My Fromsoft journey began with Dark Souls 3, I heard of the challenge from my cousin and decided to give it a spin. Lead to 40+ attempts on Gundyr and always needing to rely on others for progress and aid. I never improved or got better, so I decided to start with Dark Souls 1 and go from there. When I eventually got back to 3 I got a newfound respect and challenge for all the fights. Dark Souls 3 will forever hold a spot as a favorite for me, and I'm happy to see you give 3 another shot. I'll be watching your journey Ashen One
This was such a pain in the ass in Bloodborne. I never played DS3 on console so it's a little surprising to see that they actually kept this feature around.
DS3 actually has a better and more balanced selection of gifts than the previous games, which both had a clear, objective go-to that completely eclipsed the rest.
Yeah for DS2 it is *VERY* clear to go to the Petrified Something since you have the chance for equipment, and it eclipse everything else. Life gems you get plenty of later, Life Ring can be useful, and I forget the rest
i love how you duel it out with enemies so much lol. i tend to play more cautiously and going for backstabs and parries, but you just poise through or stagger. this was fun to watch! thank you
Ds3 was my first introduction to the souls games. I remember watching my dad play it. I remember once asking him specifically "What’s that game with the knights and where you shoot flame pillars from the ground?" because it just looked so cool and thats what I associated dark souls with. The Dark Souls 1 Firelink Shrine is great, and so is Majula, but the Firelink Shrine in Dark Souls 3 will always feel more like home. It feels safer, theres always a roof over my head and walls around me. The UI looks the best in DS3 imo. I have a big hyperfixation for the soulsborne games, and especially for Dark Souls 3, it will always have that special spot in my heart.
My first run through dark souls 3 that really got its legs under it was strength run with the Lothric knight greatsword. I would definitely recommend it as a first run back through the game.
I love this game, but also notice that NG cycles are brutal, mostly because it's tuned for PvP, the enemy weaknesses aren't as extreme, and the character ceilings seem low compared to other titles. For future runs, I'd recommend the White Branch starter gift, for a hidden mechanic with a giant archer, who will help you get important items for lots of runs.
I know you are playing on a console for now, but if you start to get into DS3 for the challenge runs, would also be cool to see you do a playthrough of The Convergence mod if you get the PC version. Fromsoft seems to have started actually putting it on sale now, so you can probably grab it on steam during the Christmas sale. The mod is largely based around magic, but also has some cool melee builds.
I also have this odd relationship with Dark Souls 3. I feel like it's the best game in the trilogy, but it's not the one I enjoy the most. It's polished, well made, a great love letter... But it's just not igniting that spark in me the way the other two do. Either way, great to see you back!
I like ds3 but I also always thought it was 3rd place behind 1 and 2 because "ds3 played it safe for better and worse". Completely inconsequential "remember-this?" story and zero risks taken. This makes it a streamlined and easy to get into game that's easy to like... but kind of makes it somewhat watered down too. Still a fan either way though!
Damn I was really hoping you'd challenge Dancer, told my friend on his first playthrough if DS3 that she makes a boss fight harder down the line and its your only chance to take her out here. Man spent 4 hours on Dancer but did it, and found out I was messing with him
19:20 Most likely, actually way more than likely, your controller has an issue with it where it's registering phantom inputs. 20:12 Based on that gesture menu, I'm not entirely correct on why your doing gestures randomly. Motion controls be messing with you. :P
I wouldn’t call Vanguard Demon or Grafted Scion tutorial bosses, since you’re meant to a to them and don’t get another chance until much later. For demons souls, the real first boss is Phalanx, and for ER, I’m pretty sure Margit is the intended first major boss.
Dark Souls 1 is good if you just want a fun yet bug filled journey, Dark Souls 2 is fun if you want to sheer creative amount of things you can do in it while being less bug riddled, and Dark Souls 3 mechanically is great but has some of the worst difficulty spike in the entire three game line. I best describe Dark Souls 3 as the game you play for an objective challenge because it has so many hard stops on what you can get or obtain paired with some extremely unfair hit boxes that have some staggering damage amounts to them, add in the soul yield is low enough that you always feel under leveled makes the game some what grading. This is why when I play Dark Souls 3 I would rather play Convergence because it fixes some of the major drags the game has, just like some automatically put on Seekers of Fire for Dark souls 2 because it addresses the over corrections that SoTFS has.
I feel the opposite for DS3, it always felt lile the most balanced journey from all fromsoft games (besides bloodborne but I have not played it). Beside the DLC Bosses almost every Dark Souls 3 Boss does not one shot you on SL1 besides the big attacks (like DSA Weapon Art). Compared to the complete clownfest that is DS1 Balancing it is a far better journey imo
DS3 is…. weird with me. None of the games are perfect but the main issues with DS3 just irk me the most. Balancing is all over the place so my build variety always felt really restricted and so much of the coolest shit is late game only anyways
DS3 is by far my least played game in the series, at only 195 hours. For me it's the combat and moment to moment gameplay; whereas Demons Souls and DS1+2 can be likened to playing as a horror movie protagonist with common sense, DS3 to me feels more like playing as an action movie protagonist with a glass jaw. I just don't enjoy playing the game as much as I do others in the series, but at the end of the day it's still a Souls game and thus a remarkable example for the industry to aspire to.
I am so glad GW is back, experiencing the hit new game DS3
Me too, I missed GW :"3
I love this game to death. It's a really nice love letter to all the souls saga, and a farewell.
My Fromsoft journey began with Dark Souls 3, I heard of the challenge from my cousin and decided to give it a spin. Lead to 40+ attempts on Gundyr and always needing to rely on others for progress and aid.

"Hopefully this time on better conditions"
Yes, indeed...
It is called Dark Souls 3, where GamersWeekend's Dark Souls journey converges.
I absolutely love this game, and I am extremely happy to see you enjoy it more than before. It's genuinely my favorite of the 3 main souls games.
All the accidental gestures are a problem specifically with the playstation motion control and nobody knows how to turn it off
I was wondering about that, it kept happening and I was thinking it was just me lol
If I remember correctly you can just turn off motion controls in the ds3 settings
This was such a pain in the ass in Bloodborne. I never played DS3 on console so it's a little surprising to see that they actually kept this feature around.
Yes you can i turned it off in the games settings and you can turn it off in the system settings lol
I think the Switch port of DS1:R has this issue as a quirk? I've noticed something weird with them too like this
Awesome to see you giving DS3 another shot, one of my personal favs
DS3 actually has a better and more balanced selection of gifts than the previous games, which both had a clear, objective go-to that completely eclipsed the rest.

Honestly cannot wait for DS3 Challenges by Kyle 🥳

i'm glad i'm not the only one who had trouble with the emotes randomly going off, motion control emotes was definitely a decision
The prodigal son returns
That frozen club thing is amazing!
We missed you!!!
I fell asleep watching the video 10/10 best background noise you've created thus far.
Had to do a double take when i saw Kyle finally came back after 83 years
I look forward to your DS3 challenge runs :) thanks for all the entertainment

You can get the silver serpent ring right from the start if you jump of the tree onto the roof
Babe wake up Christmas came early
omg your back!
bro casually dropped a movie

So glad to see that you are still going strong. Was wondering how you have been. Are you also doing the DS2 challenge as well?
56:14 HOLY!! What is that damage?? Jesus. You abused the boss so hard. I have never seen anyone obliterate the boss that hard!
Our lord hath return’st to play Best Souls 3
Gael, Father of Igon… they really do sound a lot alike.
Vordt's Mace spotted, dopamine released.
Bow is a mix bag but definitely doable

it's been 87 years...

Come on Kyle, we all know it took you 15 minutes to name that toon. Dont you lie!

And he uploaded on the weekend what are the odds?

*points down*
I didn't mean to do that.
Kyle, it's been five months, can I please have my ds2 live streams back please?
Lets gooooo

DS3 is peak souls, imo
Glad to see you give it another shot
Bro gonna miss like 3 month again🙏☠️

Not liking ds3 is a character flaw
This is kind of a spoiler, but the first normal miracles you get in DS3 suck
Ah yes, the worst DS game. I understand you not playing it until now.
