Game changer when you discovered issue with arm hitting frame while reach for sink. LOVED, the quick switcheroo of the cabinet frames. Got to love the versatility of 80/20. You are an awesome teacher.. I am a 67 yo female who appreciates your easy to understand videos. You make me laugh and smile. Thank you!
Seven! I absolutely LOVE your videos. You bring joy, intellect, creativity, fun, tenacity, humor, and mad skills to the party every single time. #THANKYOU!
Great video! At this speed I should be done in about 3 years. So funny! I'm building my first van and it is taking so much longer than I thought it would. I have two videos up but they are so bad. Need to make a new one. I'm much further in my project and totally dream about it. literally spend hours thinking about how to fit something. I really like a lot of your ideas!
Glad to see you noticed the elbow-banger next to the sink... you might want to raise your fridge up to the top of the cabinet to give you some relief from kneeling to get things out... you could also rotate it 90 degrees so you could access the lower section from the outside ... at 63 yrs old I would probably mount it in an upper cabinet!!! Keep up the great videos with all the details...
Bro, I am an experienced cabinet maker and have seen all kinds of skill levels over the years. What you have learned and produced in this short period of time and of course you're materials and tool knowledge is totally amazing! Brilliant and well done!! I can't wait to see your next project!! Keep it up, you're going places. (Pun intended) :)
I would use a waterproof material for the back of the galley and then turn the kitchen sink faucet around and use it like an outdoor shower head. I know you have an indoor shower but this would be good for quick things like washing hair. If I ever make one, I'd probably just have the outdoor shower and use the shower space for something else inside.
Oooh good tip on the sink placement, good you can rearrange it now. Im commenting at 2:45 min into video because this is when the AD came on. They like the amount of viewers you are reaching 😉 Ok now back to the video..
If you use the best materials, the best tools, you will likely get amazing results. It’s kind of like making an amazing cocktail, if you use the best ingredients, you will get amazing results.
Excellent video and very very helpful for us who sit and dream of copying you one day .....BUT, a quick question or suggestion....on the back support of the forward facing two draws, the thin angle bracket holding the back of the draw...imho, and from an engineering background....I suggest you make a thicker bracket that can help in holding the weight of whatever you are storing in those draws. The downward force are imho too great for the small bracket. Simply make the same thing with more material in the vertical plane as it were. This way it'll be able to handle larger items without risking deforming or bending that bracket. Just a suggestion.....otherwise a fantastic video as usual.....can't wait to see it finished.
I ran those Blum slides (Purchased Apple Ply and Slides MT Storm which were ok for a while, after traveling cross country and back, i removed them because these were constantly going out of adjustment. In a van? But in a home.. Perfect
good video man, a helpful tip to save buying a router for the bases of the drawers is that you use the track saw to cut out a groove for the base, then cut your drawer pieces to dimensions. it's easier to do it in one big piece, then to cut the smaller ones compared to how you've shown in the video
Dude! Applause for your application of aluminum extrusion. Strong, lighter-weight, aircraft standards. No fault in deviating from aluminum / or kevlar honeycomb panels (you said How Much, a square foot?!!). Just wanted to ask, is the butcher/block to sink joint a problem? ( I was thinking that joint would "wick" fluids out, over the edges of the sink... ) - capillary action - and could delaminate the maple. (?)
👍🏼 Great video! Thank you for sharing your build process. I plan to use 80/20 for my build but have never used it so it really helps seeing all the possibilities with it. Can’t wait for your next video!
I’m doing up exactly the same Sprinter. I wish I could just pull mine alongside yours and we could work together. You have tons of space and great weather by the looks of it. I have so many skills from working in the building trade for years and you are such an adept learner. I’m impressed by how quick you learn and your enthusiasm is encouraging. Each stage I’m never 100% sure about what I’m going to do but after doing it I’m so much more confident and was wondering why I was worried in the first place. Here in the uk we seem to have difficulty in getting the same materials as you. Maple ply is not available as far as I know and we seem to just have the Birch. Single seats for a 2018 model are like hens teeth and the 80/20 is very, very expensive. I’ve never seen anyone in the uk use 80/20. Please let me know if anyone has seen this being used. When I’m working on my van, very slowly I can never see the end
Looking great Seven. Really looking forward to the battery/electrical video as I am very curious if you will do the same thing as in the first van and hopefully avoid some of the problems you had there.
to cut the baseboard to fit your sink, turn your sink upside down exactly over where you want it, trace around the edge, then mark about 1/2 inch inside your trace and cut. Make adjustments if needed.
Be careful with stains on the composit sink. I have one that colour in my house and it stains SOOOO easy. Lovely material though. A darker colour would be better in my opinion. Awesome video BTW. Loving it!
Awesome video, just in time for us! I’ve been building our kitchen unit out of aluminium extrusions and have been wondering about how to do the drawers.
Loving the content! Currently doing a Camper conversion ourselves, here in London. Using 80/20 too, it works great. Would be good to connect, I'd be happy to share my CAD plans with you, its quite an ambitious project, you may find it interesting. Thanks for the great content, Subscribed, liked and bell notified! Lol best of luck, Sam & Molly
absolutely great biuld so far, learned so much, cause I'm having a skeleton for my JKU (so much smaller but challenging. like ans subscribed ;-) Greetings from over the pond (Germany)
Great video. I have a question about your 80/20. Are you using the 15 series? I think you could use the 10 series and save a little $ and space. Do you think 10 series is strong enough?
I have the same question. I am much more interested in weight savings (I'll have a motorcycle on the hitch) than I am sturdiness that could survive the end of days.
Another great video, thank you. I may have missed it, but could you tell which profile you used for the galley build. What would be your opinion on using the 200mm profile? Would it be rigid enough? Thanks.
Great vids! Thanks so much!! Can you tell us the width of your galley? I know the fridge is 19.4" deep. We will most likely get the same one. But we are also adding a wet bath in our 170 and it's a 24 inch deep pan. So after the 80/20, we're looking at a narrow hallway. I was wondering what your galley's width is and how many inches is it from it to the other side of your walkway. Thank you!
I want to get a wheelchair pull out ramp that can be then slid back under the flooring. Any ideas. My single bed will go rear to front and the wheelchair will load in the rear doors Sitting next to the bed. I can ambulate so I don’t need a full lift. Any ideas. Power truck lifts are 2 plus and a basic 8 foot aluminum ramp is 200. Love your work!
Do you think the horizontal piece at the bottom of sink satchel is necessary? It seems like the vertical piece would be strong enough. I'm surprised you didn't have the drawer faces overlap the extrusion more on the sides. I'm curious to see how you have the facing work on the edge of the 80/20 nearest the van door alongside the double drawer. You could have the drawer faces come all the way over the edge of the cabinet rear panel. If you find those double drawers don't hold weight enough, you can always get 8-32 tnuts and then use #8-32 X 1-1/2" truss head machine screws to attach the slides to cross pieces of extrusion. It won't interfere with the slides.
I could not extend the faces because they would become incompatible with the latches I’m using (next video). Good idea on the drawers although they will hold more than enough weight with current mounts
The granite sink WILL crack. I have already been through it. We replaced 6 of them before the manufacturer told us that vibration and movement of any kind will cause it to debond over time. They said they lose 30% in shipping alone.
I noticed that in the beginning there was a flat bar above the fridge at the countertop level, but at the end once you put that drawer in, the flat bar is removed. Did you ever put that back in? Doesn't look like there is any room. Why was it there in the first place? Thanks!
Hey erman it’s funny I remember that happening but can’t remember exactly why. I think I ended up pulling the sink more forward or something similarly unexciting
when you're cutting a slot with a router you don't use the flat fence. You should run the curved side of the router base against a straight guide. That way if you accidentally twist the router it won't make your slot wander. Use the straight fence for edge rebates/rabbets.
2nd Looks like finished maple plywood. Seven are you an engineer? I would like to hire you. I'm in Rhode Island. Haven't retired. When I do I'll be getting a van.
When you installed the fridge did you have to drill the fridge holes? I have the same unit and when I pulled the interior white caps the holes are sealed.
Did you try flipping those L-shaped flanges over (the ones to support the sink on each side) and using T-slot fasteners? That arrangement of 8020 pieces on each side (to hold the flanges) seems like a huge waste of time and money. Believe me, that 8020 stuff is more than capable of holding the weight without building that substructure.
Dang, do you always just choose the most expensive product you can find? How are you financing this project? Just saying what a lot of other people must be thinking. You do really nice work but seriously, the price is through the roof!

"solid exponential growth on drawer output" 😂 My dad is an engineer and you remind me of him so much. Amazing build!!!!
Very good attention to detail and hardware fixtures.
Seven! I absolutely LOVE your videos. You bring joy, intellect, creativity, fun, tenacity, humor, and mad skills to the party every single time.

over the top perfectionism . love it.

So gald you swapped the sink over to that side. 100% improvement!!!
As always, a delight to watch your fine craftmanship and good humor.

Interested to see the sink drain. Good Job!
Good point.... Where's it going?

Damn this is a 80-90k van build. Wild
Surprise surprise the chosen sink is the most expensive.... love this build, you are hilarious 😊
The msple looks great in contrast to the color of the van. Nice work!

It looks great I want to see the finish cabinet
Nicely done! Your videos are really helping us out with our build. Thanks!

Thats what I thought too.. depends what he stores in them, but yeah looked way too small.
Van is looking sooo good
can't wait to see how you attach your sink to the water and grey tank. since you moved it.
Well done and it looks perfect so far.
Awesome project, and im impressed of your craftsmanship

I’m curious to see the Sink Drain plumbing now🤔
Looking great Seven. Really looking forward to the battery/electrical video as I am very curious if you will do the same thing as in the first van and hopefully avoid some of the problems you had there.
I love the channel! I live in Healdsburg also. I just bought a 2020 170 4x4 crew that I’m converting. Probably see you around sometime
Pretty crazy! Would be awesome to link up once the builds are done

“It would be pretty much irresponsible to [put that in a van]” in re the sink KILLED me. I laughed so long I had to rewind to catch back up.
No toe kick? Perhaps the units could be elevated off the floor to provide the clearance ...
Absolutely, you need space for the toes!!! It's a must or your back will feel it!!
"A really small bolt" ...What is the bolt size you used to mount the fridge to the 80/20? Installing the same fridge soon. Thanks for all the content!
Aye you heard me screaming noooooo put the sink by the door more under storage easy access
Looks good bro
Look at all that space behind the sink. 👀
If the faucet would be in a corner, you'd have a nice storage spot for outdoor access when the door is open.
Be careful with stains on the composit sink. I have one that colour in my house and it stains SOOOO easy. Lovely material though. A darker colour would be better in my opinion.

Fantastic job!!!!
Excellent! So inspiring.
Sink...Where does the water go in and out? Love the videos. Looking forward to seeing end product.
Awesome video, just in time for us! I’ve been building our kitchen unit out of aluminium extrusions and have been wondering about how to do the drawers.
The fridge comes with whiskey storage at the top!

A cup of tea, a snowy afternoon and Seven O Savage. What could be better?
I learn a lot from this channel but it's basically DIY if you could afford a brand new profession.
Van coming along nicely!. Sidenote : Shorts and T in Jan?!
Cali 😎
Good quality build👍🏼
great job

I have the same question. I am much more interested in weight savings (I'll have a motorcycle on the hitch) than I am sturdiness that could survive the end of days.
@@BradGroux I've seen other van builds using the 10 series with no issue. That's what I intend to do. I think 15 series is overkill
@@danielouellette5952 Thanks for the heads up! 10-Series is 52% lighter, so it seems like a no-brainer.
Hi guys, in terms of length. I know it depends of the built but how much you think I would need in a built like this?
You could also go with the double height 10 series if you really needed more rigidity in a section.
Another great video, thank you. I may have missed it, but could you tell which profile you used for the galley build. What would be your opinion on using the 200mm profile? Would it be rigid enough? Thanks.

Hmm good questions. Would you need a layout that you can wheel the length of while you’re in the van?

Well done, I value your workmanship!
How do you plan to route your grey water hose?
What do you plan on doing with the unsupported part that’s hanging over the step?
I’m the process in convert my van,I wonder how much those aluminum skeleton framing cost?
The granite sink WILL crack. I have already been through it. We replaced 6 of them before the manufacturer told us that vibration and movement of any kind will cause it to debond over time. They said they lose 30% in shipping alone.
Hasn’t cracked yet!
Beautiful Work may man! Are you sure you don't want a toe kick on the galley area?.. you appear to have big feet at 6'5!
Do you know the exact measurements you used to be able to have the fridge flush with the drawers and still be able to open the fridge door?
Specs for the galley: how much walking space do you have to get into the slider?
I noticed that in the beginning there was a flat bar above the fridge at the countertop level, but at the end once you put that drawer in, the flat bar is removed. Did you ever put that back in? Doesn't look like there is any room. Why was it there in the first place? Thanks!

Looks like finished maple plywood. Seven are you an engineer? I would like to hire you. I'm in Rhode Island. Haven't retired. When I do I'll be getting a van.
Maybe dumb question... do you have room for sink drain with trash can and drawers? Looks awesome by the way.
Yes, just enough room
Do you have a link or model number for the narrow locking devices? I’ve searched Amazon but I don’t see the smaller ones.
Okay, perhaps a dumb question but do you glue the drawer bottom into the dado cut?
I did on some and then I got lazy. It works well either way
great video...just one favour, could you display the sizes in metric as well as feet and inches ? cheers 🤓
Wait a minutes, don't you have your own awesome van build?
When you installed the fridge did you have to drill the fridge holes? I have the same unit and when I pulled the interior white caps the holes are sealed.
Yes
If one needs two drawers of the same size, make one completely closed box, that's double the depth, and rip it in half. Two drawers!
We subscribed and belled....where do you recommend getting the 80/20?
Nice! I recommend amazon. I have some links to what I used but they have everything + good shipping times
Great! Next: Autocad and post the drawings!!!!
Yeah, you want your sink in front of the door anyway. Best place to have it for future outdoor showers and just hosing off muck outside of your van.
What is the total height of your galley? Looks great.
Oh good question it’s going to be 38” tall after countertop
What are the hinges you used for the in front of sink storage?
Just added them to video description under "sink tray hinge"
What happened to the shower?
Awesome! How much did the 80/20 cost in total with this build?
I'd love to know the build cost with the 80/20.
I think in the comments of the previous video he said about $2500.
Looks to me like using aluminum doesn't allow for the units to stick out further from the wall
Did you try flipping those L-shaped flanges over (the ones to support the sink on each side) and using T-slot fasteners? That arrangement of 8020 pieces on each side (to hold the flanges) seems like a huge waste of time and money. Everything nice but for what you need the mask?
If you can just add a comment about the strength of the 80/20 sizes.
Man's a millionaire....most expensive everything.
Dang, do you always just choose the most expensive product you can find? How are you financing this project? Just saying what a lot of other people must be thinking. You do really nice work but seriously, the price is through the roof!
Y a so big trash can?
Zombie Apoc van? So it's safe from a EMP? If not you have one major problem.
Very nice , but the beauty of 80/20 is less and you are over building with it. That sink is way overbuilt.
