Tips; 1. Always check sparks each of cylinder. 2. There some relay behind battery and if you follow red positive battery and there hidden fuse. 3. Chrome cap covers is just sticker you can take off but its best to sell it since people might want it if you don't like it
The things people will scrap a car for. And to think that could've been destined for the dissassembly bay. Awesome little thing. Look forward to seeing it on the road, and getting it's little chavvy touches
Who would ever thought the fuel cut off switch would be the issue well done Kev it was good to see inside the dashboard and the interior was exactly the same as my MK6 Fiesta apart from the Seats. I did really love mine had it for 3 Years 2016-2019 but I was just ready to move on to the MK2 Ford Focus which I love even more.
That’s Brilliant Kev, can’t say for sure but that car may had been a friend of my sister he sadly no longer here now been gone since 2012 he had a Focus ST after the Fiesta.
Been waiting for this at work at moment on my break watching in my 1990 ford fiesta RS turbo big thumbs up for channel 🤗 have lovely rest of evening kev
I had one of these shape fiestas as my first car 10 years ago. A week after I passed my test I rear ended another car in stop start traffic because I’m an idiot. Got out and exchanged details (very minor damage). Got back into my car and it wouldn’t start. People in the traffic helped me push it off the road. I rang my mum who luckily is also a petrol head in a panic telling her what happened. Straight away she said “check behind the glove box for a fuel kill switch!” Boom there it was and it started straight away. Every day is a school day 😂
That was way too easy Kev, she sounds lovely and healthy. Brilliant work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and can’t wait to see the next one
These are actually a chain driven engine. No belt. Also They are known for giving different oil level readings everytime.. but there is a way of doing it. If the box is too heavy then its the gearbox linkage.. known for getting heavy when the links are expanding/siezing etc. just need to re drill the shifter plate hole
Nicely done Kev. Bet the owner you picked this up off is kicking themselves now! Thank goodness it was you who got sent to pick this one up to save it.
Your face when the car started was a picture, one of joy but also I could see you thinking what am I going to do now, not a very long video, I wonder how many cars get scrapped because of simple problems like that, I bet it's a high percentage.
Hi Kev , for a moment I thought I was watching SMA ( South main auto repair ) my favourite auto repair show . That was excellent happy for you , hope the original owner is not watching . Just drive past his house and toot the horn 🇨🇦🚙👍
When you got it running before 8 minutes I did wonder what else you were doing to do in the video. I had a similar problem on my Defender on an off road site, but it took a mate to suggest the fuel cut off and hey presto it started up again.
My references to the gears crunching was a common problem with with this particular gearbox in the forward gears and not the reverse crunch you get with most gearboxes going into reverse 👍
Wow! That thing must have been the deal of the century. Just click a button to get it running again once you'd done some fault-finding, the rest is just cosmetic damage and regular maintenance items. Wow.
That's amazing Kev! I've been putting off buying one of these for about 3 years now. Maybe this year I'll finally pull the trigger. Looking forward to future videos on this bad boy!
Kinnell Kev... you've got more jam than Hartleys!!!! I think you need to change your channel name to 'The Car Whisperer' Well done mate.... I couldn’t be more chuffed for you!
Wow.. what a result.. hope previous owner not watching, they'll be well pi55ed off... one think to check is to make sure there isn't a remap on there... and if so decide it you're going to keep it or pull it back to factory map.. But yeah, hit the jackpot on that one.. go buy a lotto ticket!
Hi kev just seen your video wow what a simple fix that was you looked so happy 🙂 when you found what the problem was now I am looking forward to the next video
What an easy fix the little Fiesta ST was ;-) As you pointed out common faults on these aren't cheap (power steering pump, gearbox etc) but looks like you got lucky with this one lol. I just have one question to ask right now and that is what's next??? ;-)
We had a fuel cut out switch activate on sales car, A Triumph Snag, which was a worry ! (£££££'s ??? ) The customer phoned and said it had stopped, He had done a U turn and bumped up the kerb !
I’ve had that button trip out before on a Clio I had... (hit pot hole) mine was next to the battery Can’t believe they fitted theirs in the glove box 🤔
Wow I can’t believe the previous owner didn’t just do a little research into such an obvious fault..it’s also in the handbook too..!!! I bet he’s kicking himself if he’s watching this...nice one Kev...someone’s gonna get a bargain 👍..looking forward to the next one..
Odd place to put an inertia button. Quite often on the older Fords it was in a aperture at the bottom of the A pillar. Well done you. (But don't get rid of the Jazz just yet!)
It's good you got the car running all you need to do now is get an Mot done and you get around 800 to 1200 and add some redex into the fule system just to clean the system
Just a little tip and only for a minute - a Volt Meter is not the correct way to test a circuit. A Volt Meter will only test for the presence of Voltage, but tells you nothing about the circuit's abiity to carry current. The correct way to test a circuit for current is an Incancescent (Filament) Test Light. You work in a scrap yard, you can probably rig one up for free: a sidelight will pull about 200mA; a full beam bulb will draw up to 4A. The latter is good for checking Oxygen Sensor circuits, the former for most everything else. You got lucky this time, imagine if you found voltage on the fuel pump wire but it turned out it could not carry enough current to drive the pump motor?
Just what I was thinking john, but not with such polite words. :-p Well done on spotting that Kev, some of use would have been pulling pumps out and checking ECMs and the like.
These engines can suffer with piston ring issues, they can stick and therefore burn oil. This can happen on and off, it’s either keep topping up the oil or change the rings.
Hi Kev, Where did you find the photo of the Borgward in the Trent's advert? They were a short lived German premium car, quite highly thought of at the time and surviving examples fetch serious money. Moving on to the Fiesta, all I can say is that some people are born lucky. Give it a service and Mot, and if you've got a mate with trade plates, give it a whirl to check how it drives.
Cannot believe that got scrapped for such a simple fix they would be fuming but I bet your buzzing 😂
an obdc plug would have solved that problem for the previous owner hope hes watching they'll be gutted lol
Sometimes it’s the last thing that goes wrong which makes them think I’m done with this car!
@@scottlaaa weird that all the stuff was working tho
This man is the luckiest in the world :P not only does he get to put things in holes in the dark, but he gets easy fixes :P nice job Kev..
Love your expression!!!!! I thought the air bag was going to go off 🤣🤣🤣
Tips;
1. Always check sparks each of cylinder.
2. There some relay behind battery and if you follow red positive battery and there hidden fuse.
3. Chrome cap covers is just sticker you can take off but its best to sell it since people might want it if you don't like it
WOW!! that is a touch!! Saved by the simplest of fixes!!
Love your reaction to it starting Kev! This car is fab!
Haha glad your enjoying it Chloe, if only it was always this easy 😂😂
The things people will scrap a car for. And to think that could've been destined for the dissassembly bay. Awesome little thing. Look forward to seeing it on the road, and getting it's little chavvy touches
My late Farther had a MK2 Discovery it broke down and it was the fuel shut off like yours, Well done, the engine sounds sweet
You lucky man kev, that was a simple fix can't wait to see you detailing the fiesta it should come up a treat 👍👍👍

I always remember dad's Orions and Escorts when I was a kid had a warning sticker about that on the sun visor... That's crazy!
I had one of these shape fiestas as my first car 10 years ago. A week after I passed my test I rear ended another car in stop start traffic because I’m an idiot. Glad it was an easy sort . Im pleeases for you . . Hope it dosent need much for the test all the best with it kev . Catch u later ..
Kev you lucky boy, what a result 👍
Fortune favours the brave. Well done Kev.
You can't beat a tight box m8🤔🤣,well done on getting it started and loved your reaction 😀,cheers
I went over a camber in the road in one of my 414's and it cut power to the fuel pump...switch was behind the stereo...happy days
What an easy fix you learn something everyday never knew about that switch now I do. The things people scrap cars for
That was way too easy Kev, she sounds lovely and healthy. Brilliant work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and can’t wait to see the next one
Has to be one of the shortest "Will it start?" videos I've ever seen....epic!!
I'm pleased it was something and nothing to get it started Kev nice one by the way
jammy sod ! haha fairplay to you Kev got a nice little fun motor there
Nice one kev it was as simple as one button can't wait till we get the next part
Wow what a result Kev, I reckon this will make a nice little keeper once it’s fully recommissioned 😎
Nice one Kev keep up the good work mate

Fantastic, the look on your face Kev!!! Great vlog, keep them coming! Ps love the Fiesta ST,can I have it please!
Last owner kicking them self 🤣🤣🤣🤣
More fool them for not getting a mechanic to check it.
What a result Kev,not bad for a tenner.
That much??? 🤣🤣
This world is a throwaway culture ,as soon as anything stops get another 👍
Nicely done Kev. Bet the owner you picked this up off is kicking themselves now! Thank goodness it was you who got sent to pick this one up to save it.
Would of been stripped by now if it wasn't me 😂
I suppose your only other thing is too chuck it on the OBD Scanner and read/resolve any codes that are there.

It would be good if all cars was that easy to fix keV good on you that fiesta sounds great
Absolutely fantastic, well done Kev you’ve saved a good car there.
Nice simple fix on the st, good that all the other bells & whistles are working aswell... you Should do another side channel called KEVTEEST 🤪
Amazing kevtee awesome achievement
Lovely billet header cap.
Great news "what a result!"
Good Wednesday evening on a wet and windy night from wellington Somerset
I love it when a plan comes together.
Nice work mate. 👍
Always doing a grand job kevtee. Massive fan, keep the vlogs coming.

I had a similar problem on my Defender on an off road site, but it took a mate to suggest the fuel cut off and hey presto it started up again.
2.46 not easy to feel your way round a hole in the dark😂😂😂
I think your mind is pure filth 😂😂
I was going to comment about this but thought better of it!
Well done Kevin mate hope u enjoy ur new ST
The cruch on the gearbox is when going into reverse from 1st caused by the lack of a synchro, it's a design flaw not a fault with the car.
My references to the gears crunching was a common problem with with this particular gearbox in the forward gears and not the reverse crunch you get with most gearboxes going into reverse 👍
@@KevTee Ah right i see
A nice tight box.. That's what everyone likes..

Great Video! Very pleased to see you do a Ford.

told you bud itl be something to do with the pump fuel issue im glad shes running 👍
I bought a wee red ST last year, they’re great wee cars. Also have a white track car! Still need to figure out why the fan won’t come on in my red one
6 disc cd head unit aswell 👍
What a result nice one
Cant believe a little thing like that and it got scrapped. Glad it's saved
What a result kev mate 👌👌👌
Loving the ST man! Can’t wait to see it progress 🙌🏼

Crazy huh, I wouldn't of known if I wasn't checking fuses 😂
Well done kevtee I said it could be the fuel cut off switch
Everyone needs a bit of luck now and again, but my god that was like falling in the Thames and coming out with a salmon. :-)
You're right! Kev should be on his way to buy his Euromillions ticket ASAP!!!
😂😂😂
Being a mechanic I have had this happen to customers with these fiesta. Easy fix if you know it is there.
Great result Kev, but wished you got the Carlton that would have been the dogs and its a proper car
I think the Carlton's owner would of had something to say about that 😂
Wow I can’t believe the previous owner didn’t just do a little research into such an obvious fault..it’s also in the handbook too..!!! I bet he’s kicking himself if he’s watching this...nice one Kev...someone’s gonna get a bargain 👍..looking forward to the next one..

Mines the CRV but a project car will never be a main car 👍
you deserve that luck kev even after vthe lotus carlton lol
From those rev shots looks like it could do with engine/exhaust mounts there seemed to be a lot of movement in that exhaust
I did think the same
Uprated mounts are on the cards 👍
@@KevTee Good to hear! Love the content, looking forward to what you do with this one!

I told you that in the unavailing video. Seen it loads of times with potholes.
Your reaction when that struck up. 😲😲😏😏

Got to keep it now Kev, it was meant to be, what a great fun little car for buttons. You'll never forgive yourself if you let it go! :D
Nice Kev, glad to to see it's already running. Are you going to change that air filter? It looks like a rather sad K&N job.
Yes it's going to be replaced along with many other tasty bits 😁
Great video that was too good to be scraped nice easy fix
Amazing that someone would let it be scrapped for such a simple fault , good job done 👍👍
Nice job Kev!
You are a jammy sod , that was to easy , stay safe
I was hoping it was going to be a little more challenging, not complaining though John 😂
Just what I was thinking john, but not with such polite words. :-p Well done on spotting that Kev, some of use would have been pulling pumps out and checking ECMs and the like.
Hi Kev my ford Escort GTi should be back on the road soon would love for u to see her mate
I bet the bloke who decided to scrap it is absolutely kicking himself now 🤣
Awesome reaction
My eyes lit up and I said no waaay exactly as you did. Wow.
Edit: couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Delighted for you.
Thank you mate, glad you enjoy the content 👌
Fuel cut-out switch - didn't know they existed! I've never seen it mentioned in a Haynes! (Perhaps THEY don't know!)
Bet ur bosses love what ur doing Kev stay safe
