- In today's video we had big plans to go and have a super fun day down at the theme parks, but rain ruined those plans. So instead we decided to go exploring around Ikea and make up back stories for the imaginary people who live in the display rooms at the Ikea near the Mall at Millenia. There is also a Target right across the street from the Ikea and you know we couldn't be that close to a Target without stopping in to see if they had any Halloween decorations out. Unfortunately they still had back to school items out and the Halloween stuff won't be out for another few weeks. We ended up the night working on the bathroom remodel a little more and finally got the sink installed. It is really starting to come together as a functioning bathroom! Hey Tim and Jenn! Thanks so much for visiting my IKEA! I am actually the interior designer who installed that first room you were making up stories about! We have met a few times at universal and it’s always fun to say hello! Funny thing is, we actually do have a “living situation “ that we create for every room in the showroom. As someone else mentioned, we call them “moments in time”. That particular room is a single mom who teaches crafting to kids and adults. ( hence two hammers, two scissors, etc) While students are creating things, we have games for some of the younger kids to play with while they wait. All the pics are supposed to be pics of students and friends... Chad, Winter and Autumn will now be the names I will use when describing this room! Lol! Every room gets this planning so you are not far off. There should be at least one picture of someone who lives there in each room or at least gives the customer an idea of what they enjoy ( travel, reading books, large families, etc) . I hope that the next time you come for a visit I will be there and can give you the complete tour of the store and explain many of the great ways we help our customers shop! Btw... the lighting in the kitchen draws are for sale and fit our cabinets. Not sure if we can hack them to fit other cabinets but we can try! I am sure I will run into you two at HHN! Later! 🤗
I relate so much to feeling like a wrench twisted something in my gut when plans are abruptly changed. Don’t know why, but it just gets to me in a way I can’t control or get over. Really spikes my anxiety and sometimes it seems so silly that it would.

I have those Kallax shelves and I absolutely love them!! With all the modular stuff it's pretty easy to get them laid out just how you want, I would super recommend them, I've had one set for about 5 years and they hold up just fine

I have the kallax (well a small one) the best thing is choosing all the inserts and making it your own! (Though in the U.K. the inserts ended up costing more then the unit!) they have a page on their website for all the different things you can get (like other drawers, and glass selves and stuff!)
Secondly I swear when I was watching all your vlogs back in spring 2016 you started taking out the bathroom! I’m so happy for you that your almost done!

I have the square cabinet thing with all the sub-square shelves! (I think it's called Kallax or something of the sort..) I really love it! Like with all ikea shelves/cabinets the customizability is endless! You can make each nook have its own little door or little draws or just keep it as an empty shelf, or decorate every other cubby... whatever your heart desires! I also always go the extra step and make all the drawers soft closing ones because its just so pleasant!

The black shelves you were looking at are great. We bought two of them in white for our apartment and they assembled easily and are good quality.

We have the Kallax shelves for my wife’s childcare. Works great with the baskets and the doors. We also have it attached one side to a wall to make a room divider. Thanks for your great videos!

Maybe someone already addressed this, but the lights in the kitchen cabinets are electric. We just re-did our kitchen with IKEA cabinets (with lights) and I LOVE IT. We paid for the kitchen planning service, but assembled and installed it all ourselves. Once you're done with the bathroom, you should do an IKEA kitchen makeover. Those would be fun home vlogs. Also, I have the white kallax units with the black/brown inserts and capita legs (IMO the legs make it look more like real furniture) in my home office/craft room. And the Alex unit is one end of my desk. I've had it for about 3 years and the white on the kallax has held up very very well. I love it all!

I completely agree about the plan thing!! Even if it’s not a major variation.....like we were gonna leave at a certain time and then who we were going with changes last minute.....it kills me a little inside. I think it’s just when you have it in your head and then it doesn’t happen 🤣

Absolutely love my Kallax storage unit... i have a 4x4 in black/brown and got the Drona boxes in black to go into the cubbies, i store all sorts of stuff in there. It doubles as a great room divider, and it is very sturdy!
I like the bottom floor of the store more than the furniture on the upper floor. So many things for the kitchen and bathroom!
we have a kallix cube shelf set with some doors, some drawers, some with baskets and some left open. They are awesome!!! I love them. You can configure it anyway you want to meet your needs and they are super affordable. Perfect for getting organized.

I have had a cube system in my room for years. I love it. I plan on having a cube system wherever I live. It’s nice. I would go for the ones with the drawers though because that’s the only thing I wish I could change about mine. Drawers would be nice.

Both our kids have those units (4x4 ones). Half of of it is converted into drawers for clothes and the the other half has boxes for toys. We also have the 2x4one in the kitchen with boxes for shoes and coats and outdoor toys and a 1x4 one in the living room with boxes for board games and arts and craft stuffy. Best pieces of furniture in the house and easy to keep the house tidy.

The only IKEA I’ve been to is in Orlando. My son and daughter-in-law love shopping there! Now I love it also, mainly for looking at the light fixtures forever. I love how different and unique they are.

Tim - your story of Autum and her family - IKEA actually does that for each space that they create! I worked there building those rooms and we used the "stories" for inspiration!
We love Ikea! I loved taking my kids there for the afternoon to just look around and play. They always have a great time in the kid section. Even now that they are older, they like to go and help us pick out furniture. We go to the same IKEA guys. We r in Lake Mary! Hate I 4 so we haven’t been there in a bit. Great video!

I’m an IKEA co-worker, the pictures in the room sets are the people who would be living in the room. Each room set is a moment in time so say, breakfast in bed or watching Netflix.
