Have you tried the Ping i500 irons yet? What are your thoughts?
The Average Golfer just bought mine and played this weekend! Forgiveness and distance was great!
I hit bunch of balls with both and found i500 too hard feel. I preferred i210 because of the feel.
I picked up the Ping i500 8 weeks ago. I previously gamed the 2016 Titleist AP1 irons. During my fitting , my spec’s called for green dot, with Project X 115 grams Shift Shaft. I had my 4 iron customized to a power spec fit. On January1, 2019 I carded a 85 and I’m a 13 handicap. To date, I’ve played 4 rounds. Overall, they feel good and I’m still getting used to them. I’ll get a better idea of them once the weather gets a little warmer.
The Average Golfer just bought a set. Best irons ive ever felt. Great height flight distance and feel!
I managed to get a fitting with a Ping fitter who was doing demo days at a golf retailer. The idea for me was to buy G410 irons. Maybe it was the offset but I struggled with G410 and got my best results with regard to dispersion and distance with i500’s. Not got them yet just because I want to try them off grass and not an artificial mat.
Excellent video, yes we need more reviews like this. Different golfers, different ages, different levels. Brilliant
Andy, it’s good to see clubs hit by a group of different aged players. For each player, perhaps it would be good to provide the number of the club being hit, shaft used, flex. In this way, more viewers may be able to identify with a tester...
Yes good feedback
I like this unbiased approach. You can count on honest feedback in the format I think.
I was very impressed by the amount of work you put in to making a video like this. You are correct it is very important to get different amounts of information depending on the skill level of the player and more importantly different set ups. Most of us out here do not carry low handicaps and especially higher handicap players with you included here was very important. I subscribed today.
Great format. Good to hear the opinions of golfers of a range of ages, handicaps, users of other brands of clubs. More of this please - well done for this initiative.
Enjoyed the video especially having a left hander testing them since I’m left handed and seeing them from my perspective thanks
messed up all my camera angles!
I’m sure it did but thanks anyway lol
Love this format. To be honest there’s limited value knowing how these clubs perform for a pro. More please.
I think this is a fantastic format, and am surprised there's not more of this with other club reviewers. Great job.
I really enjoy this coming from different handicaps and ages and honest opinions, Thanks.
Excellent stuff Andy 👍. You’re on to a winner with this format. Well done to all the participants for their honest and useful feedback, what’s not to like 👏👏👏.
Thanks Gordon
Love the format. I played my first round with these today. When I do my part, they really perform well.
Nice to hear from the variety of golfers you gathered up for this review. It definitely adds to the depth of opinion from a review perspective.
brilliant thanks
I like this format Andy. It has the same appeal that drew me to your channel in the first place. People that swing the club like I do. Thumbs up from me.
Brilliant thxs
Do this with the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro and 919 Forged! Seems like the guys who actually know how to hit loves them! I hit them and loved them, very powerful and if I didn’t just get new Irons, I would grab these.
Hi Andy - really like this format, especially as I’m interested in these and the i210’s. Also considering graphite shafts as my club speed is higher with same control. More of these please 👍
I agree with all of them that liked them. I disagree with all those who didn't like them better than what they have. ...... ;) maybe because I tried them, got fitted for them, and begin playing them as of two months ago. Great to hear the comments and thoughts. For me they were a 'fit' - feel, results, and playability had me go back to PING after two years of Titleist. After about 10 rounds or so with them I do not regret the decision. Look great, feel great, forgiving - what more could I ask LOL
Loved Hearing the perspective from multiple different Angles
Brilliant, Andy! It's super helpful to hear from a variety of golfers and all in one video. One suggestion is to try to get their feedback on accuracy between the test club(s) and their current clubs. It's nice to hit the ball farther, but I'm more concerned about accuracy.
Yes good feedback
This is a great idea...would like to see all your product testing do in this format...something for everyone!
thxs Bill
Loved it Andy. Great idea and fun to watch. Keep these guys on your call for other products.
cheers Todd
Love the format. I watched several videos in the past but now i also subscribed hoping to see more videos like this one.
Excellent this is what I like to see. Definitely more of these with all the popular clubs.
I liked the video and the format. Good job, I'd like to see more of these. I think this video was perfect as Ping targets these for those in between players clubs and game improvement clubs. Hits the mark for this product for sure.
Great video Andy. This may have been mentioned already, but it would be helpful to have each tester hit a few shots with a club currently in their bag, then a few with the club being tested. Then compare how each of the clubs performed in the measured categories. Also, showing a graphic highlighting each club's dispersion characteristics would provide a good visual reference.
yes we will improve it
Great idea Andy enjoyed the video and look forward to more average golfers trying the clubs out.
Great video and good to see how the irons perform for different handicap players. Think you should do more on all new club releases and do some if possible out on the course. Keep up the good work. Pete
Keep the new format up really enjoyed that.
Good video Andy, enjoyed the format. Constructive criticism - maybe ask the same set format questions to each person to illicit the type of information you're trying to find.
That being said, people are different and will respond differently to any questions asked!
I'd still be really interested to help out in any future tests (especially the new TS2 and TS3) 😉
All questions asked the same! Yes we will look at the drivers next
@@TheAverageGolfer ah right, cool, well in that case, it's interesting to see how different people elaborate their thoughts and feelings! Either way mate, good VLOG
yes your right
One of your better videos. Nice to get several opinions. Thank you.
Great format Andy.
Very constructive.
Haven't tried them myself as they are too expensive for me and I might just like them !!!
You must do this again as it is different and fresh.
Well done and thanks.
Appreciated thxs
Extremely good format. Congrats. Do more. Really good to see how a range of people, handicaps, ages, and left and right handers assess but also compare to their existing clubs. Also good to know if any of them had tried or assessed other clubs and quickly how the one they were assessing compare to those. Ie where does it stack up against others in their opinion. Including how often they change clubs. It occurs to me that year on year there is not really a huge difference but maybe every three or four years there is a big enough jump. For example I found that even with the same brand - in my case srixons - the new model while slightly better than the previous one are not really different in feel, performance etc enough to make it worth a change and spend more especially if you add custom fitting to the process.
Love the format with a test team.
Great video ... brilliant idea to get some varied opinions. I'd love to see more of this format ... cheers mate.
thank you
Great video Andy a good spread of people's thoughts, I haven't tried the i500 very happy with my P790 irons.
yes i would
I thought this was very useful for anyone thinking of trying these clubs and is a good way of getting varied opinion. Keep it going for other clubs
I think that you have really hit on a great format with the group testing Andy, well done.
I agree with Bill Bel that a little more info on the shaft and club setup would be useful, also specific feedback from the reviewers on what their usual distance is with their own club and the shot shape and then how the test club performed in comparison.
But well done for opening up the review base, its a great idea.
Yes it will get better
Love this concept for a video. Great job! I'll stick to my mizuno irons.
cheers John
Defo do more like this, really interesting to hear what players of different abilities have to say.
I really like the format of this video and in many ways more informative than 1 regular tester.
The test did seem to show that, with the exception of Luke who has a wonderfully fluid if slightly slow swing (get Luke some lessons to speed up that swing!), the i500 is a low spinning club. I get the idea that a steep descent angle will enable stop on the green most of the time but if you play on a course with firm greens (think links course in the summer) IMO the i500 will be virtually uncontrollable - this was the problem I found a while back when I tried M2s
I am currently having lessons where to start I changed a cut into a slight draw as you can see from my side spin numbers and once I can do this more consistently I will be working on upping the speed hopefully
Spot on! Great for the opinions of wider golfers
cheers Andy
Great to have a team review. More of these.
Good stuff Andy. As most of us are average players I feel this brings a new dimension to testing and your content going forward. Thanks. Ps I’m still trying to get cut!! Up .2 since season started 😂😂
its a tough old game Gareth
Nice video. Those guys were real average golfers. Would like to see more like this. Something I can relate to.
Good to hear the views of diverse range of golfers who have nothing invested in the brand - I thought the balance was right 👍
Love the look of Dubai Creek!
Andy, love the new format. Have you thought of adding a player with a swing speed of less than 100
Great concept Andy, well done. I'd like to point out that this video makes a real case for hitting clubs before you buy them and getting fitted. Compare Walter's numbers (4:40) to Luke's (9:15). Same ball speed, same launch angle but Luke has nearly 6000 rpm of spin and a peak height of 23 yards whereas Walter is at only 3269 spin and a peak of 20 yards. Luke is going to stop his shots on the green fairly easily but Walter's will probably have signficant rollout, especially if he isn't using a premium ball.
Andy and I noticed my spin numbers were up there compared to most. Low spinning irons is not something I want as you said I want them to stop the other end if only I could get the other guys distances lol
Wouldn't we all like that distance?! Kudos to you and Andy though. On many other channels all the testing is done with guys that have swing speeds that are much higher than mine and their results don't necessarily translate to me. Andy's swing speed is only a bit higher than mine and yours and Walter's are about the same as mine. Watching these videos is a reminder to pay very close attention to the spin numbers when I get fitted.
Typically half the membership of any golf club are 17 handicap or higher with a glut of members in the low 20's handicap. I therefore based on my club and probably most clubs see the average golfer as 17 handicap.
With this in mind there should have been at least two of your 5 testers in the 20+ handicap range.
I might have missed it, but I didn’t know they were hitting 7 iron till toward the end. Would like to see each players swing speed added, drop the side spin number. I went to a Ping fitting at the Leadbetter Academy in Bangkok, I play off 14 but really struggling with my irons. The fitter after seeing my swing tried to put me into the i500, but I didn’t strike it well. Tried the new i210, loved them. Better trajectory, spin, front to back dispersion. Just a bit shorter, but they felt better and more solid to me. I’m a senior with a mid 70’s swing speed on 7 iron, wasn’t looking for distance, just consistency.
I prefer the i210s Ren
Great Idea Andy to get other average golfers opinions From 6 to 16 handicap, good video.
Yes. This is a good format. Around 150 yds 7 irons...yes!
Great idea enjoyed multiple opinions from different handicaps
thanks
I have tried them Andy, liked them but preferred the i210s. Apart from some sound issues a really good format and good video
Yes me also
Brilliant video Andy, love the different opinions from players of a variety of ages, swings and Handicap's. Look forward to seeing more of the same. You may even get more subscribers when they tell there friends they were on TH-cam lol
Hows your back?
@@TheAverageGolfer lol, I'm guessing Ian Pendrey told you. Its on the mend. Going to the range next week to try it. Channels doing great buddy. I even made it to your last 6 and got a mention. I know luke Cartwright so was nice to see him on your channel
Like the format nice to hear a different perspective always good if your in the market for new. Not tried these though.
The only problem I have... which is a big one, from the sound of it, it seemed like out of all the golfers none of them really hit any pure shots (maybe 2-3)..... yet it’s so forgiving and long they were still traveling far and accurate, I recently switched from the Nike VR blades to the i500 and although it may not be as soft as a Nike blade, it’s pretty damn close and 100000 times more forgiving, the ball flight is sooo high, I love the i500 (I went from a 3 HC to a 1 when switching from blades to i500, the only thing the blades do better is hit low shots more solid, and like I said they are softer on the sweet spot, but other than that, just as good 💯💯)
Well done Andy, enjoyed the format
Let’s see some more of these Andy
I enjoyed this video and found it very interesting.
Andy I like this idea of getting a different type of golfer to do the testing, I would like to see it for real on a golf course where we could check the flight, height stopping etc. I know the logistics of doing this are not easy, however!!
yes this was tough enough but we may do it in future
Team average...... I love it! Must be a new # yeh? Good job Andy getting these guys together and having this on. Can’t wait to see more!
yes new #
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer also Andy my handicap 6.2 on taggers wall, think I’m straight up from the A
Like the format, keep up the good work.
Cool video Andy I like this format.
Great idea Andy. Good to hear different opinions. Can you do Ping I 210 please 😀
TS drivers next and then maybe
I am interested in this club so it was usefull to see the different opinions.
Really great vid! Love that more people hit them and give feedback
Love this channel. Great work
Great video. I liked the opinions of others aspect of the review. Keep it up on other reviews along with your personal review.
Nice idea to use that format, well done
Would defo be interested in more vids of this kind .
Great video Andy. More please.
Great format ,more please.
Defo
The average golfer invites other average golfers to test - great idea. Thought it was brilliant
thank you
Yes very good Andy thanks
Great concept!
The i500's feel ok in my opinion. They definitely get the ball up in the air and look good behind the ball. I do not think they are good enoigh to prize me away from my mizuno mp18 sc's though.
Great idea and format! The Ping i500 are great irons. I have tried the different Ping irons at a golf store near where I work. Would I change to them from my Hogan PTX irons? No. I like the feel of the Hogans better.
Michael Ackerman Hogan’s? Really? They haven’t made irons in a few years right? I recently switched from the Nike VR blades to the i500, although I miss the feel and workability of the Nike’s, the i500’s really don’t hit a bad shot
Liked video Andy great idea can’t wait for more club reviews
Much more of this Andy great stuff
It's great getting the various opinions . Walter needs his own channel!! He's great! #teamavg
These reviews are brilliant. Tx
Great video as always Andy! Still cant make up my mind though??
Great idea Andy!
cheers
Andy great format.
I would like them to give their opinion about putting them in their bag if the cost was no object; if they could trade these for their current clubs would they?
Great vid and great idea to have Team Average 👍🏌️
Really good idea Andy and great to get peoples opinions. Hope to see you soon as iv registered also with yourself to help out in the format of videos 👍
Will be including more people Lee
I would have thought letting us know which shaft options were used by each player?
Love this format!! Can you do the i210s next?
in the future
Mark Crossfield Rick Shiels have missed a trick, watching decent standard average golfers and listening to their opinion is very interesting. Most golfers watching would be able to identify with one or another of the team. Just on the back of this review and you versus james Withshire I've subscribed to your channel
Nigel Hockenhull that’s great Nigel, we have more testing from a range of golfers coming soon
I'm guessing about 20 or so tested, you pick 5. At least 2 out the 5 give them a big thumbs up?
That's just a guess now.
These backspin numbers are crazy. 3500 rpms? I don't care what the peak height is, that's too low.
Mega cool
Do the jpx918 range next
Great video Andy.
thxs
Great idea Andy
I have tried this club out but I couldn't hit the thing
Will you be getting any 18 to 24 hcp trying clubs out
yes all hcps
@@TheAverageGolfer
Wish I was closer as would love to be a tester
Late to the party here. Loved the video and the format.
I'm a lady golfer, if you could find ladies/girls/juniors to get involved in these club testing formats to expand viewers perspectives would be greatly appreciated!
Really like the videos.
Great for the "average golfer".
You should ditch the "club swinging" music, though.
Cheers!
Nice format 👍
Great video...... Keep it going
