We have no names. There are several distinct Sohyang fan groups - international music fans, voice students/teachers, international Christian music fans, and k-drama fans (of her soundtracks). There is less overlap in the songs they listen to than one might think. She didn't win I Am a Singer but graduated - won 4 episodes, second 5 times, third 3 times and never lower. Competition level was very high.
At that time, she was not well known to the general public as a CCM singer.CCM is not popular in Korea. I think she would have won more than enough if she had as much recognition as the other pop singers who were in competition. Most have English sub. As in Where Are You, the two interruptions at the apex of the song is also not there. Sohyang had been singing for more than 10 years prior to this competition. She rarely appeared on TV except for some Starking episodes and a few performances. The general public did not know who she was, although she was very popular in the Christian world. As I Am A Singer 2 was more or less a popularity contests, she didn't have a large enough fanbase to compete with the other popular veterans. She was termed Mariah Carey of Korea during this competition. She didn't win the competition. She came in 3rd after losing out on her performance of It's My World, which is a crazy rock performance.

At first, it started as a corner show of a comprehensive variety show, and later it was produced as an independent show, and the name became 'I am a singer 2'. Sorry that you reacted to this infamously irritating video among Sohyang fans. Those untimely clips inserted at the climax belt by Sohyang are beyond annoying. By the way, in the clip she said that at the point of the epic B5 belt, all she could feel was pain. Glad someone already pointed you to vimeo where you can find many of Sohyang's performances and with English subtitles. Sohyang came in 2nd in this episode and placed 3rd for the season. However, she achieved the highest average rank among the contestants, and never placed outside of the top 3. There are many great singers in Korea and there are many factors that could affect the audience's reaction, and Sohyang was relatively new in the public's eyes at that time. There are way too many performances by Sohyang worthy of reactions. Here are some of the major eras (by appearances in TV competition shows) to know when watching Sohyang's performances: Prior to 2012 - she was mostly known as a singer among the Contemporary Christian Music circle. Dennis, yes, you got a bad version. There is at least one with the lyrics and WITHOUT the bit with her speaking over the high point of the song. You should locate one with the lyrics and do it again. (If you haven't already.) This is a song about a lost love, and is heartbreaking with or without the English lyrics. The audience knew what was coming - you could tell by their faces at the beginning. She is spectacular in her ability to connect with an audience and convey the emotion of a song. When you get to "Hug Me" do NOT pick the one from the Mask contest. I consider these performances to be unacceptable - not because her singing isn't right on the money, but you HAVE to see her. I'm always moved to tears listening to Sohyang, and I also don't understand Korean. I think the lyrics are less important than the emotion. This song's about pain and loss, but I believe those people crying in the audience would have cried even if she was singing in a language they didn't understand.

I love how she frequently ‘cries’ out her notes on emotional sections. It not only adds emotional depth but also makes the highs sound rounded and the transitions buttery smooth, preventing breaks and abrupt jumps in the flow both in the vocal aspects and the emotional mood of the song. Sorry that you reacted to this infamously irritating video among Sohyang fans. Those untimely clips inserted at the climax belt by Sohyang are beyond annoying. By the way, in the clip she said that at the point of the epic B5 belt, all she could feel was pain. Glad someone already pointed you to vimeo where you can find many of Sohyang's performances and with English subtitles.
Sohyang came in 2nd in this episode and placed 3rd for the season. However, she achieved the highest average rank among the contestants, and never placed outside of the top 3. There are many great singers in Korea and there are many factors that could affect the audience's reaction, and Sohyang was relatively new in the public's eyes at that time.
There are way too many performances by Sohyang worthy of reactions. Here are some of the major eras (by appearances in TV competition shows) to know when watching Sohyang's performances:
Prior to 2012 - she was mostly known as a singer among the Contemporary Christian Music circle.
Year 2012 - 13 performances on I Am A Singer 2 and gained visibility with the general Korean public
Year 2014 - 2018 - 6 performances on Immortal Song 2 and became known to international fans through TH-cam
Year 2017 - 9 performances on King of Masked Singer winning the throne 6 times

And in 2016 she was sick with pneumonia so often that she was seriously considering giving up on her singing career. She took a trip to New York to get a break from the stress and found a Depression-era quote from former president Franklin Roosevelt that said "All we have to fear is fear itself." She found that quite inspiring and decided that she could not look herself in the eye and say later that "I gave up when I should have kept trying." So she went back at it tooth and nail and what we have now is probably the best female vocalist in the world!

Dennis, yes, you got a bad version. There is at least one with the lyrics and WITHOUT the bit with her speaking over the high point of the song. You should locate one with the lyrics and do it again. (If you haven't already.)
This is a song about a lost love, and is heartbreaking with or without the English lyrics. The audience knew what was coming - you could tell by their faces at the beginning. She is spectacular in her ability to connect with an audience and convey the emotion of a song.
When you get to "Hug Me" do NOT pick the one from the Mask contest. I consider these performances to be unacceptable - not because her singing isn't right on the money, but you HAVE to see her. Pick the version where she is sitting mid-stage alone on a chair. Warning. It is deadly. That song will bring any living human to tears. It is that moving.

I don’t know , my favourite from her change often( they are all so good ! Yes there is a version of this song without the out-takes! They put then in a weird times, should be at end of song!? Their is a compilation of songs and scenes from a play she was in a few years back that is fun to watch! The Play was , The Sound Of Music!
