or using the move reversal.
As for the Nemona battle, I think she battles you before a gym if you go for the badge "out of order" even though there is no order. She battled me before a gym to make sure I was ready for the leader, which was kinda nice because I beat her but felt a little under leveled. Went back out to train a few levels and did fine with the leader.
@@Golladan that could be the case, but after playing some more I really do think it's about your level and the level of the gym. If you're under leveled, she battles you before. If you're over leveled, she battles you after. I did the bug gym and grass gyms first. Then I decided to do the water gym next and she fought me before I did that challenge. Go to fight the water guy and I would have been really under leveled if she hadn't battled me, giving me exp and giving me a hint to maybe grind some more. I was still a tad under leveled for the water guy but I was way better off than I would have been before realizing I needed to grind more. Then I did the normal gym, the electric gym, and the psychic gym, all of which I was either over leveled or on par. She fought me AFTER the psychic gym instead of before. I think this was because I was on par with the levels for that gym so there was no need to fight me before to give me an exp boost. I could be wrong but even her dialog before she fought me before the water gym was like "let me make sure you're ready for this gym". If I were to do the gyms again, I would have done bug, grass, electric, water, normal, then psychic. But I did the water 3rd instead of 4th so I essentially did it "out of order" and the game was trying to help me correct that in its own way by helping me level up BEFORE the gym and not after. So my theory is it's based on your teams levels compared to the gyms levels on whether she fights you before or after the gym.
@@reiniamajiki4179 It's not based on level. It's based on badges. She will always fight you before the 3rd gym regardless of which gym you do or which level. She will battle you after the 5th gym, which is when Geeta will be present and give you TMs for Tera Blast, though she will show up before the fight and say she needs to switch up her team. She will fight you before the 7th gym. I was overlevelled in all instances and she still fought me like that. Austin experienced the same thing here, where Nemona fought him before the normal gym when he did it as the third gym, and after the normal gym when he did it as the fifth gym.
Thank you so much for explaining Bisharp’s evolution method, I found a shiny Pawniard, 11hrs in to my first playthrough and no badges, really looking forward to getting Kingambit
I wish someone did a guide to the Tauros in these games. I Just learned that scarlet has a fire fighting and violet has water fighting if you get the right spawn!! What?!? This is amazing and such a hidden thing!
Yea the interaction with Nemona changes depending on your routes. She also says that she will change her roaster of pokemons to match what you have with lvls etc
can confirm I kinda went into it blind and ran the map clockwise doing the story as I go along - finished the last "gym" as the 3rd gym, needless to say I was overleveled as I completed the rest lol, even the big pokemon ones, I got dash last which was pretty annoying but funny
You can get a ralts way before finding the rock puppers so having a ralts with the ability trace makes it easy to figure out which rockruff has own tempo.
Another one lol, for haunter, there is an npc in the town where the electric gym leader is, around that big circle where the battle field is, she will trade you her haunter if you give her a pinchurin, which can easily be found on the beach just outside that town, when you trade her, the haunter you get from her will auto evolve to gengar, so you don't have to trade with another real person, that npc will basically give you a gengar
Lmao love the replies, and no it's not a troll trade it does evolve when you get it from her cuz after that she comments on it something like, "oh my hauntikins evolved? Wow ya I heard that some pokemon evolve when you trade them"
Your rival and other NPC interactions in and around gyms will happen anywhere it just depends how many gyms you've defeated before that point, they will always happen at the same TIME just a different place.
Damn that last Evolution not only looks super cool, evolves from an already cool Pokemon from my favorite Gen but ALSO is pretty complicated to do...I LOVE it xD
Maushold is officially my favorite pokemon of all time,I didn't think itd be possible for a new pokemon to capture my heart like this. I sat laughing at the name "Maushold" for 10 minutes straight after evolving 🤣🤣🤣
For Pawmot you have to do the evolution while its out walking with you. If you put it away after the 1000 steps and level it then no evolution. I had been walking with it for so long and it was leveling up but never evolving until I sat and did walk around for like 3 minutes and then leveled it. So if you want it evolved FOCUS on just it for the moment
Yes, a three-segmented Dudunsparce can be found in Area Zero. As I was looking for my version's paradox pokemon, I found a couple three-segmented forms which confused me as I never knew there was more than the two segments haha
Honestly it’s a bit disappointing that the linking cable doesn’t seem to have returned. Made all the trade evos so much better in my opinion. Hell I’d even take having to use it while the Pokémon holds the object like scyther and the metal coat.
Rabsca also has revival blessing. Pawmot’s signature move is Doubleshock. Be mindful that Pawmot uses up all of its electricity and loses its electric typing as a result, similar to burn up on a fire type.
Someone surprise traded me a Scyther holding a metal coat, I was pretty surprised when it started evolving. I already had a Scyther + metal coat, I just needed to get someone to trade with, so I paid it forward and surprise traded mine away.
Official pronunciation, according to a now official release from Pokémon (why no one realized it from Silvally's ability for obvious reasons), it is Ark ee us. For anyone who is a stickler for the Canon pronunciation
I’m sure somebody’s already mentioned this, but a good way to find a Rockruff with Own Tempo is to make a Pokémon with intimidate your party leader. Since intimidate immediately goes into effect when entering an encounter and Own Tempo counters Intimidate, if you encounter a Rockruff and Intimidate doesn’t activate, that Rockruff has the ability
The bisharp evolution is modeled after Shogi, a Japanese chess like game. That is why the evolution is sitting down, seemingly looking over a board or table. The crests, that's a thing in shogi. You can defeat high ranking pieces, to promote your own crests which represent soldiers and infantry, in a war. Figured not many Americans would catch onto that so, your welcome
Own tempo Rockruff works on in game dusk time. Easiest way to find one, run a pokemon with intimidate and fight all of them until one doesn't lose attack from it.
Note for the 1000 steps ones, all the steps have to be in one sitting. Returning the pokemon to its ball or entering a battle cancels this, so level up with candies Also a quick piece of advice since I know this method can be maddening, go to the battle area in the center of Mesagoza, with the type icon circle. Hold the left stick to the side for about 4 minutes and you’ll get all those steps easily
Thanks SO much, whenever I ask about anything people don't want to "spoil it" so I never find out anything. I wanna know this what I need to do, I don't care about spoilers!!!
I'm not gonna lie. It kinda upsets me that Palafin is locked behind having a friend or having a second switch. Wish I knew that before I hunted a shiny Finizen.
Also another comment, about the dusk form lycanroc, so tbh I didn't know anything about it's dusk form, I didn't know that was a thing until I watched this video here you made lol, I knew midday form and midnight form, so early in game I caught 2 rockruffs so I could evolve both forms, trained them up, one during the day and one during the night, at 25 I got midnight form, so I leveled the other one to 25 during the day, never evolved, I thought that was weird, I kept doing that til it was lvl 30 and still didn't evolve, day or night, and I couldn't figure out why lol, now I don't always pay attention to the abilities, so I thought it was a glitch, after watching your video, I checked my "glitched rockruff" and sure enough it had "own tempo" 🤣🤣 now on your map at the top there's an icon that shows a sun or moon if it's day in game or night, but if you watch the sky, when the sun starts to set, that icon on your map changes to a sunset before changing to a moon, as soon as that little sunset icon hit, I leveled him up and got dusk form, so yes it is sunset in game that you need to evolve "own tempo" rockruff, it's a very short window of time cuz it quickly switches from day to night, through dusk, it only takes maybe a min for it to change again to night time, so be ready with a rare candy or exp candy to make him level asap when that sunset hits
The best thing about Tandemaus is that is has the ability Pick Up, so one day I was just checking to grab what they picked up and apparently it was 2 kids. They of course can't afford to pick up things for me now, instead they just keep a lot of berries in their mouth. PS. it was a perfect Pokemon for Parental Bond, it would have been amazing.

I was evolving pokemon for my pokedex while watching this and my Dunsparce evolved into the three segment form Would not have known it was rare if I wasn't watching this
I know Palafin's ability is kind of a chore but my god. I just love it so much. 'Man I can't believe you missed it, Finizen! Palafin was just here!' 'Haha I know Lois, but I'm afraid I had to go make a phone call! What bad luck.'
I appreciate you’re vids dude! ever since sword and shield your tips and tricks have helped a lot on my various pokemon adventures. Keep up the good work on these games!
own temp rockruff isn't hard to find, i found where they spawned and then just caught a bunch until i found one with own tempo. Only had to catch about fifteen of them before i found one. As for the Nemona battles, i think the rival story works independently of gym order and is just checking for how many gym badges you have. so you have the encounter after the second gym but before you do the third gym, and that will play out regardless of gym order.
Own tempo isn’t rockruff’s hidden ability, it’s steadfast. Own tempo was just a special ability from ultra sun and moon. It can be found in the wild with own tempo normally, I used a trace kirlia to find rockruff with own tempo
I think the 1000 steps is the Pokemon's actual steps (it took less distance with Rellor than with Pawmo) Also just Level when you think you walked far enough and, chances are, you've walked more than enough.
Too anyone need to Evolutions Pokémon by number of steps, go back to the Academy courtyard and there is a compass artwork by the Gate. What you need to do is run around in one of two brown brick circles to make sure the Pokémon does not go back in the ball. For the slow Pokémon use the Innercircle, For the fast Pokémon use the outercircle!

The best form is dusk but its soo convoluted. Just because of the 30% physical dmg buff is absolutely massive for a mon that does physical damage
Bisharp's method of evolution is so freaking unique and cool. Glad that one of my favorite Pokemon got another evolution!
It also makes sense for it to become king. Tedious for the trainer, but still cool
Its really annoying to find the leader spawns
The bisharp became mother freaking Shingin! That is hilarious. You know it is Shingen because almost every depiction has him sitting almost every time.

For the Nemona fight, rival fights and interactions (like with the elite four guy) are based off of the order in which you fight the gyms
I just used the Pokémon discord server for someone to help me evolve it
Imagine how much easier it would be if they found other ways to evolve Them.
Can u help me evolve my finizen

This is what happens when new games drop :) Austin gets to work to make sure he gets accurate videos out there. It's why I subscribed and bookmarked about 6 of his on PLA and BDSP. (And made sure to do so for Breath of the Wild for when I pick that game back up.)

Just in case anyone was wondering, lycanroc dusk evolves based on in-game time.
schuman?
Does it need the Own Tempo ability as well?
Yep, own tempo and in game sundown
There is a terrastalized own tempo rockruff that’s static. It depends on the in game time. You can check your map and if the icon in the center top is orange resembling sunset that’s the time to level it up and evolve. Sunset only lasts a couple minutes so you have to be quick
Where is that rock ruff located ??? And is the Tera type random or are they all the same across all the games for the rockruff encounter ?
Yo I got that one early game! I forgot the location, I would have placed it here...
@@hommefataltaemin I got psychic Tera type rockruff. Wonder if everyone else got different ones
I found it NW of Cascarrafa
"You should have evolved by now" me with my level 45 Applin

I'm guessing Pawmo's logic of having the step count evolution is you're just taking your pet on a walk and it triggers a similar response with friendship evolution but instead of affection your relationship is based on mileage
yeah im starting to think so myself... i have done 8 laps with 2 diffrent pawmos and they havent evolved at all...
nvm! austin just forgot to tell me i need to level it after 3 laps xD
I'm so happy Primeape got more love with an evolution. I'm def using an Annihilape.
In any case, it's all still based on gym bad progress, and not on the specific gym.
I really didn't care for Palafin, but after hearing the explanation behind his evolution....he's warming up to me. It's a cute idea.
For the Dusk rockruff there is one in the wild that's terrasteralized just catch it and look at your pokedex. When the sun is orange the time is right.
I actually really like that feature in Legends Arceus in which your pokemon won’t evolve until you want it to evolve. I wish this feature was in Scarlet/Violet. Kinda makes the everstone useless though. Also, I think Girafarig should have evolved by learning or using the move reversal.
Yeah, same
Im beyond extatic that they finally brought back Mankey and i love its new solomon grundy look.
Nah it just depends on how many gym badges you have.
It’s the 3rd gym:) doesn’t matter which 3 tho
Thank you so much for explaining Bisharp’s evolution method, I found a shiny Pawniard, 11hrs in to my first playthrough and no badges, really looking forward to getting Kingambit

I wish someone did a guide to the Tauros in these games. I Just learned that scarlet has a fire fighting and violet has water fighting if you get the right spawn!! What?!? This is amazing and such a hidden thing!
He’s done a video on this. I can’t remember which one, but he has done one 😊
I just got a fighting/water Tauros earlier this evening. I really wish it had that anger ability though.
Tauros can be found in either the east or west province area two. use either the fire or water evolution power as the alternate forms are very rare.
I have a friend who found an Aqua Breed in the wild, only to discover it was a freaking Ditto.
Update: after the 1000 steps for pawmo you have to level it up in order to evolve it, and it can’t go back into the ball, that’s very important**

For Pawmo you're running with them as training so they can get stronk and earn that fighting subtype. At least that's how I interpret it.
Thank you, didn't know i had to level it up after the steps.
the 1000 step requirement can also be met by walking from the front gates of mesagoza to the front doors of the school
You can also stand still, let pawmo run around you while you afk and after 1000 of its own steps, throw a rare candy at it
stand on top of a pokecenter/mart thing and it will run really fast in circles

Honestly it’s a bit disappointing that the linking cable doesn’t seem to have returned. Made all the trade evos so much better in my opinion. Hell I’d even take having to use it while the Pokémon holds the object like scyther and the metal coat.
Tandemaus also evolves when leveling by beating an opponent in combat. For me it didn't evolve in the back because I leveled it with xp candies.
6:24 revival blessing isn’t actually pawmot’s signature move because rabsca also learns it
This has been the best run-through explanation of any game I've ever seen. Followed off this. Going in order of pokedex while having it side by side
Rabsca also has revival blessing. Pawmot’s signature move is Doubleshock. Be mindful that Pawmot uses up all of its electricity and loses its electric typing as a result, similar to burn up on a fire type.
Does it become normal type?
@@Allycat101010 its lightning fighting, so after double shock it just becomes pure fighting
Pawmi - 1000 steps
Pawmo - 1000 steps
Rellor - 1000 steps
Bramblin - 1000 steps
Gimmighoul - 1000 coins
Bisharp - Leader's Crest
Dunsparce - Hyper Drill
Girafarig - Twin Beam
Inkay - Upside down console
Milcery - use sweet
Primeape - Rage Fist
Returning the pokemon to its ball or entering a battle cancels this, so level up with candies
Also a quick piece of advice since I know this method can be maddening, go to the battle area in the center of Mesagoza, with the type icon circle. Hold the left stick to the side for about 4 minutes and you’ll get all those steps easily
Thank you! I’ve been walking in spurts for over an hour and leveled up twice!
@@genevievemason9080 Glad I could help!
King gambit looks like a BOSS
That dolfin evolution method and the whole concept of its ability is really cool
The best thing about Tandemaus is that is has the ability Pick Up, so one day I was just checking to grab what they picked up and apparently it was 2 kids. They of course can't afford to pick up things for me now, instead they just keep a lot of berries in their mouth.
PS. it was a perfect Pokemon for Parental Bond, it would have been amazing.

own temp rockruff isn't hard to find, i found where they spawned and then just caught a bunch until i found one with own tempo. Only had to catch about fifteen of them before i found one. As for the Nemona battles, i think the rival story works independently of gym order and is just checking for how many gym badges you have. so you have the encounter after the second gym but before you do the third gym, and that will play out regardless of gym order.
Just lead with a Pokémon that has Trace or Intimidate next time. You'll know what ability the Rockruff has immediately.
