This is a sad but true status in today's scenario. In a similar incident three years ago, i had a school friend of mine (9th standard) who went 2 a very branded beauty salon in bangalore on the occassion of Karnataka rajyotsva (November 1) and she discovered that all the regional languages (whether in songs and speaking of it) were banned in branded salons.
My wife (still young)wears saree in usa for the past 20years and going to work as a high school teacher. In fact she was hired for wearing the saree and told by the school principal that she has to come school in the same outfit as if she was coming to the interview. USA people love saree. Many people also bought saree from my wife for them to wear. Very dignified outfit. All high school students behave well in the class because if her outfit saree. No offenses to ladies if they r not wearing saree in usa.
Saree is considered to be a formal and proper dress code in my region. My mom wears a saree to her work on formal occasions. That's beyond ridiculous for this woman to call saree inappropriate. It's the most beautiful attire and every woman who wears a saree looks beautiful in it. It's our pride and our culture. 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Whenever some international avenues are launched here, they must be made to aware that their operation on our land shouldn't humiliate our values and culture. An undertaking taking to this effect has to be made before they start, should they run their operation in our country. In the pretext of modernization, we are forced to forget our culture values.
Actually. They are keen to know more and celebrate our culture than we are. They are more keen on imbibing our values, and we, on the other hand are embracing theirs.

I have visited India from the US. I went to Mysore and bought beautiful burgundy silk with gold trim and had a saree made. That’s how much I love Indian traditional dress. It is to me the most beautiful feminine way to dress! 💕🤗
I don't get why, people still says "modern dress" when it comes to western dresses. I mean, the term modern can be applied to our Indian outfits too. Modern mainly mean "new" and we have so many new style/design that deserve to be consider modern. Not just western dresses because they also have their own traditional outfits etc. Why don't we simply say "indian dresses" "European dresses" etc. And the fact that, there are places where indian outfits are considered "inappropriate" is revolting ! Especially, when you know that even in western countries they don't mind you wearing one (lol even in a museum they don't say anything)
Because not all of them are from Europe and you can't say name every outfit based on their origin I guess calling it western is better and I agree the modern mixes of traditional dresses are considered modern too .
@@tejasvitikoo2643 yes I understand what you mean. And for the "european dresses" I didn't mean that all the outfits came from Europe. That just was an example, it could have been any other outfits.
Because these brainless people can not distinguish between what is appropriate & inappropriate. In a village, we called them Ultra-modern people who don't know anything about our own culture & do not respect them.
I like how everyone reacts positively in the end . It only happen on screen and in books. In real if the lady ventured to go say sorry to cafe people she would have been bashed with vulgar language.
Same discrimination happens when any lady is wearing hijab and following her culture voluntarily but still some people and organisations have problem with that hijab outfit and they demean that person and not allow her to enter some places. Even as a whiter than milk American Hindu, I am shocked at even the possibility that a proud Indian woman would be prevented from wearing traditional dress in a cafe in India. Thank you for making this video.
It's good to see the culture being upheld. Sad to see, though, that every dialogue/sentence has more than 50% English interwoven (and not just this video, but it's the story everywhere- even Hindi newspapers nowadays have English words written in Devanagari script, in the name of Hindi publication). All I am saying is about trying to speak our native languages (Hindi or any other) 'properly', it will also be respect to our own culture, else the language will surely die away soon. Someone might say, what I have written is also in English, but what I am saying is, that there is more English in us now, and not just in clothes, so let's see if we can save our language from dying by at least trying to speak it in better and pure way; it will be good. This won't solve the entire issue, but as long as we speak right, we will keep it alive. Speak or wear anything, but just an extension to the message which this video is passing.

Oh Yes…, the way they treated her was disgusting and if it’s an international cafe, then Indian dresses should be allowed especially since Indian Culture is highly esteemed in many parts of the world. So it is strange to see how it wouldn’t be in the very land of it’s origin. But the ironic thing in all of this is that there is mention of India being slaves to the British yet if that woman visited any cafe in the UK today in a sari, nobody would say anything.

I have faced a hilarious situation since I love wearing saree I'm considered backward and not fashion updated .....and I laugh at their stupidity .....
Such an educational and awakening video. I remember my teachers chiding me for wearing mehndi to school. People mistake this regressive thought process for progressive and modern thinking. "We Indians are mistaking modern for Western" said Sadhguru in one of his interviews. He put it very accurately. Being modern doesn't mean abandoning the culture in which we were brought up but it means to represent it proudly. Giving up on one's ethnicity means losing one's existance.
All young people are thinking that India culture is crap including me because of western influence. We need to feel proud of being Indian and having such a rich culture.
Moreover it becomes extremist unnecessarily... there is no coercion to wear saree else the Govt will intervene and make a mandate. The general logic is saree is not inappropriate but nor a compulsion too.
There's another side to this issue. Some news sources report that the customer was misbehaving with the staff that's why she was asked to leave. The whole saree angle was made-up to get social media on her side.
Modern people says everyone has freedom to wear what they want then why these people discriminate those whoe wear sarees, burq and veils... We r wearing it by our choice so no one has right to stop us.
Burkha is imposed one and just a tent ,not dress nd its neither Indian nor south east Asian...it's from miles away tribal dessert cult who didn't know what to drink how to wash....

Police officers and politicians wear them too on official duty. Some leaders in othet countries purposely speak their mother tounge in international forum to show nationalism although they are fluent in English. PM Modi did this too in his speech at UN GA.
Absolutely right. Men and women both have right to wear whatever they want .this is not good. Even in some places modern dress are not allowed

Some of my "good friends" kicked me out our group cuz of my traditional style but my actual best childhood friends supported me
My wife (still young)wears saree in usa for the past 20years and going to work as a high school teacher.
The ending is beautiful, inspite of any challenges we face let's learn to forgive, learnt a lesson and move on, at the end of the day we are just human with mistakes, so let correct one anothers to live a beautiful society.

@@wishmastersannah177 yea I just meant it would be a lot of effort to start saying it based on origin lmao too much unnecessary information XD
Because these brainless people can not distinguish between what is appropriate & inappropriate. In a village, we called them Ultra-modern people who don't know anything about our own culture & do not respect them.
Absolutely
I like how everyone reacts positively in the end . It only happen on screen and in books. In real if the lady ventured to go say sorry to cafe people she would have been bashed with vulgar language.
Same discrimination happens when any lady is wearing hijab and following her culture voluntarily but still some people and organisations have problem with that hijab outfit and they demean that person and not allow her to enter some places. Even I faced such situation while entering an examination centre.
Unfortunately some people don't know the difference between culture and oppression. It depends what pigeon in a cage think. When pigeon thinks cage is not for its protection rather it is to make its owner feel secure and enjoy that's called Maturity and you are living a free life.
Hijab is not culture.

Absolutely right. We have to follow our traditions these are the roots of us. They tell who we are. Proud to be Hindustani 🇮🇳
Thank You for raising this issue. We are with you.
आपने बिल्कुल सही कहा।

To teach them a lesson, and they are talented employees they can work anywhere, there are thousands of cafe in India

Do you know why mehendi wasnt allowed in school ?
