I don't understand it. It's nothing like the others but this was the second game? Confused but interested. What made the randomly go to this style then back to what the 1st game was like? Just trying something different?

    • @AmeliaPond.

@@jonathanvandagriff7515 The original Super Mario Bros. 2 that was released in Japan is known as The Lost Levels in America and wasn't released until 1993 as part of Super Mario All Stars (a great game in and of itself). When Nintendo of America got a hold of the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 they found the game to be too hard. According to Takashi Tezuka and Shigeru Miyamoto, this was actually the goal of the game, however NoA cancled the stateside release as a result.
Since The Lost Levels wasn't to be released in America and Super Mario Brothers 3 was about to be released in Japan, Nintendo of America singled out a different game to take the place of Super Mario Brothers 2. That game was Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. Since it featured 4 different protagonists with varying stats, Toadstool and Toad were added to Mario and Luigi. Its also worth noting that this is the first game to feature Luigi as being taller than Mario because the character he was based on (Mama) was noticable taller than the character Mario was based on (Brother). The result is what is commonly known as Super Mario Brothers 2.

Nice new Channel Ryu. I'm not into Mario Maker too much, but I do watch that channel to because Mario Maker 2 does bring back the old Mario games. SMB2 was my first video game, back in 1989. My cousin taught me most of the secret door shortcuts and I figured out the high jump level 2 shortcut to the Birdo. Nostalgia is great. Thanks for putting all of our combined tricks from back in the day into a speedrun because back then my cousin and I didn't know what speed running was. It's crazy! I'm going to see if you have anymore speedruns of older games.

Ryu is one syllable. It sounds like the word "you" with a Japanese R at the beginning. The Japanese R is the glottal stop in the middle of the word "better". It's very difficult for a non-Japanese speaker to pronounce, because English cannot put that sound at the beginning of a word.

I like how the speedrun uses all 4 characters.

love this game. So much more interesting than Lost levels. I never quite liked SMB3 as much as 2. Don't know why

Nice job man, I'm fuckin proud ah ya! As far as the way to say Ryu, I say do it whatever way you want. I like the way it is pronounced in Shenmue almost like a d-yo type sound like. Also the boss music still kinda freaks me out to this day since a kid lol.

Wow I thought I was good. I played the heck out of this as a kid. I tried so hard to do the bird level with out riding a bird. Good job. And those glitches , didn’t know about those. And the potion wall bounce jump thing… wow. Very nice.
    Now castlevania sub 14? :).

Even the ALL stars version on the SNES still took me at least 2 hours EVEN when using warps to reach world 7 ASAP.

I never heard a Japanese word or name spoken in my childhood so why thought it was Rye You. Shout out to my favorite Emcee of the 90's-2000's who goes by the same name, Ryan Patrick Maginn (Ryu) of STYLES OF BEYOND! I first heard Ryu Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 with the song Subculture of the then unreleased album Terraform.

Holy Shit! Those were some awesome moves and you utilized a bunch of glitches I'd never seen before! As if that wasn't enough, I even learned the correct way to pronounce RYU after all these years. I am officially subscribed. :)

The way this guy holds his controller is ridiculous…its like how I never could see how people could ever use arcade Joy Sticks.
