I won't pay full price for an unfinished game from corporations like EA. So, just only $2 (By the way, I bought NFS Heat for $2 on Steam a few years ago😃).
*Even so,* I don't want to install an ADDITIONAL launcher on my computer that, when completely closed, keeps running in the background (🤬). I don't agree with that, so even at $2 I don't want it.

Personally I like the basic cartoon smokes, it adds up to how it creates character to each of your car, and it's good that you can now have the option to turn it off for those who didn't like it.

The effects quickly grew on me back when I tried playing Unbound. I think the effects add some sort of excitement to the motion that wouldn’t be there, if we only had that boring map to play on. Anything added to make the lifeless map feel alive is a nice option to have!

It absolutely makes me wanna try the game and I wouldn't have before.
Realism and cartoon-style doesn't mix at all! It needs to be consistent between one or the other for there to be the most important part of ANY video game:
*IMMERSION,* the ability to forget everything around you and think and feel as if you were actually inside the game world, experiencing it as the character(/car) you control!
That's the fun of video games: to get sucked into the fantasy. Whether that fantasy looks photorealistic, cartoony, phantastical, abstract or low-res pixel art style does not matter, but the slightest inconsistency in art style can break the immersion and these smoke effects are a MASSIVELY inconsistency!

That BMW is tight.
My one gripe that I used to have that they fixed was only having ONE smoke available.
Made it very difficult to use a red smoke among a blue car, pink car, and green car while looking good.
