  • Hi friends.. Here is a compilation of some avocado grafting methods that I have ever done. Which this time I present in the form of simple animation, hopefully can give clear instructions to you. I apologize if some of the grafting files have been lost, and some of the grafting plants did not have the chance to document them. But I make sure all the grafting methods here have proven to be successfully applied to avocado plants. Thank's.

    Hugs to you. This is the best tutorial I've seen, and I've watched most of them.
    When you have people's fingers in the way and bad camera angles, or lighting, even the best tutorial is difficult to understand. So thank you for investing time and knowledge to educate those of us who were apprehensive to try.

    Very good video on grafting techniques. However, I think you should stress that in all the techniques the cambiums of scion and seedling must touch each other to ensure success of the grafting.

    Hi, great video! I have 2 questions:
    - I'm in France, would you recommand spring or summer to graft avocado?
    - Do you cut all leaves for grafting? or rootstock/scion have leaves?

    • @agro_maniac
      @agro_maniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx 🙏
      1. I think spring is better
      2. For Rootstock can leave the leaves, because the part that is cut is the shoot. As for scions, it's best to remove all of the leaves.

    • @agro_maniac

      You don't have to use special grafting tape, because I also often do grafts using ordinary plastic that I attach to the two stem incisions. It's just that we need to remove this type of plastic manually when the grafting process has been successful. 🙏

    1. How many months or years does...it takes a grafted avocado tree to produce fruit...
    2. Can I take Scion from avocado tree that had not produce any fruit.... before or...that had not started producing..fruit...
    Thanks

    • @agro_maniac
      @agro_maniac  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. With good care, grafted avocado will usually start bearing fruit in the 4th year in our tropical country.
      2. Scions should be taken from trees whose varieties are valid, that the fruit is of good quality, although not yet bearing fruit it doesn't matter.

      You can graft them two each other.
      But, you will not get any benefit from the grafting. If there is no avocado tree at all, you better just take care of the seedling until later it bears fruit, even though it will take a very long time. Thx 🙏

    • @agro_maniac
      @agro_maniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the incision doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. In principle it only attaches / fuses the rootstock incision and the scion incision which still has a cambium, so a slight gap in my opinion is not a problem. But it would be much better if there were no gaps at all.. 😁

    how far from the soil do you cut the rootstock? can you cut far, so when your graft fails, you just cut lower and repeat the grafting? how long do you wait to consider your graft successful, when it has turned black in a few weeks?

    • @agro_maniac
      @agro_maniac  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This video only shows the grafting incision method only. How far I cut the rootstock from the soil depends on the condition of the rootstock. If the rootstock is still very young, where in the middle the stem is full of cambium from top to bottom, you can cut it anywhere from top to bottom, this can be done. However, if the rootstock is 1.5 months and older, I usually cut it only at the top of the stem. Because at that age, in the middle of the rootstock stem is usually already filled with a kind of cork tissue. So that grafting is easier to do at the top of the stem. Please check my other videos, because actually I have explained this. Thx 🙏
