ahh memories, I was a nurse at fazakerley hospital in the 80s, and lived on Rice Lane, so used to get this train all the time, now am a nurse in the usa.
shame i didnt get to ride these back then and didnt know about the northern lines i would of got to hear the sound the old lines made before network rail fixed them and made them smooth ahhh missed out but now i just go on any train to places i got to ride the old merseyrail trains sometimes i think round the year 2000s
Wouldn’t be surprised around Kirkby way if you saw a jump attached to the live rail which fed to an adhoc power converter keeping someone in free electricity for life … but saying that probably ain’t too many around bright enough to engineer such a setup lol…
It’s a shame the quality of the video and so many interesting points of conversation lost but it’s the nature of the beast of some videos but a very interesting post anyway 😊
can you reupload the other train ride videos please the west kirby to new brightion and hunts cross to southport am sure it was you that uploaded them but cant find them anymore

The much missed inspector Stuart Mason is the informative BR man on this video, now has a merseyrail unit named after him
Does it say Stuart Mason or ‘Crem’ - for those back in the day 😉
memories of driving them back then, sure miss it today.
Quality. Not used that train for over 15 years since I left Kirkby........but so many memories!!
Some of the oldest trains on the UK network, but the Merseyrail trains, works like clockwork...most of the time, anyway!
The isle of Wight is the oldest at 82 years old, 1938 underground tube stock cascaded, its due to be replaced by London D tube stock.
I was 15... looks exactly the same except Sandhills has been tarted up
kevin williams kirkdale has also been refurbished.
