Coming from the perspective of someone whos really experienced in both the original and the remastered version I think my list would be a controversial one. Remaster: 1: The Lab 2: Generator Room 3: Slippery Climb 4: The Lost City 5: Toxic Waste 6: Lights Out Original: 1: The Lab 2: Toxic Waste 3: Slippery Climb 4: Generator Room 5: The Lost City 6: Lights Out The Lab definitely provides a lot of trouble, as for Generator Room the change in physics from original to remaster increases its difficulty (though some advice for the tnt crates, spinning the camera enemy into them is an option if you aren't confident breaking the box). Slippery Climb is mostly muscle memory in both versions, however controls in the original make it significantly harder. Toxic Waste... OH TOXIC WASTE. The difficulty shift comes from the lack of depth perception and indicators for the bouncing barrels in the original. The remaster has small marks on the path where the barrels bounce so standing between them is a safe space. Lost City I've never had trouble with, is mostly muscle memory again. And Lights Out, as stated the shorter level makes for an even more relaxing gem to get (also purple gem is best gem :D)
I agree with numbers one. Lost City was true pain in ass took me whole day to get gem, at least let's be thankful that colored gems aren't on High Road or Road to Nowhere (especially Time Trial on Lost City and High Road are more harder)
Slippery Climb and The Lost City are neck and neck for me. They were the WORST. I cringed so hard in those levels, especially when I landed in the fire pit in the lost city.
DNator imagine if they put colored gems on High Road It would be even worse than "pay to win" games (at leats let's be thankful that Crash Bandicoot isn't owned by EA because they would cause him even greater damage than Activision already did in the past(im talking about Crash of Titans and Mind over Mutants))
That would be hell. To be honest I actually like titans and mutants but yeah if EA owned him, I'd probably want to cry. I'll one up you on the colored gem discussion. Imagine if they put a colored gem in *STORMY ASCENT*
DNator i know that everyone has different opinions but only problem with Titans and Mutants to me where Crash's Aku Aku((really fucking stupid) and Tiny's design
The Lost City took me days to get the gem in. This level almost made me give up. I didn't find Slippery Climb that bad, think I got the gem in my second try. But the Lost City is brutal...
Since earning the platinum trophy for all 3 games within the week of its release, I found obtaining the 6 Coloured gems equally difficult the first time for the most part as it took about 1-5 attempts. From calm to nerve racking: 6: Level 18: Toxic Waste - Blue Gem 5: Level 10: The Lost City - Green Gem 4: Level 21: Lights Out - Purple Gem 3: Level 17: Generator Room - Orange Gem 2: Level 20: Slippery Climb - Red Gem 1: Level 24: The Lab - Yellow Gem My tip for the players (newcomers especially): If you die, then play the level to the end so you have the idea of how to overcome the obstacle for the next time.
The lost city it goes on for far to long, it isn't a hard level by anymeans but when your forced to not make a mistake for 4 minutes straight its like damn
I don’t know how but the green gem was my first coloured gem, probably because after playing it non stop for two hours I had it memorized 😂. Also if you want The Lost City can be exploited very easily for free lives
My ranking: 6: Toxic Waste. 5: Generator Room. 4: The Lab. 3: Lights Out (Simply because you need the Yellow Gem for it.) 2: The Lost City. 1: Slippery Climb.
The easiest for me was toxic waste cuz it was nice a short and I could avoid the barrels quite easy and the hardest for me was lost city cuz of all of the hidden crates (that tawna bonus can go and die)
You are totally right. The green gem is the hardest. If i remember well it did the red gem at first try ! But i was on fire. However i would not put the purple gem behind the blue one. It’s less anoying to restart the level of the blue gem than the one of the purple gem.
I agree with your list for the most part. Right now i'm trying to 100% the game and so far ive got the green and blue colored gem,and I'm trying to get the yellow. But you are right, the lost city is a pain to complete without dieing
I honestly don't find Slippery Climb that hard, but Sunset Vista can die in a hole. It's way longer than it should be and can be borderline unfair at times.
I love this channel man. The nuance in what you discuss in superb 👌. I found you from your Crash 2 time trials ranked video. Glad I subscribed. I know it’s late but a crash 1 and 3 time trial difficulty rank video would be awesome. Keep doin what you do.
It is very interesting how different types of challenges affect people differently. I'm currently going through the original Crash 1 playing with keyboard, and so far the hardest colored gem by a mile has been the blue one in toxic waste, I lost at least 20 lives there. , lost city about 5 and the orange gem was the easiest to get, got it on the third try
I think it's really dependent on your situation; when I first played the N. Sane trilogy years ago, I lost _all my lives_ on the Purple Gem Run in Lights Out. Then just last week, I did it in one-go. This time, the one that I messed-up on the most was Toxic Waste; kept messing up just before the end. The Lab was particularly irritating; mainly because the Bonus-Stage is so easy to mess-up, meaning you lose your Aku. Generator Room I actually found to be more straight-forward; it gave me a challenge of course, but I didn't find it to be difficult, but rather tedious. Really, the thing the last two have in-common are the length and high box counts. I spent the longest on Lost City too, but a very short time on Slippery Climb. However, I found that the two have very distinct patterns that the player must fall into to succeed; therefore, the longer it takes to do them, the easier it becomes.
0:00 - So instead of relics you decided to rank the colored gems in the 1st game? Why is that? 0:30 - Plus all you needed to do was to find a warp point to a different level or special gem or death paths which had their own challenge but not too hard. 0:36 - Easier then on PS1 since that would apply to all gems in the 1st game in general. 0:55 - So you would say this gem was easier to get then the blue gem from Toxic Waste? 2:04 - But why are there two yellow gems? (SIGH) ... High Road as well as some of the others. 8:26 - How did they end up making the first color gem the hardest to get?! 8:53 - It's highly recommended that you spin at them whilst jumping, it'll help keep the bats away whilst in the air. 9:08 - So I take it you didn't research the let's plays on this game on PS1 or you just accidentally forgotten at the time? ;) 9:09 - "Bryo"? 9:48 - I definitely do know what you mean. 10:04 - I don't know how that's possible since I've done that a few times and I just keep dying from him. :P 10:17 - The best challenge of the level so far. 10:46 - And just when the finish is right there! For me red gem was the hardest in the original in the n sane trilogy the red gem was not that hard yellow gem in the original was not that hard in the n sane trilogy the yellow gem was the hardest colour gem. I still find the red gem hard to get in the original.
My list: 1. Slippery Climb 2. The Lab 3. Lights Out 4. Lost City 5. Generator Room 6. Toxic Waste Personally I only found Slippery Climb, The Lab, and Lights Out to be difficult. The others I got on my first or second try
I'd argue the purple gem shouldn't be the easiest, ONLY because you need the yellow gem to even get it, meaning you have to play through The Lab to even be able to attempt to get the purple gem.
For what it's worth, I got like 97% on the original crash but could NOT get the red gem in slippery climb. I think I gave up cursing the makers of the game. I think overall with the exception of the high road this game feels easier. Not sure if it will feel like redemption for me when I get all of the gems. Saving slippery climb for last... Lost City bonus round was so annoying, you're right about that. Ha
@@VtnVivi I think it was good that they made the game easier and also added time trials for people that want an additional challenge. but when I 100%'d it, it didn't feel like I beat the original game as well. haha. slippery climb ended up being pretty easy in the remake.
