The xenomorph models with their gross wet gooiness is damn amazing in this movie too. They don't show them as some simple military tools, but as living and breathing weapons and it's just awesome. They have been a creature I've loved ever since I was a kid.
22:51 if you think about how strong their blood is, it can burn through several layers of steel, he gets burned a little bit but his head doesn't melt away. I always figured their spit was acidic, but nowhere near as strong as their blood. If they had spit on their containment unit they may not have been able to burn through it fast enough to actually escape before the doctors used countermeasures. Killing their brother ensured they could escape, while spitting may have allowed them to escape, maybe
Fun fact: the director of Resurrection was also a director on French indie film Amélie that basically started the Manic Pixie Girl movie fad of the 2000s (Garden State, Elizabethtown, 500 Days of Summer, Stranger Than Fiction, etc.) They've got some other really good lesser known movies too, like Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and Big Bug.
The reason Ripley 8 had the xenomorph in her is possibly because of Xeno reproduction . A common theory is that the face hugger doesn't implant an egg, but rather starts a process of changing the hosts DNA to produce the chest buster. This explains why Xeno's take on some characteristics of its host ( making it more suited for the environment ) This movie potentially backs up that theory, because when they retrieved Riply's blood, it would be post FHer after her DNA was altered, and it took 8 tries to get a clone that was human enough to live and gestate a chest buster, and not some horrible amalgam between the 2 species due to her DNA being spliced.
Yeah, the first 7 were more hybrid than human. But it also meant they weren't alien enough to be a queen either. However, I have to wonder..... what if they HAD in fact lived.... would they have been intelligent beings with xeno strength?
that's always been my impression as well. I mean, look how mixed the previous clones were. the only reason they with with R-8 was because she was "good enough"
@@marhawkman303 because she was pregnant with a xeno most of the third movie, so their DNA was already fused together when her blood was taken. The xeno she was carrying fused with Ripley and mingled their DNA

So there are several types of xenomorphs, the drones in the cage are just that. The other one is a spitter, the spit acid is more diluted mainly meant to subdue. The guys with BIG spines on their backs are warriors or queensguard depending on their head shape… lots of types I love this movie as well because in the 2nd movie we get told they’re smart by the power being cut and then go through the ceiling since they can’t get through the doors. This one we are ACTIVELY SHOWN they have problem solving, knowledge about their own anatomy, and apparently good memories and vengeful tendencies which is exactly what they’re like in the lore. They will actually save people that are a pain in the rear to deal with to slowly and painfully remove them later
I mean militarizing Dinos kinda makes sense if you remember Owen was able to train raptors and later on they used them so I feel like raptors make sense but a t-Rex or anything like that doesn’t like one of the flying ones can just attack you or leave but a trained attack drone raptor is perfect for random quick ambushes in places like jungles and such compared to footmen
When it comes to original 4 Alien movies I always love "Aliens" and "Alien Resurrection" because it feels like a small invasion of these crazy monsters and the humans look like they're at war with something that is so grotesque and wild.
I grew up with the alien franchise and the films had a massive effect on me... I remember going to collect alien resurrection at the video store and walking home so excited and honestly was really happy with the film when I watched it . It fit in with the times and that's something people always forget when putting films under the microscope. The time in which a film is released reflects on the pop culture at the time.
2:50 Ripley only got some alien traits/DNA because of the cloning process, if anyone actually survived a chest burster, they wouldn't get alien traits. They explained that for some reason, they had to play with the DNA levels from Ripley and the queen to get a viable cloned queen. Basically its movie logic that says we cant get one without the other, but if you can clone a human, then you can screen out the human DNA and just clone the queen. But the writers aren't scientists and they wanted Ripley in the movie so we got this weird cloning process that resulted in a bunch of freaky Ripley clones.
I’ve binged your first two Alien reviews over a day while editing videos of my own and omg I’m so happy you decided to review Resurrection! It’s one of if not my favorite Alien film (close to the OG for me)
I've always really enjoyed this movie. Maybe because I'd already seen Jean Paul Jeunet's other films beforehand so I had an idea of what to expect, but it has a fantastic cast (esp Ron Perlman and Brad Dourif) and Sigourney Weaver had full creative control over her character and clearly has a lot of fun. This seems like the type of movie that was fun for the cast and crew in general.
Great cast, cool director, classic slasher film tropes, weird sci-fi props and plenty of goo, and Brad Dourif is the cherry on top. And Dan Hedaya. Not only the whiskey cube but also the breath scanner to unlock doors.
5:04 Oh yeah, Brad Dourif! Man has been around the bend and back! Played Chucky the serial killer that possessed a kid’s doll in Child’s Play and the rest of the Chucky franchise. I personally enjoyed him being the Mr. Eyebrows mentat in the original Dune movie and Piero in Dishonored. Nowadays, the man looks like a cross between Malcolm McDowell and Hide The Pain Harold. Still does fantastic work.
Actually I quite liked this one, Ron Perlman always brings an awesome, gravelly-voiced edge to anything he’s in and I liked Ripley-8 too! The Newborn was ... different. Not my favourite but a decent idea *in theory* (there’s a T-Rex Xenomorph folks, is this so unthinkable?) but they just messed it up. Glad you like it too Alteori, though it’s just a regular pleasure for me (I think AVP 2 was waaay worse) 😎😎😎 Thank you for the new vid Alteori (love your new avatar btw) 💙🐱💙
@VotingChipmunk oh I loved the Predalien, the idea was equal parts scary and cool ... but I think they made it OP not only in that it was a Predalien *Queen* (how since the dead Predator got caught by a regular Facehugger?) so it could make more little spawns of Satan ... but also multiple offspring are born _instantaneously_ from the poor host ... seriously that bit in the delivery room with all the women in labour and seeing that one woman and her unborn child die twists my guts to think about (then again later when there was a Xenomorph in nursery with the babies) 😖😖😖
I have always assumed (and is my head canon) That the reason for Ripley 8 and the Alien Queen sharing characteristics was due to the cloning process and the samples obtained. I assumed that the sample consisted of Both of their DNA and the cloning was creating a strange mutant (hence the other clones) so over time they had to figure out how to isolate Ripley and the chest burster.
I LOVE the xenomorph design. As much as films 1 and 2 are works of genius (and the rest very much NOT) it is Gieger's Xeno design that I am in love with and I am ALWAYS gonna want to see it more and more.
The way you described the movie as a sort of justifiable guilty pleasure, and yet pridefully gives me the vibe of a cat that just brought back a rat, causing its owner to yell at it.
I, too, have questioned the corrosive properties of Xenomorph blood. The only thing I can think of is that it reacts differently (or rather, corrodes differently) based on the substances it comes into contact with. =^~^=
It’s also a chemical reaction to oxygen, The xenomorphs are silicone/Silicate based life. So while our blood is rich in iron giving its color, their blood is in a sealed pressurized environment so it’s properties can dramatically change and their bodies are more tolerable to hostile chemicals for its biology since silicone based life could exist in theory but it’d have to be in absolutely brutal conditions. As for the inconsistencies it’s resurrection… we’re not really shocked.

@27:18 actually there's a weird trick that works on people where if u talk to them and keep their focus on u and hand them anything they'll pick it up without realising.
Keeping a trophy of someone you killed is a custom of the Yautja, the Species known as the "Predators" in the Alien Lore. It's a short nod to the fans that Ripley gives the inner jaw of a Xenomorph to C.A.L.
Shadow the hedgehog, Mewtwo and the JP dinosaurs sould start a club with the Clone Xenomorphs as the "Lab Experiments that the Military wanted to Weaponize"
A movie being fun covers over a whole lot of faults in my humble opinion. Ive always found this movie fun in its own little way, much more-so than Alien 3.
Three minutes in and I begin to realise that I saw a severely cut version of the film since there are scenes that I do not remember being there. >.< Also the director of this movie said once "Wait I thought we're filming a comedy, no?" ...and really, it explains so much about this movie.

nice bit of trivia: alledgedly, the backwards basketballshot that went through the hoop is actually real and unassisted- weaver just threw that thing behind herself and hit. the reason for the sudden cut after it is that somebody amongst the mercenaries broke character in amazement immediately afterwards
@@ladyfaeryj5108 It's more of a fandom consensus thing. Can't find a direct citation for it, but the wiki and the TVTropes Headscratchers page for the film have it that they needed a lot of acid right then and there to make a big hole, and they picked the compromised drone for it.

Alteori that spitting Xenomorph is a subspecies of the main batch who's evolved/born/made for ranged combat. The fact that the Xenomorphs are smart enough to know they need some form of ranged weapon and they R&D genetics to evolve a spitting variant from the base group shows just how much a threat they are. After all ambushes and hit and run tactics can only get you so far in a battle against a superior enemy. Plus it reiterates the whole Xenomorphs are an evolving species concept cuz evolution is like their thing so if they don't evolve variants to deal with certain situations or conditions then their hive or species is at risk.

'Fun' fact, the murdered drone ALSO agrees with the plan, including his role as the sacrifice...but his sense of self preservation still makes his death a horrible, fearful experience.
TLDR, this is all Burke's fault. Without him, the thought never would have occurred to them
@@TheKyrix82 I did not know there was a novel version! Will have to look that up.
@@valashar5313 Pretty much every movie that isn't based on a book has a novelization, and it tends to go off the script, meaning you more or less get the director's cut
Or maybe the other alien that threw up acid blood was a spitter alien
This was the first ALIEN movie i ever saw in a theatre so it holds a special place in my heart. I love the BETTY and her crew - theyre basically the Prototype of the FIREFLY crew
I did not need to know about corrosive acid on man parts. But now that I do know, I can't unknow it.
Thank you for that horror image! God, I love your snarky humor.
That bug scene is in the director's cut of the movie. Ornan extended version of some kind :)
You mentioned the risk of having acid blood if she tries to sleep with someone, I raise you the issue with finding period supplies when you have acid blood
Not gonna lie, hearing Alteori squeal over the baby alien near the end is both absolutely adorable and wholesome while also being like “uhhhh…what?” 😂
This one may not be as great as the others, but you just gotta love how they stay true to the main protagonist. Ripley, clone or not, is still a Ripley badass we love.
Nice to see the review back up even tho I already watched it
Fun fact: the director of Resurrection was also a director on French indie film Amélie that basically started the Manic Pixie Girl movie fad of the 2000s (Garden State, Elizabethtown, 500 Days of Summer, Stranger Than Fiction, etc.)
They've got some other really good lesser known movies too, like Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and Big Bug.
@oedipa I like Alien resurrection movie but I don't like Big bug movie.
I honestly loved it. That baby hybrid was creepy as hell!
"Backshot after backshot.."
AYO LMAO Love the vid
I don't think hosts get gene info from a xeno. I think the sheer fact these two were cloned together is the reason they're so mixed.
that's always been my impression as well. I mean, look how mixed the previous clones were. the only reason they with with R-8 was because she was "good enough"
Yeah I always thought they just couldn’t seperate their DNA since Ripley was impregnated when they got her blood
@@moistwrmonastring1017 Yeah, but... how did Xeno DNA get in Ripley's blood?
@@marhawkman303 because she was pregnant with a xeno most of the third movie, so their DNA was already fused together when her blood was taken. The xeno she was carrying fused with Ripley and mingled their DNA
5:46 lol! And thank you for bringing this up 🤣 way back when there was, uh, 'art' pertaining to this and alot of people didn't get the joke.
*"WhAt Do YoU mEaN, tHaNkFuLlY sHe'S nOt ViRgIn??"*
LMAO! Canid minds think alike
@@Alteori lol yep
I love there is still content of Alien in the middle of 2022, especially from one of my favorites TH-camr. Best regards from Venezuela :3
I am so glad I found your channel. You're commentary is gold. Backshot after backshot 😂
10:19 That burned more than Alien's acid blood xD
23:55 Now that's metal!
This movie has one of my favorite lines in a movie, and it comes from Dom.
"Who were you expecting, SANTA CLAUS??"
Fun fact Sigourney Weaver actually made the backwards shot. Woot 3-pointer.
It isn’t my personal favorite Alien movie, but the hybrid towards the end is dope as fuck. I will say the basketball shot is one of my favorite moments of this movie. You will probably enjoy Alien vs Predator
Oh my god I loved how you had the chestburster screeching out “RIPLEY!” That was somehow do adorable yet so creepy and quite possibly what the chestburster was saying when it shrieked like that
I can't believe Alteori used "Backshots" in an alien review 🤣🤣🤣 I just found her and I already love this crazy chick!!
funfacts sigone really did make that shot without looking. if i remember right the hard cut was bc there were a few genuine praises given afterward. Also they did keep wetting the buggo....but they used lube lol
Yep. They had to hard cut because Rom Perlman went absolutely ape shit.
@@valashar5313 i dont blame him that was awesome
And that's why we love ya, alty. You're a quirky foxxo =3 resurrection was a wild movie, still remember my friends dad ordering it on HBO back in the day. Lol, he was afraid it would give us all nightmares 🤣
So there are several types of xenomorphs, the drones in the cage are just that. The other one is a spitter, the spit acid is more diluted mainly meant to subdue. The guys with BIG spines on their backs are warriors or queensguard depending on their head shape… lots of types
I love this movie as well because in the 2nd movie we get told they’re smart by the power being cut and then go through the ceiling since they can’t get through the doors.
When it comes to original 4 Alien movies I always love "Aliens" and "Alien Resurrection" because it feels like a small invasion of these crazy monsters and the humans look like they're at war with something that is so grotesque and wild.
i had barely even heard of the alien franchise until i saw your vids on it and now i am a massive fan of it!
Really
I grew up with the alien franchise and the films had a massive effect on me... I remember going to collect alien resurrection at the video store and walking home so excited and honestly was really happy with the film when I watched it .
It fit in with the times and that's something people always forget when putting films under the microscope.
The time in which a film is released reflects on the pop culture at the time.
Ron "Hellboy" Pearlman and Brad "Chucky" Dorif. I always love watching those 2 in movies. Also Sigourney Weaver is a joy to watch as well.
😂 alien chest burster yelling ripply

It’s one of if not my favorite Alien film (close to the OG for me)
That means a lot ☺️
The fact that she actually made that back shot with the ball is still so cool to me
Actually I quite liked this one, Ron Perlman always brings an awesome, gravelly-voiced edge to anything he’s in and I liked Ripley-8 too! The Newborn was ... different. Not my favourite but a decent idea *in theory* (there’s a T-Rex Xenomorph folks, is this so unthinkable?) but they just messed it up. Glad you like it too Alteori, though it’s just a regular pleasure for me (I think AVP 2 was waaay worse) 😎😎😎
Thank you for the new vid Alteori (love your new avatar btw) 💙🐱💙
@VotingChipmunk oh I loved the Predalien, the idea was equal parts scary and cool ... but I think they made it OP not only in that it was a Predalien *Queen* (how since the dead Predator got caught by a regular Facehugger?) so it could make more little spawns of Satan ... but also multiple offspring are born _instantaneously_ from the poor host ... seriously that bit in the delivery room with all the women in labour and seeing that one woman and her unborn child die twists my guts to think about (then again later when there was a Xenomorph in nursery with the babies) 😖😖😖
2:43 dear gosh I love the jungle book
I have always assumed (and is my head canon) That the reason for Ripley 8 and the Alien Queen sharing characteristics was due to the cloning process and the samples obtained. I assumed that the sample consisted of Both of their DNA and the cloning was creating a strange mutant (hence the other clones) so over time they had to figure out how to isolate Ripley and the chest burster.
The alien yelling Ripley made me chuckle!
I LOVE the xenomorph design. As much as films 1 and 2 are works of genius (and the rest very much NOT) it is Gieger's Xeno design that I am in love with and I am ALWAYS gonna want to see it more and more.
Love that she actually made the shot with the basketball
The way you described the movie as a sort of justifiable guilty pleasure, and yet pridefully gives me the vibe of a cat that just brought back a rat, causing its owner to yell at it.
fun fact: the weird zany scientists Brad Dourif also plays original Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky. great actor for horror.
Alteori you always make everyone’s day better with your videos and we appreciate you for puttingthese videos out for us to enjoy! 💜
This is one of my favorite Alien movies. The twist of call being a robot was like whaaaaat? I love it when I'm surprised
I, too, have questioned the corrosive properties of Xenomorph blood. The only thing I can think of is that it reacts differently (or rather, corrodes differently) based on the substances it comes into contact with. =^~^=
It’s also a chemical reaction to oxygen,
The xenomorphs are silicone/Silicate based life.
5:58 Not a problem if the person doesn't do it rough, since it's not supposed to just bleed unless you don't know what you are doing or are a bit too big.
Mmmm. I got r*ped by some 20 yr old when I was 4 and I definitely bled. I later learned that even women who lose their virginity later bleed. I think it was a way in ancient times to tell if a marriage was consummated. I didn't know that they didn't always bleed.
@27:18 actually there's a weird trick that works on people where if u talk to them and keep their focus on u and hand them anything they'll pick it up without realising.
I really love your reviews. You can admit a movie is bad or parts of it while still saying why you enjoy it or parts. It's refreshing!
This is one of the first videos I’ve watched from you and I’m already loving the content. Also your little animal thingy is so adorable ;w;
I enjoyed all the Alien movies. Even covenant and Prometheus. Sometimes switch ur brain off and just enjoy the movie
A movie being fun covers over a whole lot of faults in my humble opinion. Ive always found this movie fun in its own little way, much more-so than Alien 3.
Three minutes in and I begin to realise that I saw a severely cut version of the film since there are scenes that I do not remember being there. >.<
Also the director of this movie said once "Wait I thought we're filming a comedy, no?" ...and really, it explains so much about this movie.
The cold substance the Xenomorphs (and that security guard) were getting blasted with was most likely liquid Nitrogen.
22:45 I'm guessing it took a lot more blood to escape the alien enclosure than it did to burn a guy's face.
LOVE Resurrection! Its soooo underrated
I love this movie . Probably my second favorite of the first four Alien movies . It also has my most favorite xenomorphs .
Fun fact: at 28:08 when you ask what the hell is that, it was made by Chris Cunningham, which after a year or two directed some of the best music videos from the 90's, including for Madonna ('Frozen'), Aphex Twin ('Come To Daddy') and Bjork ('All Is Full Of Love'). He also did creature effects for Alien 3, I think that's where he started his career.
This was literally the crew from 'Firefly' but stuck in a late Alien sequel, with Ripley as River.
This is my second favorite in the franchise. This shit was funny asf, more watchable than Alien and Alien³.
Then, you don't appreciate the subtle horror of _Alien._ And that subtle horror is what fueled the _Alien: Isolation_ game.
@@cjkalandek996 News flash, I gave the movie bonus points for creeping me out. I even have a hard copy of Alien & Aliens. Maybe you should ask questions before assuming shit that's false. Plus I don't give a rat's ass about Alien isolation, I never played the game. Plus is subtle horror all you care about??
Watchable in a different way.
nice bit of trivia: alledgedly, the backwards basketballshot that went through the hoop is actually real and unassisted- weaver just threw that thing behind herself and hit. the reason for the sudden cut after it is that somebody amongst the mercenaries broke character in amazement immediately afterwards
It's pretty wierd to see how much footage the Disney+ versions of the alien movies cut out from the original cuts
On the xenomorphs killing one of their own to escape, I read that it was becoming a bit too tame and compliant.
o was it in a book and if so can you tell me which book
@@ladyfaeryj5108 It's more of a fandom consensus thing. Can't find a direct citation for it, but the wiki and the TVTropes Headscratchers page for the film have it that they needed a lot of acid right then and there to make a big hole, and they picked the compromised drone for it.
Your chibi keeps getting more adorable.
That opening scene wasn't in the original release, as far as I remember. It's been a while since I watched it but I'm pretty sure I would remember such silly opening. Also, it really looks added on later because the cgi is AWFUL.
Not saying the overall cgi in the movie is good but compare to it looks weird XD
This moment 5:41 is GOLD. Bet we all thought about it at some point but never said it out loud. You are amazing Alti :3
This is the only movie that gave me a migraine after I watched it.
shes also remembering her daughter ..Amanada
I remember when i was younger i watched alien Isolation with my mom and it actually scared me. Lol
My theory for the acid spit has always been it's biting it's tongue mouth thing, and using the little bit as ammo
Welcome back missed this channel
37:10 it looks like her voice/commands is being broadcasted over the ships PA system to let the crew know a synth is overriding the ships computer. A security feature.
