      I heard they removed freeze resistance from the feather cape and made it weak against fire too. They could at least increase inventory space and carry weight.

      @@SiriusSphynxit is still resistant to frost but weak to fire. However you get a +20% jump height buff and -20% jump stamina usage

    An improvable Wisplight would do wonders to make Mistlands more enjoyable overall, even if it were just a single tier that doubled the clear effect.

    Really want to see expandable backpack storage already in the game. Also why is armor taking spots of backpack space when IM WEARING IT!!!!!!!

    • @nokturnallex2160
      @nokturnallex2160 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yea they really should put some of the most used mods into the base game already. The backpack expander, the bigger workbench radius (just make it a vanilla adjustable option) and the ability for the furnaces, windmills and kilns to pull from nearby chests. Restocking those is just so tedious in the base game.

    • @clyden2678

      Maybe the next biom, the Deepnorth will have a magic item effect where you could either increase your food consumption by 1 more food item to 4 total.... OR.... somthing different that would allow for more storage slots but not weight increase..... HOWever they could be mutually exclusive so.... you'd "wear" one for exploring and fighting and another for resource gathering......!!!??? thoughts?

    • @ringofasho7721
      @ringofasho7721 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ditto. I'd also like to see a new slot for "base armor" (basically exchangable undershirts) they'd give no armor points but instead they'd give extra pierce or blunt protection. Maybe have 5 or 6 different ones ( one for pierce, eitr regen, blunt, slash, etc)

    My problem is still the same; If you start a new playthrough, a lot of play styles, weapon types and armor types are very late game. We really need low level crafting magic, two handed swords, crossbows and so on, ashlands is just one biome before the last one.

    If you look for base in ashlands, bring a lot of stone and wood with you and suffer going araund its coast (you gona kill a lot of seperents). You gota find dweger village as you can get early flamemetal to upgrade your gear and when you land you can use dwarf help to kill them. Then start raising ground in circle near the dwermer base and place portal in middle and add the beacon to protect from fire damage.
    After this raise ground again in circle so your portal will not get koed by fire slimes. This is bare minimum defense.
    I play with no portal allowed mode and its fucking hell.

    The new axes can not replace knives. I tried to make them work but as soon as you run into some high level mobs they become useless. You can't parry, you can't dodge because you get stuck in the attack animation for too long, and you can't stagger especially after the nerf. I feel like you are forced to use magic or ranged weapons. This is my main gripe with ashlands.
    Other than that ,I really enjoyed the update, the journey to ashlands, the number and the relentlessness of the enemies was very fun and challenging, i hope they don't nerf it too much.

    • @NickRawcliffe
      @NickRawcliffe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn't claim they would replace them but they are however new dps weapons which overall is good. I agree with what you're saying for the most part however specifically fighting the new mini boss the green axes were insanely good so I think they have their uses and overall it's good they're expanding the arsenal for other play styles. Having to nonstop jump climb that horrible landscape to get anywhere, with the stamina system they have, is such a bad experience.
      Then there's the mist. Making visibility a difficult level is so bad. Would'nt mind the mist as much, if it was like the rain, arriving once in a while. But as a permenant thing it's just terrible.
      At least thats what everyone i know have to say about it. Always comes down to the bad terrain and too heavy permenant mist, thats the turnoff.

    That's something no one really talks about that still makes me feel unsatisfied : the berserker axes dmg and stamina usage are based on your axe level, but majority of player don't rank up this skill in early game, as they are better weapons, and axe is used more as a tool. So we can't take appreciation on how good the axes are if you don't have skill on them.

    The boiling mechanic IS a big deal. Try to recover a floating tombstone without getting into the water. Can't be done if there is no land (no - spire won't work) right next to it. Going into the water, recovering your tombstone, and back into the boat without dieing again can become impossible due to obstacles. Irongate should fix this by allowing you to set your spawn point to the new boat.

    People are sleeping on magic? First off, every staff is great, especially the new Ashland ones. The Fireball staff from Mistlands still works on these Fire guys, you'd assume it doesn't, but it does, it can aoe kill those regular Charred guys and Archers in 2 Fireballs. Dead Raiser + Protection staff combo, so you can summon the skels, put an AoE shield on them then just let them be a distraction for you while you go full offense. I won't spoil the Ashland ones but the new Blood Magic one makes a hilariously great distraction and all the Elemental ones are amazing.

    How is progression inside the Ashlands? This was my biggest issue with mistlands. Essentially throughout 90% of mistlands you used plains/mountain gear. You cleared everything with it and only at the very, very, very end, by the time you had already 20 sealbreakers, you finally had enough cores to build the crafting structures of mistlands. This was in my opinion by far the biggest problem of mistlands. By the time you get the feather cape which makes travel through the mistlands actually enjoiyable, you already completed the whole of mistlands and now it is even useless in the ashlands. This is kinda a huge flaw in progression. I hope this isn't the case with ashlands item progression.

    • @likeWeird
      @likeWeird 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Problem is it isn't fun traversing. Jumping between rocks being wet constantly need to regen stamina all the time. It's just a bit too annoying, if the terrain was a little less aggressive, the wisp cleared a bit more, and infested mines stood out a bit more it would be fine. I think you were being far to optimistic here. Valheim is shockingly low on build shape options and the number of new build shapes are ABYSMAL.
    Please, how can you seriously say with a straight face that the building options are good? 1x1 nonexistent, 2x2x1 nonexistent, 2x2x2 nonexistent, 4x floor piece nonexistent,
    no large pillars no small pillars. The only floor tiles are only half they thickness meaning you have to stack PILES of tiles to achieve things close to marble. You said you didn't
    build much and it kind of shows. The wall pieces don't help because they are thin so stacking them does no good as attacks against them are AoE. Watch it fall like dominoes
    to the massive overpowered, flying, magic casting, troll called a fallen Valkyrie.
    Take a troll with all the damage of a tree and a caster, make it all magic, make it aoe, make it do huge damage against structures and give it wings. Did we have to go from
    hard to fing dark souls?
    Oh and it's pretty good with mobs? It's like charging the beaches of Normandy as you try to maneuver a massive ship through spikes as a new leviathan tears into you and
    expect the ship to be a complete throw away and a one way trip. The beach is masses of skeletons, diving vultures, fire blobs and ranged characters. By sheer luck I established
    a beach head but then on out it's not fun. It's an endless slog of never ending spawning monsters and even being careful it's mob after mob. Getting ore is an absolute headache.
    I reiterate my point. Why does everyone that wants to make a game hard feel it has to be balls to the walls dark souls? A new zone with new monsters offers a challenge already
    without the need to escalate it to extreme proportions. If you like a hardcore game then be like other devs and make it a setting but stop pandering to the small demographic
    of people that don't feel a game is worth it unless it's extreme. Ashlands is barely playable and I think they are going to pretty much break the game in the last zone because it's all
    about escalation.

    As a solo player, I set "no build cost" in order to make the barges (yes plural and i refuse to call it a boat). My first attempt i died to vultures fairly quickly. I set "passive mode" to get to the tombstone and died to the hot water swimming back to the barge's ladder. Third attempt I got back to the barge (there were 3 and I had to hop between them because they blocked each other). I was able to get to shore and put up a portal (thanks to "passive" mode). It takes about 10 minutes to maneuver the barge through the maze and get to a shore with "passive" on (it will be a little faster if you know where the shore is). Hint: only use the paddle except when initially getting the barge to move; don't go too fast.

    I agree that the mist is a bad mechanic! It's supposed to be a video game, not an audio game. I have to turn the sound on for that, and I don't like it.

    While watching several streams trying the ashlands for their first time my hot take was, "ok so that's it? Thats all there is to explore here? Where are the rest of the dungeon varieties?" Combine that with the severely limited amount of ashlands land mass, compared to the square meters of plains and mistlands landmass respectively, well the new update doesn't inspire much replayability once you've seen it all.
    So perhaps give much more square meters of landmass to the ashlands to warrant desolate exploration, while ramping up the number of cave dungeons.
    I love building and grinding for raw resources. That's my play style.
    I foresee a lack of raw resources in the ashlands to be blunt.

    ashlands introduction and the expectations placed on the player is just wrong, this is valheim not elden ring. introducing monsters that are so high defence and can kill you so easily is not really fun gameplay, having to enter the biome over 6 times, each time building a new boat is not fun, how the hell is the average player coming out of the mistlands supposed to fight or survive in ashlands? each time i teleport over, theres a different 1-3 monsters attacking my base, in the boiling hot water, skeleletons that are flaming are straight up walking thru water no problem, yet the only defence protection i get the dverger get damaged in the water, hell even the vultures do,
    the defences on the boat is high yes, but when u run into a bone maw every 10 feet and have 3 on you by the time u get to shore, yeah i kinda wanna say things can seem impossible.
    this ashlands patch is just piss poor. im not enjoying myself and i feel forced af to play becuase i got my friends into it. overall 2/10 expierence, gameplay and fun.
    i spend alot of time fighting off monsters or going to save teammates, its not fun. theres so many monster spawns, so many, its kinda of a joke how many can spawn in and attack u when u start trying to fight back. also dont get hit, youll lose over half of the hp bar, when the enemy can drop that much dps, we need food items that can heal that much just as fast, not implementing enough resources or counters to all the monsters u added in ashlands, the demolisher is litterally a death sentence in ashlands, its so damn loud whenever i attack it calls every single enemy to my location in a mile radius around my attack, also the fact the 2 handed weapon, designed to be extremely heavy and slow and punishes u for weilding it while running uses so much stamina to swing, i get that its a big2 handed hammer, but the fact is im a viking, im designed to be able to weild this sort of thing,
    way too much unthought of piss poor mechanics too, why the morgen doesnt die in the boiling hot water idk , but if u build offshore on a spire watch out, cuz the morgen can destroy pillars.
    everything about ashlands is a huge waste of time

      No, I think they have a direct direction; they just have ideas about the game that differ from the fan base the enjoys the game.

    Ashlands feels bland and flat, no elevation, no mountains, just a depressing greyish colour palette.. a lot of similar mobs with a few out standers here and there. It just feels like a filler biome as a preparation for the Deep North - the real end-game. I expected so much more after such a long time in development. New weapons do not feel unique to me, new magic weapons seem almost useless. Ember and Frost staves are still the way to go. Ashlands isnt difficult at all if you dont run around like mad pulling everything. Fortresses are far away from what I thought they were describing... just ram the door, kill the spam of monsters, loot the chest, nothing really that interesting... I dont know, I am sad it went this way and only hope the MODs will make up for this by keeping the game alive for the next 2 years... tbh, I feel like Mistlands felt more dangerous and mysterious and at the end of the day more fun to play than Ashlands where everything just looks and feels the same.
