What are your techniques for taking portraits?

Technically none, Ive been a photographer for some time now and the most i dived into Portraits was family. Nature and wildlife and travel and landscape have been my go to niche's. I also enjoy some macro. But videos like this are what I look for. Portraits is my new adventure!

I really don't understand why B&H sponsors this photographer.
He acts like if he invented photography but his pics are average.
Worst 56 minutes wasted in my life.
