I made the poor man's steak, twice baked potatoes, noodles, and monster cookies last week and my family LOVED all of them. I can't wait to try more of your recipes. Thanks!
They looked awesome ! Thank you for giving me the confidence to try canning . My mom would say you could explode your kitchen but I am going to try it anyway 😃 I am going to look for her book thanks for sharing 🤗
Love your cooking videos, Lynette! I've never had grape pie, but it sounds intriguing! Two tips for canning (I love to can!!): always wipe your rims with vinegar before you put your lids on and putting vinegar in your canning water will keep the jars from becoming cloudy :)
I always thought I wasn’t a “dough person” too, until I discovered Laura Vitale’s recipes... Every dough of hers (whether a bread, roll, pie, cinnamon roll, sticky bun, etc.) has turned out excellent! Maybe you ARE a dough person after all! 😂
Perfect timing! My 8 year old daughter and I decided we wanted to try canning and your video popped right up! I’ve never heard of grape pie, but we are going to give it a try! Love your videos!
Old school -- we always have had a shallow pan of boiling water and used that for the lids and rings - better safe than sorry. We need to get you a canner! You need to cover the jars by a couple inches. So glad to see you canning - hope to see more - it is that time of year and nothing better than home canned tomatoes!
We never covered our cans with water just up like an inch away from the opening. We come from eastern europe and canning was a way you survived the winter.
@@alyhome Isn't that funny, our family came over from Switzerland to Indiana then on to Missouri (and I came on to Florida). Do you have freezer space? I was thinking that chili would be great frozen. I've retired from canning but still have my canners :) Hard to admit the work is too much as you age (71).
I love when you cook Lynette, especially dishes from your Amish background! That grape pie looked so amazing😊. My late grandmother used to have that for desert when we would go up to Amish country every so often…I’ve never seen how to make it but now I’m so excited to try it for myself and have it in her memory❤️. Thank you for sharing it🥰
Lynette, thanks so much for your time and effort in putting these videos together. Thank you for mentioning Hope’s cookbook. I will definitely be ordering the cookbook. The cinnamon rolls look so yummy.
I could not recall some of the canning steps from my younger days Lynette Thank you for the refresher ♡ We placed the lids and rings in boiling water (I was the assistant and not in charge😂) Congratulations to you your husband and your family A new little life is a wonderful gift 💕 Thank you for sharing
Lynette, those pies looked fantastic and your cinnamon rolls absolutely delicious. I think if you roll your cinnamon rolls on the long side instead of the short they won't be so big. I love everything you cook and share with us.
I am like you I don’t enjoy pie making , so I always use the boxed dough and it works! Specially now it is pie season, love your recipes I have made a few and they are always a hit with my boys and grandchildren!Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! We live near an amazing Amish community! One year they helped us move our home and one of the wives made me some homemade cinnamon rolls that I have been craving for years!
I wait for you videos every week. You have such a beautiful family and such a sweet Spirit! We will be traveling to Holmes County in October and you have well prepared us to hit all the highlights! These videos so make me wish I had been born and raised in Ohio...such a beautiful place!!! We are beyond excited for this trip...to the Ark, Creation Museum and then BERLIN!!! God bless you for taking the time to share your life with all of us!
LYNETTE LOVE THE COOKING VIDEOS!!! I REMEMBER WAY BACK WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED VIDEOS. YOU MADE COMMENTS LIKE I AM NOT REALLY A COOK, WELL YOU COME A LONG WAY WELL DONE!!!
I was 73 this year and I made my first homemade pie crust last year! It is never too late. Try it...very satisfying. It may take you several times before you succeed. The pandemic made me try things I had never done before. Obstacles make you better. God bless.
I just got the Hope’s Table cookbook from Amazon a couple of days ago! I know the first recipe I’m trying, the cinnamon rolls! Thanks for all the tips. I’m not good at dough and rolling so I’m excited to try this. Love love love your channel.
As always, thank you SO much for a lovely video. I actually hate to cook but you make it look so easy so I get encouraged by watching you cook. I am really thinking about the cookbook....I don't need it but it may boost my interest to try and become a better cook. My husband loves loves loves cinnamon rolls so I am going to try and make those. The recipe looks very similar to the one my grandmother used to make. I have even cut them with thread like you did. My grandmother called her frosting "goop" and made it like you did only she added a little bit of brewed black coffee and it really does add to the flavor. We always told my grandma to put on lots of "goop". Love following you!!!!
Thank you for recommending Hope’s Table cookbook. It really is a beautiful book and the recipes are so well illustrated with simple, easy instructions.
Love your videos.❤ I was inspired by the cinnamon rolls you made and I got a copy of Hope's Table cookbook! I love cookbooks and I found a copy through Goodwill. You have a lovely family. Have a blessed day.
I enjoy your videos I know we need to be cautious when preserving/canning I learned because I was a helper My aunts used family recipes And I like the Kitchenaid mixer too!
I’m fascinated on how the Amish and Mennonites can. Living in Ohio I’ve known that they water bath everything. My best friend lives in the heart of Amish country here in oh and she’s told me how they do it. Love this video so much ❤️. Would love to watch more of these
I always enjoy your cooking videos, Lynette. You make things look so effortless. The pie is beautiful and the dough for the cinnamon rolls looked like it would be easy to work with. Everything looked so good. Also I wanted to mention that we order our canning lids from Berlin Seed Company from there in Holmes County.
I love how you get brave and keep trying recipes! I've never seen canning process. You make it look easy and not so scary. I will have to give it a go! Your baby girl is getting soo big now- beautiful like her momma 😀
I’m from the finger lakes area of NY. Wine and Concord grape region. Concord grape pie is SO GOOD!! And pretty time consuming when using real concord grapes
I loved your video it's that time of the year when you want to cook and not so hot to turn on your oven. I love to can the satisfaction of your labor. Great job.
Lynette your little Miss Oaklyn is getting so big, and is the happiest little girl. She is absolutely adorable as are your son's. You have a lovely family. God bless you. Happy canning, it's always been one of my favorite things to do in summer 🙏🥰
I dont use a pressure cooker either. I've had a problem with getting lids. The new lids aren't what they used to be so I'm thankful that I keep my used lids! When I make chili I just make a big batch & freeze what we don't eat. We aren't big soup people🙂
@@jamiehoward3151 no I have never used a pressure cooker & haven't had problems with jars opening. But you have to know how long to cook them. It takes longer then pressure canning.
Thanks for a great video! My husband and I went to Holmes county last week for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We went to a few places that you have recommended in past videos. We LOVED The Farm at Walnut Creek! So much that we went twice! Stocked up on lots of goodies from Walnut Creek Cheese. Our favorite place for dinner was a little diner in Charm.
I enjoy your cooking videos so much, however, your home decor videos are just as enjoyable. I think it's great that you add your own touches to the recipes.
I love your cooking videos because you always seem like a pro, even though you say you aren’t! My children and husband ate my baked items so fast, I didn’t really have time to store them. I did have space on some basement shelves where my mother shared a lot of her items. Once opened, they went fast, too!
I am so sorry I have not been able to watch your last few videos but Charlie passed away in September . Thank you for always sharing your beautiful family and heritage with all of us and I pray God bless you for it.😊🙏😇
I’m in Scotland And I bought Hopes cookbook a few months ago, before I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes! Shame because the sweet things are delicious 🙁🏴
You could store some jars in any room with an AC-under your bed, at the back of any closet, including older children's closet. IDK how many you have, but if you have one who won't kick the jars accidentally, use part of their closet.
Great video! Your pie turned out very pretty! Those cinnamon rolls look so easy. I work in a library and I believe we have that cookbook in our collection, I really hope so! I love your background music so relaxing ❤️
I love Superb seal it right canning lids. They work better than ball lids. I have less siphoning with than ball lids. I have been using them on my channel's videos. i only wash the lids in soapy water.
Hi Lynette, I love to can, and am no expert, but the National Center for Home Food Preservation requires that any canned food involving meat must be pressure canned. Also, when water bath canning, the water is to be 1-2 inches over the tops of the jars. I hope this helps in any future canning. I just wouldn't want your family to get sick. I always enjoy your videos.
Hi Lynette, I really enjoyed watching that video, it makes me want to start baking. Only problem is , I live in England and it’s 1 o’clock in the morning. So I think I shall wait until the morning, but I must say when my children were smaller, late night , early hours of the morning, was my best time to do anything and I loved the peace and quite, knowing all were tucked up in bed and when they woke up the smell was heavenly for them. ( memories) . Keep safe me lovely and be lucky 💞💞💞
Yum! I’ve never heard of grape pie before but it looks so good! I got Hope’s cookbook from your recommendation last year and love it! Her Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken Thighs recipe and Citrus Grilled Chicken recipe are on repeat at our house in the summertime!
