The main competitor of the 11800H is the 5900HX. Why not test that? You also didn't look at this year's MAX-15, which has an improved architecture, etc. So why not get the MAX-15 11800H and the 5900HX with a 3070 or 3080? The only thing different between the intel and AMD models are the processor.

My current laptop has i7-4510u, 2C/4T 22nm CPU with 28nm GTX 850m lol and that laptop spits straight fire.
I'm planning to upgrade soon, and I might actually buy a 11800H laptop.
      1. PCIe 4.0 SSD for futureproofing
      2. Undervolting for better battery life and to prolong the already impressive lifespan of the CPU
It's worse in certain tasks than 5800H, but most of the time we won't notice the difference, let's face it.

And I think it's also clear that Intel finally moving to a 10nm process has been a major gain for them as they've finally been able to gap close Ryzen in other places. Though it's simple physics, 7nm is just going to be more efficient. Hi there! Great video, helped me get a feel for both cores working power. Have you considered adding Total Warhammer to the games you benchmark on? I would consider it due to how many entities it needs to load in both modes of the game and whatnot. Cheers

It feels so strange to see Intel back on top in mobile just from going to 10nm. I still feel like AMD has a lot more to offer, but imagine Intel vs AMD with the same transistor size in the future. This might really mean that AMD is still behind Intel in IPC, but the efficiency of the silicon narrowed the gap until now.

10nm (intel) and 7nm (tsmc) are basically on par.

Syzerix said it. The TSMC process node "size" is not comparable to Intel's old naming system. There are a lot of people who do not know this so Intel is changing the naming system in the future so Intel's old 10nm becomes 7I and that is roughly same as TSMC's 7N and Samsung's 7nm in silicon density.

AMD will have no answer until their Zen 4 mobile chips arrive in Q1 2023 at the earliest. Alder Lake mobile is launching in Q1 2022.

@@PatGeek37 with the current chip shortage? nahhh I bet, it wouln't. Anyway, i've seen u spamming the same comments... a die-hard fan of a monopoly who controled cpu prices for decades lol

@@ryanjaredguicosioson2591 I don't think the chip shortage gonna do anything towards Intel by 2022 and they both basically monopolies given the chance since you full on have like two choices Amd or Intel
If anything amd and Intel are helping each other from getting in trouble for being in a real monopoly
You can see this with the 86x/64x licensing

heard you're Australian, so why don't you please provide links where to buy those XMG laptops in Oz? Thanks

That's the problem with AMD, they keep up with 2D applications quite all right but gaming is where the difference is simply too big. And I want a laptop that is good for both 2D and 3D applications at once. I mean for as expensive as a decent laptop is, that's the least they could provide. Right now 10-20fps (the gap is bigger usually, up to even 40-50fps) might seem like nothing when you get >60fps on both setups but what in 2-3 years? It's gonna be 30fps vs 50fps for latest games and that is a major difference and then to the point where you can't run latest games vs playable at 30-40fps. So you end up buying another laptop sooner, in the long run you're not saving shit. Either AMD finally fully catch up or people just keep going for Intel. No one cares about a few bucks difference when they buy a laptop for a few years that will simply last longer. Also no one cares about battery life to that extent, you can't get full performance without power supply, anyway. And extra 1 hour if you already get >5h is simply redundant. If someone needs that 1 extra hour, that means he needs other laptop type instead of a gaming laptop. AMD wins the battles that don't matter for end user. People want performance, not minor advantages paid in lower performance currency. I like that AMD is making Intel sweat and they have to push faster and further but let's not get excited, they are nowhere near winning, they are closing the gap. Which is being a loser, only slightly less. Also Intel for sure have like 1-2 gens ahead ready to release, just waiting for the moment when they have to release, if they keep being even slightly ahead, there is no point releasing another gen.

Honestly I would still go AMD. I feel they deserve the love since they’re pushing Intel to actually compete with them. Plus since so many laptops have 1440p as a standard resolution you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference in performance. I just don’t want to see AMD fall behind again since people just default to Intel.

Are you planning on doing a comparison of the XMG Neo 15 Ryzen 9 5900HX and whatever the Intel equivalent of that is (guess who's on Team Red)?
