If Bishop Barron is speaking to your heart and you are not yet a confirmed Catholic, please go to your local parish church and join the RCIA program. At 55, I was Baptized and confirmed on Easter and it has meant the world to me. Just dive right in, join the Body of Christ, you will not regret it!

Your unwavering passion for the faith, your intolerance for dumbing down Catholicism's deep intellectual tradition, and so much more played an integral part in my conversion. As Bishop Barron says, we believe in the resurrection of the body... At the same time, I can't help but recall what was said on Ash Wednesday- "remember you are dust, and from dust you shall return" (as we receive the ashes)....

    • @wardjaeger8954
      @wardjaeger8954 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Indeed, this is part of the curse of Original Sin that we inherit as human beings (Genesis 3:19). We say these words on Ash Wednesday to become painfully aware of our sinfulness. Lent is the season where we clothe ourselves is sackcloth and ashes, like the people of Nineveh, in order to repent of our sins.
But the liturgical calendar does not stay in Lent. “The wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). We would have “returned to dust” in our sin, but Jesus’ death and resurrection have actually gained for us a life even after death. That is why Easter is the Solemnity of solemnities, because we celebrate the immensity of God’s love which gives an eternal life we could never have achieved on our own. All that remains is to accept our place in the heavenly banquet, even in the present moment.
Happy Easter season! Christ is risen, alleluia!

We have to thank Jordan, because I didn't know you, being an Orthodox Greek, living in Greece, and i found you through your last discussion with Jordan. I said "what a calm and wise man". Then i realised that everything i hear from you is exactly what I need and deeply understand.
I know God appears in his own terms, but what if i still lose hope...? I'm ashamed to admit that, but i still lose hope...

Love this topic and so well presented; however, at least for me, the explanation did not directly answer the title question of what happens to us when we die. Rather, it does wonderfully answer the question what happens when we are resurrected. I hope you will consider doing an important post-script on this homily addressing what happens to us between death and our resurrection. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for teaching on so many important matters of our faith.

I can count on one hand how many priests/ministers/evangelists I have ever taken to heart in my lifetime and still have a few fingers left over.
I would like to Bishop Barron to discuss in depth "the end of time." I do not think what is in the bible about the end of time is what most people today think it means. It supposedly means God presiding over a just earth now, God's kingdom on earth being actualised. Okay, if I am correct, why has not that happened by now?? Jesus died over 2K years ago. I am nearing the end of my own life. How many believers have lived and died now? At what point is "the end of time" arriving??

Yes we believe in the resurrection of the body in a glorified state on the last day. And we believe in the creation of a new Heaven and a new earth .What I want to know is what state are we in while we await this to happen?

    For the living are conscious that they will die;
but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
    Ecclesiastes 9:5
Your dead ones will live. A corpse of mine-they will rise up.
Awake and cry out joyfully, YOU residents in the dust!
For your dew is as the dew of mallows, and the earth itself
will let even those impotent in death drop in birth.
    Isaiah 26:19
"Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming
in which all those in the memorial tombs
will hear his voice and come out"
    John 5:28,29
Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life.
He that faith in me, even though he dies,
will come to life; and everyone that is living and exercises
faith in me will never die at all. Do you believe this?”
She said to him: “Yes, Lord; I have believed that you are
the Christ the Son of God, the One coming into the world.
    John 11:25-27

Thank-you so much for these words of wisdom and deeply insightful visions from The Bible and how Jesus was the end all and be all of all previous religious faith bringing beautiful, glorious truth. He continues to be a focus for the pagans continuin to assign their evil traditions to Jesus instead of demons they choose to host themselves; a measure displaying the devil's continuing prowl through the world for the ruin of souls.

Jesus was not made of dust like us. We are not the same as Jesus! He is God and not mortal. Unlike Jesus, our bodies will decay. The Bible says we will be given heavenly bodies. We will be changed.

  • @Lucky-ix2ic

Jesus Christ has answered this question very clearly::
    Luke 20:34
    John 6:28-29
    John 6:39-44
    John 11:23-24
    John 12:48
    1 Corinthians 15:51-54
The common thread is “on the last day.” So it appears that we are to wait. It’s that simple, unless you want to puzzle over the compression of time straight to the last day at the moment of death. In the meantime life has its troubles of the day. Jesus warned us about worrying for tomorrow, so let’s all hold fast to the commandments and precepts he has set before us.

Wow. Bishop Barron has this ability to render me speechless, in a state of pondering, reflection and meditation. He opens up the Scriptures and puts them in a historical context that, I find, allows me to meditate on these events as the real, historical events that they are. I find myself able to imagine myself there, and as such, delve deeper into the Mysteries of our Beautiful Faith. Sometimes to the point of tears. Thank you Bishop Barron for answering God's daily call to evangelize and bring the Truth to all of us in such a clear and loving way. And Peace be with you, too! 🕊️✝️🙏🏼

I was expecting him to be the general, fighter pilot, door-to-door marine and demolitions expert all put together. That doesn't exist in reality, and once I started appreciated him for what he does well it all became much easier.
