Definitely a great drummer and a really nice guy. I met once at the Professional Percussion Center it was on 8th Avenue and 50th Street. I talked to him about drums and music for almost an hour. He gave a pair of his drumsticks. I miss the Percussion Center all the drummers would come into that store it was a hangout.
It is Delfeayo Marsalis. Elvin is on a Wynton Marsalis record "Thick In The South". Marsalis is New Orleans. That shows that Elvin was able to bring together many different players from different places in the Jazz Machine.
