I am an American from the Bronx who has lived in Italy for 11 years. My husband is Sicilian and we go to Taormina visiting his family every summer. It is a beautiful magical place and if you have family there, the culture is so much richer than just the tourist areas. I do thank you for showing the beauty of Sicily many Americans erroneously only think of the negative things about this beautiful rich treasure full of lovely proud people and deep history. And I have the Moorish king and his queen ceramic heads in my kitchen window in Rome, good purchase😊

As a resident here in Italy I have been to most of the engaging places this country has to offer however I still haven't been to Taormina, but that can and will be fixed.
Amazing you went to my favorite ceramic shop in all Italy. And those from caltigirone are the best. I go there Everytime and get replacements and new pieces. And have them send me back home

I totally agree with you guys when you talk about how tomatoes are different in Italy! The sea air, sun, and composition of the farm lands are so different than what we are use to here in the States. I''m Italian and I can say that the one in Taormina Is a theatre (semicircle shape). An amphitheatre has an oval or circular shape, like the Colosseum in Rome or the Arena in Verona. I think all signs around had the word "theatre" written on them.

Taormina beautiful but to expensive!!! We visit the cute city up and the beach, after the second week of September at the beach they wanted €30.- for one umbrella and two beds, of course with Isola Bella in front ( nothing impressive). We went for the rest of the day at Sant’Alessio Siculo and we paid €7 and we could eat at the beach and the water was great. We visit also Castelmola on top of Taormina and drank Almond wine with a delicious almond cake in bar Turrisi, a must when you are in Castelmola.
Been all over Italy never been to Taormina yet wanting to go for years , Hopefully go there late this year along with Cagliari again and Sardinia , last trip to Italy Cagliari Sardinia and milan in 2018 , how many marks out of 10 would you give it ? looks stunning, cheers Mikey in Scotland :)

There's a back entrance to the theater with no lines ever. Just down the road from the public gardens. You never need a taxi. There is a good bus system, and the village is compact. Corso Umberto comes alive at night --- musicans and artists everywhere. It's pretty dead in the daytime, except for cruise shippers.
Euro Trotter you need to go to Eastern Europe like Serbia, Romania, Albania, Greece and Bosnia. It's unspoiled. I think you will enjoy it more than Western Europe. Make that your next destination. Food is amazing. Some things to try: cevapi; pleskavijce, ciorbia, moussaka, Spanish pita. Your homework assignment is to look up these words.

EURO TROTTER No prob; you’ve done some great Italy vlogs but in line with many English speaking commentators, some of the mispronunciations are painful. Unfortunately, those from the US are often the worst as in Italian, you absolutely cannot pronounce the letter ‘t’ as a ‘d’ as in turning the word ‘gelato’ (ice-cream) into ‘gelado’ for example - you’re just making up new words. I enjoy your films, really engaging; hope you didn’t mind me just suggesting that opening this film with a horrible mispronunciation of the star of the show might have been worth a bit of research.
